Re: KTM 200 Duke
Atleast this is what svc center knows, and they are pretty confident about 250 replacing 200, we'll have to wait and watch.Originally posted by R-series View PostRead on motorbeam (16th April), saying that KTM has refused to launched the 250s in India. They are bound for markets where 250s are more popular like Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, etc.
I also got the tyres changed to Michelin Pilot Street reccently. I was also worrying about the front behaving abnormally, too tight as compared to the stock MRFs. But it seems to be normal as you and my CBR friend is also facing the same problem.Originally posted by RRB View PostGot the new Michelin Pilot Street Radials 110/70 R17 and 150/60 R17 for my D200 last weekend. Stock MRF front was almost bald and rear one got 5 five punctures and started giving me shocks. Got them from Cherry's JC road. I was planning for the famous Michelin 140/70, but heard that they came up with the duke stock size tires now. Still running in and just about 60 or 70 km old now.
First impressions:
1. Tires look very good on the bike, has a lot of treads compared to MRF and can now avoid random stranger asking questions about why the tire is so bald. It looks a lot normal now.
2. More rounded profile than the stock tires. I feel like only a narrow area is in contact with roads
. The bike tends to lean automatically on corners. Front tire feels a bit hard to maneuver. I am still getting used to it.
3. It already started raining in Bangalore and had a fair bit of wet road ride from office. Here is the biggest difference i felt from the stock. It feels a lot in control and grippy in wet road. This what the treads are used for.
Hope fully a very worthy upgrade.
The tyre surely is prone to punctures being soft. My rear one has had 2 in one 1000Km ride.
Got the pair for 9000.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Yeah , last time SVC charged 1.5Ltr in bill and didn't give me the rest 0.5Ltr, which they usually do, and they confirmed it comes in new pack of 1.5 Ltr.Originally posted by s1d View PostMotul 7100 10w50 now comes in a 1.5 L can ..just saw it at the asc today.
The more I ride the more I am liking the tire. Even though it tends to lean on slightest of curves the tire tries to get back to straight line faster in straight road. I think this is the reason for the hardness we felt on front tire. Anyway it is not a deal breaker and the ride I felt a lot stable.Originally posted by AkshayA View PostI also got the tyres changed to Michelin Pilot Street recently. And that is a very good price you got them for. The new 150/60s are selling in Bangalore for a premium price.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Guys my duke (clocked 23k kms) has been facing peculiar problem. Sometimes the display reads "high coolant temperature" and I observe that the fan isn't working too. But when I let the bike cool down and start again, the fan works. Also I've observed that the coolant temperature reading goes high (to the max) very quickly.
So is there a
1.) problem with the thermostat?
2.) coolant replacement is needed (coolant replaced just 700kms back)
3.) any other issue?
Waiting for your replies.
Cheers,
Karthik

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hello guys I am back with another query this time.
How far I can go beyond 1k kms without voiding warranty. My ODO reads 970kms already and due to work commitments I don't think I will be able to take time for service for another 200kms.
What do you think guys?Honda Unicorn : 2009-2015

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Guys, I feel it's a problem with the speedo console. Yesterday the speedo just stopped working. Today I got it checked at the svc, was working fine until the "high coolant temperature" started showing again. Aaaargh! Also, as a bonus, the speedo reading shows zero all of a sudden. I just don't know what's wrong!Originally posted by zma10 View PostGuys my duke (clocked 23k kms) has been facing peculiar problem. Re: KTM 200 Duke
Most probably your starter coil or the alternator has gone bad. Ask the mechanic to check the voltage reading at idle with high beam ON. It should be more than 14V. Anything less than that, it is the culprit.Originally posted by zma10 View PostGuys, I feel it's a problem with the speedo console. Yesterday the speedo just stopped working. The speedo starts showing weird errors when the bike isn't producing proper voltage.

Cool! I shall ask the mechanic to check it. However, the starter cool was replaced about a month back @ sadashivnagar ktm (a horrible service centre). Now I'm having my own doubts. The bike has been acting crazy ever since I had the coil and battery replaced there. I had no other option but to stop there since the bike had stalled nearby!

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Have you installed any external electricals like Horn etc. on your bike. It at all, this maybe the reason of starter coil going bad again.Originally posted by zma10 View PostCool! And also, the problems like zero on speedo you faced were while headlight was ON?

No external electricals on my bike. No the speedo indications go crazy any time. Even when the headlamp is off they behave crazy.Originally posted by AkshayA View PostHave you installed any external electricals like Horn etc. on your bike. Re: KTM 200 Duke
The most predominant signs of starter coil going weak is speedo doing crazy things while headlight on. Maybe if thats not the case you console is goneOriginally posted by zma10 View PostNo external electricals on my bike. No the speedo indications go crazy any time.
