Also can any one share some tips for Re-Fueling the D200 while on a long ride ( 800 kms + ) on saddle as it will help plan the 'Fuel Stop' frequency
Here is what i had followed on recent 2500km trip, once the fuel indicator dropped to 3 bars from bottom (let's say bottom two are 'reserve' plus one), i start looking for a petrol bunk and filled up the tank at the next available bunk. Maybe I am just paranoid of running out of fuel I prefer to have a bigger margin of safety.
The tank full on a d200 is 11 litres, and when you hit the low fuel warning (i.e. only bottom two segments are lit up) you will have approx 2 litres of fuel and so a full tank will take in approx 9 litres if u refill immediately on hitting low fuel warning.

If you maintain speeds of around 80 - 85 kmph consistently , you can extract a mileage of around 37 kmpl , anything over 90 consistently and the mileage will drop down to 33 and below. So if you want to calculate your fueling according to mileage (in case the fuel guage goes faulty) then on a full tank, you can assume 240 km to be a safe distance before you start looking for a bunk to tank up again.

Also Bike used to rev up to 6-7k rpm while turning to right.Does the condition of throttle cable has anything to do with electric start??

      Thanks In advance.

Pl search on this forum, and i have described how to check the stator coil. The next item to check would be the RR unit (try to swap one from a proper working bike). the battery voltages need to be within spec at various rpm's if your stator coil and RR unit are working correctly.
I have also posted links to the workshop manual of the duke, pl take time to search and locate it.
You will also need to have the wiring checked, and clean the various contacts and inspect for any lose connections/rust and put it back together.

The rev's rising up while turning the handle bar is a very dangerous thing. Please check the throttle cable and make sure it is routed properly and if you find it has any dings n knicks go ahead and replace it.
Hi Vinu I was wondering if you managed to solve the starting problem you had with your bike.
The problem is still persisting for me even after replacing the stator coil, starter relay. I also got the rust found at the terminals cleaned.
Now the SVC ppl want me to replace the entire wiring kit of the bike. I am pretty skeptical about it. I'd appreciate your update on this.
      Thanks

I think they just kept the European model spec in the Indian page.

I will be surprised if it ain't a shoddy copy-paste job which ktm (especially in india) is known for.
The D200 of course comes with ABS as standard in countries such as the UK etc.. where it is exported to from India.
For a couple of days the D200 was missing from their website (i did send them an email asking for clarification, but never got a response) and it reappeared shortly.

God knows what are they doing. I wish ABS was available as option.

Ever since the last service my bike is having trouble starting up in the mornings and evenings.
If the bike is parked for 9-10 hours, then it always takes a lot of cranking to start-up with throttle closed in neutral.
If the throttle is opened then it starts up easily, but engine dies if throttle is closed.
The problem persists till the bike has warmed up for about 5-10 mins.

Can any one shed any light on this issue. Issue happened after my last service where clutch plates were changed. (27000Kms on the odo)
I believe the ASC adjusted the valve clearance too. Could it be that the clearance is too small?
Also the clutch is very heavy compared to what it was previously, I am not sure if that has anything to do with cold starts.

If any one has some idea on issue please respond.

Duke 200 is going to be discontinued in favor of Duke 250 soon, so this misleading information on website wont matter!

Read on motorbeam (16th April), saying that KTM has refused to launched the 250s in India. They are bound for markets where 250s are more popular like Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, etc.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

For all I know, 250 was launched for Japan, since 250cc is popular over there. Never know, it may be a norm or a rumour. But won't replace 200 in india.

Got the new Michelin Pilot Street Radials 110/70 R17 and 150/60 R17 for my D200 last weekend. Stock MRF front was almost bald and rear one got 5 five punctures and started giving me shocks. Got them from Cherry's JC road. I was planning for the famous Michelin 140/70, but heard that they came up with the duke stock size tires now. Still running in and just about 60 or 70 km old now.

                              First impressions:
                              1. Tires look very good on the bike, has a lot of treads compared to MRF and can now avoid random stranger asking questions about why the tire is so bald. It looks a lot normal now.
                              2. More rounded profile than the stock tires. I feel like only a narrow area is in contact with roads . The bike tends to lean automatically on corners. Front tire feels a bit hard to maneuver. I am still getting used to it.
                              3. It already started raining in Bangalore and had a fair bit of wet road ride from office. Here is the biggest difference i felt from the stock. It feels a lot in control and grippy in wet road. This what the treads are used for.

Hope fully a very worthy upgrade.
