Re: KTM 200 Duke
Is it worth waiting for? Reports suggest that gears might be tall as the engine is derived from the 390 rather than the 200.Originally posted by s1d View PostYou will know the answer on June 31st.
Planning to buy a D200 soon. Any advice?

I guess I'll be sharing the same feeling as you bro. Planning to book the duke 200 next weekend.Originally posted by shravansp24 View PostIf it replaces the duke 200, then I'll be seriously pissed off at ktm
I bought the duke 200 just one week back and still i haven't taken the delivery.. If they had said about the upcoming D250, then i would have waited. Btw i think 200 itself has more than enough power
And I agree the duke seems to have enough power

Re: KTM 200 Duke
But i personally think 200 will be better than the 250 because the duke 200 has enough grunt and pickup and no one's going to do over 120kmph in Indian roads at all time unless he lives in some highway or so. And the mileage of the 250 will definitely be even lower than the 200 which itself is considered low for its class(comparing with 200ns, zma, 220) and it produces over 32bhp of power. The cbr 250 in comparison produces only 26bhp, so in heavy traffic areas, it's gonna get more hotter.Originally posted by dhruv_panchal View PostI guess I'll be sharing the same feeling as you bro. So personally duke 200 > 250.
and yes, I'm biased towards 200 and supporting it cause i bought it :P
So whenever my friends ask me, i just say that only the stickering of 250 is good which is similar to 390 but in practicality, the 200 is better

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Guys , i got the KTM instruction set /manual yesterday which mention that 2nd free service interval is at 8500 kms or 150 days whichever comes earlier was surprised as i have heard that service intervals are increased to 7500kms . Is this a printing mistake or its increased further till 8500 kms which is pretty long :P

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hi Guys, I'm Saurabh and I'm new to this forum. I'm following this thread for awhile and what I have came to know is that the latest stock ECU version is v11.43 with new minor updates in 2015 model. Is it good enough for cruising comfortably at 100km/hr like the Pulsar 200NS?
And the new model does 100km/hr at what RPM ?

Re: KTM 200 Duke
no no when i say that adding 50 cc to get 6 bhp more doesnt make sense . i have a point behind it , surely not a mere statement to cover my jealousy(ok i admit it im jealous!! ). because TVS Racing actually started their team with a Bare 50cc Moped and they dominated the indian arena for 7 years ,when TVS introduced 100 cc AX 100 model Motorcycles into road racing. These bikes during its time were undisputed in the Indian soil as it had power up to 16 bhp as against a mere 7-8 bhp in commercial bikes. after reading all this im pretty sure in 2015 ktm a far more superior company compared to tvs, can obviously work miracles with their engine. lets not forget this years dakar rally was won by a KTM adventure.
i think the 250 is to bridge the gap between 200 and 390. no matter what happens ill still love my 200.

Yes, service intervals have magically been increased on all the ktm's to a 7500km interval.Originally posted by Tushar Suvarna View PostGuys , i got the KTM instruction set /manual yesterday which mention that 2nd free service interval is at 8500 kms or 150 days whichever comes earlier was surprised as i have heard that service intervals are increased to 7500kms . If I had such a service interval mentioned, Then i would at the minimum have the oil changed at 4000km and then at the 7500km service. The motul 7100 is good enough for 5000km, i wouldn't trust it any more on a ktm. If changing entire oil is not pocket friendly, I would at-least replace half the oil with fresh oil at 4000km intervals.

Don't ever compare a two stroke with a 4 stroke !!Originally posted by plexus View Postno no when i say that adding 50 cc to get 6 bhp more doesnt make sense . i have a point behind it , surely not a mere statement to cover my jealousy(ok i admit it im jealous!! ). because TVS Racing actually started their team with a Bare 50cc Moped and they dominated the indian arena for 7 years ,when TVS introduced 100 cc AX 100 model Motorcycles into road racing. A 125cc 2-stroke (from ktm itself) would whoop our D200's *** all day long.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Yup, you are right. But that's not what he is saying. He meant that a 125cc stroker would give the Duke 200 a real run for its money.Originally posted by shravansp24 View PostUmm.. The duke/RC 250 are single cylinder, 4 stroke machines.
Guys, I bought a Duke 200 and I am very happy with the bike. Its peppy, its fast, handles well and makes me happy! Unfortunately I gave riding bikes circa 2007 and I have just restarted again with the Duke 200. My last bike was a RD 350 which I still have but its in storage. The Duke is the first 4 stroke bike I have bought or ridden for any length of time. So I am getting used to normal stuff like engine braking and modern running gear. I will keep updating my experiences and observations here periodically.
I have bought the bike for two reasons. One I love motorcycling and was desperate to get back to riding. The other reason was for commuting to office and to do short rides around Mumbai area.
Currently I have an odd issue. The fuel gauge has developed a mind of its own. Sometimes it will go into reserve, where it will show 2 small bars near the letter E, when I start in the morning and after a while it will show two bars which it should have shown when I turned on the ignition. It will do the same again sometimes in the evening when I return home. It has done this a couple of times recently. Should I leave it alone?
Some quick observations.
1. The bike runs hot and the fan is noisy. It has not over heated yet.
2. The gearbox is brilliant. Clutch less upshifts are a breeze. Should I stop doing that?
3. The seats are rubbish.
4. The front brake has good bite but lacks feel. I have taken to wearing gloves for safety and I feel that I lose a lot of feel for the front brake when wearing gloves. Will changing gloves improve the situation or I will have to get used to it? The feedback is definitely better without gloves.
5. The rear brake is good too.
6. The chain is showing signs of slight rusting. Will lubricate this weekend. Covered some 440 kms so far. Bought 90 SAE oil for chain lubrication. Any suggestions?
7. The horn is rubbish.
8. The lights are ok.
9. I like the exhaust note.
10. The seating position is spot on.
I am an acceleration and a corner junkie. That's what bikes are for. Going fast around corners and getting from 0 to what ever you feel like as fast as possible. The duke is good at both. Straight line speed is boring. Travelling at 160 Km/Hr on a straight road is exciting but only for some time.
So this it, people. I hope some of you will make an effort to read this!!And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.
