In addition to what jd666 said, air cooling fins might not be of much additional help on an engine generating as much heat.
Riding the bike with a damaged liquid-cooling system would surely reduce the life of the engine, fins or no fins.I like 'em Naked

quite neat bro.. can't we get it here in India anywhere?Originally posted by spiralbrain View PostHi,
Thanks man, I ordered it years ago from Dog Tags- Custom Personalized Military Identification Thought it looks better as a Duke keychain than it did on my neck. I think it was $6 for a set delivered from US.
I would like to let everyone know that the stalling issue with my Duke has been resolved. The problem was fuel related. Yesterday I emptied the tank to a low level and moved to a different fuel station. The bike does not stall like it did earlier. I also reved it hard as it has now completed 1100 Kms. Hope this will help someone else. The best alarm clock is sunshine on chrome.

I would highly advise against running a fuel injected bike on reserve mode. The fuel pump will get damaged very early. To confirm it please go through pages of R15 V1 thread..Originally posted by hunkofgals View Post@AnupamOnWheels
" It's not correct to calculate mileage by reserve to reserve method(you can see that even when you see the low fuel indicator first time, move/shake the bike a little and that indicator will go). Best thing to do is to follow Tankful to Tankful method. Fill the tank completely or upto a mark you can see and distinguish, then ride for some 200 - 300 Kms and then fill the tank again upto the same mark/or completely. Now check the amount of fuel and divide the distance travelled by this amount. Try this method and post your results. "
u mean i need to ride until the bike stops and then again fill it till the brim ?
but i was said not to run the bike when low fuel light sign pops up !
.
ok il update u guys with my highway experience ,
my plan got postponed to the weekend

il post after that

Hello fellow riders, I finally got Duke'd yesterday...
I had got a call for delivery at 5.50pm last evening and was asked to reach the showroom before 6.30pm. I was in goregaon (w) at my shop alone so had to wait for somebody to come and look after the shop. Finally my beloved wife came and i left from goregaon at 6.15 (I was lucky enough to get a rickshaw immediately
)
I finally got going and just before I reached andheri subway saw one of my friend riding next to my rickshaw... I stopped him and said i am getting the delivery of my Duke. He said leave the rick and join me (btw guys he owns a 2010 CBR1000RR) But was riding its smaller sibling the honda activa
he uses the activa for local commuting
We finally reached the showroom at 6.40pm. At the showroom Kunal one of my friend was already waiting for me, without his help I wouldn't have got the delivery!!! Kunal also owns a Ninja 250 and an R15 V1(my ex-steed). I was asked to wait for all the paper work to get over. Finally it was all done and got the delivery from sai service, andheri (e), bombay, last evening at around 7 pm.
The odometer showed 17kms, bike looked neat but not as clean as I'd liked it to be. Nevertheless I was just eager to ride it after almost being bike less for 1.5 years.
Was explained the basics of the cockpit though I knew most of it... thanks to our fellow Duke'rs and their ownership experiences
I was given a coupon of just 1ltr petrol and asked to fill up only 'speed'! Got the free 1ltr petrol and also tanked up with 'speed' only!!!

what is petrol fumes ?Originally posted by jd666 View PostProblem on the Duke is that if you tank it up to the brim, then there are a lot of petrol fumes that emanate from the fuel filler. This causes a lot of wastage of petrol.
Better option would be to wait till you hit reserve , start your trip meter when you do. Tank up a fixed amount - say 5 litres, and then measure till you hit reserve again.
Not been able to put in more than 7-7.5 litres of fuel once the bike hits reserve, and still the fuel fumes are a bother for the first 20-30 kms.
u mean smell ?
.
that is what i didnt doOriginally posted by shv18 View PostI would highly advise against running a fuel injected bike on reserve mode. The fuel pump will get damaged very early. To confirm it please go through pages of R15 V1 thread..
Cheers,
i didnt run on reserve mode
