Well FYI in Goa which comes under a Tier 2 city (I guess we're still on BS2 fuel), HP and BP have both confirmed to me last week that their normal and premium petrol is 87 octane, Indian Oil on the other hand confirmed that throughout the country their regular and xtra premium is 91 octane. So therefore most performance cars or bikes here (4 stroke) will be running heavily retarded timing or knocking like a woodpecker. Speed 97 is not available here and they had stated that it's unlikely to be available anytime soon.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostNormal Petrol is RON 91 (Both BS3 and BS4)
Premium Petrol is RON 95 (Both BS3 and BS4) So maybe the additive they are using is an octane booster.
Speed 97 was discontinued in April 2010 AFAIR when BS4 came into existence(From what i remember, sale in Pune has been stopped quite a while back.) purely because it didn't make any sense if RON 95 is so widely available.
Bizzare system, only in India!Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

my guess is just over 50+Originally posted by Rajathslr View PostFolks need some interactive discussion, I bet this is going to be the most DECISIVE factor of the DUKE 200...
I made up my mind to test the FE of my Baby Duke today, filled the tank full with Shell Super high octane petrol, set the trip1 meter to zero, headed out to the nelamangala elevated highway(Bangalore).
Bright sunny day, Supersmooth highway, no much traffic...I rode consistently at 70kmph for the next 22kms, then had to switch to a 6 lane Bangalore-Mangalore highway, increased the speed to around 78kmph and managed to reach a top speed of 94kmph at a slope only once & I dint stress the engine at any point during the journey (max 6k RPM)
After 60kms, i took a break for ten mins, then headed back non stop in the same pace to the same gas station and to the same attendant..
Total kms : 101.2
Total litres :

Please try your best to guess the Mileage I got....(each wil get 2 chances)

Seriously if it's 55kmpl I'm not gonna feel bad about selling off my pulsar 135LS which gave me an average of 59kmpl with city riding...If this holds to be true about the DUKE offering 55kmpl then all we need to do to save some precious RON 91 fuel is to ride sanely...sometimes...Originally posted by ASSASSIN07 View PostLooking @ ur excitement, lets say u clocked 55 kmpl!Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Ya I know, its unbelievable...and I myself was lauhgin at the Shell petrol bunk seeing it and arguing with tat attendant thats somethings wrong with his instrumentation....
This is really really really Phenomenal for a bike of this capacity....
But this has lead me to speculate the true power output of this bike, I need to test the max power output after 1st service...

Update:
I rode my bike after a gap of 3 days as I was out for some time. Its a Sunday, not much traffic in Delhi. The bike loves to be revved, is so well balanced. It feels like a breeze now. I did let the throttle loose today but still kept it below 65 KM/H and the RPM well below 7.5k.
My Duke kept saying I was getting 46-47 Kpl, It did go up to 51!!! in city which is not bad at all. Clicked a photo at a traffic intersection to prove it:Last edited by spiralbrain; 03-04-2012, 05:33 PM.
