Remove the brake pads and let them first dry out in the sun for an hour or so. Meanwhile wash the caliper area with some warm soapy water (vim liquid, cuts oil/grease pretty well)Originally posted by Pritesh Patel View PostGuys i cleaned my chain with diesel an some diesel got sprayed on the disk, so not the disk is not working. How can i make it as it was. Next get some sand paper and rub the pads on it. And if you have some brake cleaner hit em with it. Otherwise get some pure acetone and wet a clean cloth with it and clean the discs to remove any remaining residue.
Or simply do the caliper and disc cleaning, and get new pads (they cost some 200rs I think.)
And remember to not use the brake lever when the pads are out, or you will have a tough time pushing the pistons back in.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Is it true that KTM service centers across India don't take up the job when spares are brought/purchased from outside?
I wanted to change the coolant from stock to engine ice (which I purchased elsewhere). Since my efforts for DIY ended in vain, I decided to take it to an ASC here in Chennai, to get the job done. To my disappointment, I was told that they wouldn't take up that job since they are not allowed to use any spares brought from outside. I tried arguing and gave up at some point when I realized that they were just parroting what they are instructed. Even the talking with the manager didn't help.
So I want to know
1) Are the SVC people right?
2) Has anyone else had a similar experience with the SVC and got it resolved through escalating?
3) Is there a multi-brand service center in Chennai where I can get this done?

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hi guys,
I am form Coimbatore and have a 2012 Duke 200, I have been having an issue with my ride off late. When I try to start the bike, there is no absolutely no response (ie) the starter motor doesn't kick in and the bike does not start. When I took the bike to the SVC they had no clue what issue was either but they suggested that I should change the starter relay and that would solve the problem.
A week later after changing the starter relay I faced the same issue again. This time they ran a diagnostics on my bike and found that the voltage generated was a little high around (18V). They were not sure of the cause but they assumed that it could be related to the bike not starting. So they asked me to replace my stator assembly.
But even after all this, the problem persisted. This time they wanted me to replace my battery. By now I had enough of their callous attitude as all they wanted to do was replace parts rather than find the actual cause of the issue. They were not able to replicate the same issue in the SVC. It seemed to be happening at random.
On further investigation I found that whenever the issue occured, the bike refused to start when in gear and the clutch was depressed, but at the same time the engine would crank if the clutch was not depressed or the bike wass in neutral. I feel that there might be an issue with the switch in the clutch lever.
I would appreciate your inputs on this. If there is any other info that you would like please feel free to ask me.
Also is there anyone from Coimbatore here who can refer me to a good mechanic other than the SVC.
