      Hello all!

Tobias here from Auckland, New Zealand. I found this forum and thread when Googling around for information regarding my new 2013 Duke 200 ABS that I bought a month ago. Seems like the biggest user base is in India, thats why I joined this forum.

Read somewhere in here that you experience a speed limit on your Dukes. I don't. It hits the rev limiter at about 136 kmh, that's all.

I'm also building a alarm and immobilizer for plug and play connection to the bike. Will post some pictures.

        Welcome To Xbhp

Hitting rev limiter or getting cut off at 136/138 is what we face in India, so its the same for you as well. May be all Dukes are like that
Remapping the ECU helps in getting rid of the limitter

Hmmm... I was convinces that was the rev limiter. Going to give it another go and see if I can keep a better eye at the tach.

Hey guys i wanted to know would the ngk spark plug make a lot of difference as comapared to the stock spark plug of duke in terms of mileage n smoothness of bike. My third service is scheduled for saturday n i am thinking about getting even my spark plug changed as i am getting abnormal low mileage since the last 2months but i am not able to source the ngk spark plug from the local ngk dealers so thinking about going for the stock spark plug. So should i try hard to source the ngk spark plug or the stock 1 would do?

Not sure where the disagreement is. There is no electronic speed governor on the Duke. The rev limiter is set at 10500 rpm for the stock bike, which translates to around ~136 in 6th gear. I think we're all very clear on that.

The stock Duke used to rev up to 10500 rpm in all gears until they flashed my ECU after which the rev limit in the fifth and six gears was lowered to 10000 rpm. The result was that its top speed was reduced from 137-138 down to 132-133 kmph with the 43T rear sprocket. With the 42T sprocket, it is but 1-2 kmph higher. Those lucky enough to have the old map like LP, whose ECU I saved, can hit 140-141 with the 42T sprocket. If I am not mistaken, I was the first one to point that out last year before my engine was opened up for the first of four times

43T and old-ish ECU map here.
Rev limiter cuts in at 10.5k rpm, around 136 speedo indicated.

Tried once more today by taking the bike to 136 kmh, full throttle, and declutching. The bike does not rev higher when declutching. So it seems its the rev limiter that kicks in, not a speed limiter.

Let me again explain the Limiter deal to everyone. This is something which a few of use have tried. So this is not guess work but facts and figures.
Stock bike has the rev limter set to 10500 rpm. BUT there IS a speed limter at 136 kmph or so. I have a remapped bike with a increased rev limit to 11500 rpm. BUT my top speed is still 136 kmph. That is because, as you come upto 135 kmph, either the fuel is cut or the current to the spark plug, but ultimately you get bogged down. This happens in 6th gear at 10000-10100 rpm. Now if you remap and/or have a smaller sprocket, you will reach a different rpm, BUT your top speed will remain the same. There is an option, the RD Piggyback unit removes the speed limiter and you can reach upto whatever speed you desire with correct mapping and sprocketing.

For everyone who still doubts, go and redline your duke in the 2nd gear, keep it in the redline and FEEL the engine, then do the same at the top speed. You will know the speed limiter and how it feels.

Thanks for that. It is what I have read on other pages as well. I also read that the black connector under the tank holds a cable with which you should be able to cut off the speed limiting signal. Has this been tried extensively?

Just rode down from Bangalore to Mangalore. Fuel economy in the first leg : 21.33 kpl. Tankful to tankful method. Although I barely ever dipped below 120kph on the entire strech.

                                1. Read the manual as to how to set the headlight focus.. There's a screw that adjusts the headlite throw inside the headlight assemble.. As I said refer the manual
                                2. yes that's an easy job.. But I would ask you to go to the svc for the job in case you are not familiar with it.
