what petrol do you guys use?
It runs fine on regular fuel, you can a fuel injector cleaner additive once every 3000km (STP, Abro a few are available on Amazon, snapdeal etc)
If you want a check list, then refer this https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3i...phSng2QTA/view - courtesy Ajay Vishwanath
You could also search on this forum for other helpful items for a checklist.. am just too lazy to type out everything!
Also make sure you collect all documentation: owners manual (with all details entered, stamped), insurance, registration/temp registration, invoices

The cons are :
1) Has a hard seat.
2) gets heated up during summers, but it may not b a major problem.

And a good dab of gear oil EP/SAE 90 to lube the chain completes the task.
Aerosol cans are just a convenience. If you factor in the economics, you might as well replace your chain/sprocket kit every 8000km than spend Rs.1000 on a set of chain clean/lube that might last you say 4000 km/8 maintenance sessions ? Because a new chain sprocket kit itself costs around Rs.2000.

You have been ripped my friend.. chain slider/indicator labor charges !! wtf! and 130 for chain clean!!

yeah their labor did look like a rip off.

For 5 year reliability, you'll have to wait till 2017. That'll be 5 years after the 1st lot was delivered in 2012 or late 2011. So, for now, no one will be able to guarantee you that
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Brother, still there are two wheelers aged 30 years running the show.Do not worry, go ahead and buy one. anything will last longer if taken care of it. First gen pulsars run even today compared to the pathetic bajaj quality. KTM's are way better than that. And in addition to that, all the small niggles which were seen in KTM duke 200 has been rectified by now(2015 models).

With regard to touring, hard seat might be a let down. But you are gonna forget ur pain in the ass with the power u have in between ur legs.

Cheers bro, happy selecting :-)

Thanks a lot for your suggestion.

Let me tell you my experience:
I bought the D200 in Oct 2014, and as on date it has just crossed 9000km, i.e. 5 months. 70% of that mileage was clocked on touring including a few 200-300km one day weekend rides. I found it to be a very comfortable tourer and I have ridden it non stop for 3-4 hours a few times on the highway and I maintain speeds around 85-95kmph sometimes shooting up to the 100's. The bike has not given me any major problem (except for one major issue on the day of delivery itself which was fixed promptly) and neither did i feel any discomfort after long hours of riding (of course at the end of a long day on the saddle you will feel tired be it any bike , which is normal.) - IMO the seat is not hard, it might appear so, but why dont you yourself push your finger against the seat and sit/drive the new duke and see for yourself. I found it just perfect for my butt!
Coming to the reliability and long term, then you must understand that this is not as simple a machine as say a pulsar which can be fixed/ rebuilt at most mechanics places, and it will require some attention and a knowledgeable person to fix it. From what I am seeing, i think a D200 will last for around 60k km if maintained well and ridden normally. If you are going to rev the heck out of it every time and neglect maintenance, then be prepared to face problems.

Why dont you wait a few more days for the launch of the pulsar rs200 ? It might be a cheaper investment for you and it supposedly comes with ABS as well.

Thanks for your advice and i am glad to hear that your duke is doing well.

I dont like the looks of pulsar 200rs, however i liked pulsar 200 ns but not sure if i should go for it

And another point is that i dont want to stretch my budget over 1 lac unless its something really worth it

I personally feel that the current price @ 1.6 L is pricier for the D200 (which isn't as refined as say a Honda or a Yam) but again if you have the money to spend go for it, I paid 1.53 for mine 5 months ago after saving up for almost two years (which included an almost 10k price hike in between)
The RS 200 i heard will be priced around 1.3L.
What i would suggest is you take a test drive of the cbr , ktm, r15 and the pulsars and then take a decision. Don't simply go by what people like me write on the internet

Bro why are u comparing these 3 bikes?

The only thing similar in them is the price bracket they fall in.

The CBR and the R15 are supersports with aggresive riding positions and both are 150cc making 17-18HP.

Whereas the Duke is a Naked Street bike with a Supermotard riding postion and 25HP.
