I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can help us on this.

I doubt its a "Bajaj" thing. The brakes are by Bybre on the Duke and I'm sure they aren't Bybre on the 135LS.
The braking is fantastic however. I have to brake later than I usually do on the other bikes.

Has anyone else noticed how riding this bike somehow makes the "posers" wild and causes them to ride rashly around you? In a short 50 km ride, I came across atleast 6 of such mental cases on the road.

Also this happens only with light braking. As you increade the braking pressure on the lever, then sound reduces .. As far as other bikes go, the sound is there but probably much lesser. Ride an r15 and the brakes will whirr happily under light braking. And as far as braking is concerned, r15 is the boss. Not starting a brand war. Its just a comparo for understanding ..
Once the pads are worn out there will be a grinding sound. Thats when youll need to worry. So chill out, its normal AFAIK. Please feel free to correct me if im wrong ..

    1. The palm rests/grips are way too hard (Easily corrected by using a pair of gloves)
    2. The seat, though well shaped and of very nice material, is a bit too hard for my taste. Gets really uncomfortable after a full hour of city riding.

So 1 can be taken care of easily as I have mentioned. But the 2nd one I am yet to solve. Do you guys know any shop in Bangalore or an online shop which sells good Gel/Silicon saddles/seat covers?..

the sound only comes when we press the front brake
then how can u say its wind noise
if its wind noise it should come all the time na
and it happens only with front brake
    .
and ya the palm grips are poky and it hurts sometimes and remedy to it , i don't want to use gloves ,
    and about seat
even i was about to ask this , can we put some extra foam or such thing ?
does it increase the overall seating height ?
Im just 5'6'' and my legs touch the ground barely and only one leg can be landed properly which is enough for me
but if i put foam then height will increase na and wont it difficult for me to reach the ground ?

    • Horn too dull ?

Anyone thinking of replacing the stock horn ?
Its sounds like they've ripped it out of a scooty and stuck it in the duke.

I have the same issue from my Duke. Though I thought it was a whirring noise like that of an electrical relay, rather than noise from the front disc.

I came to ask the exact same question!

Seriously, the puny horn is embarrassing. I would replace it pronto but I'm afraid it might void the warranty. Thoughts?

It will definitely void the warranty. Manufacturers always look out for a reason to NULL the warranty, a non-oem horn would give them a viable option.

It will not void the warranty on the bike, but i guess it might effect the warranty on the battery.
Usually, incase there is a non-OEM issue the bike manufacturer refers you to the OEM, incase of tyres, battery etc and for a new bike they pretty much have it replaced without a glitch.

Skipping past the warranty issues, has anyone already changed the horn on their duke ? Any specific horns that you guys think would go well with the duke ? or any shops (in mumbai) that I could check out ?

                  • hey guys
I'm back from my 220 kms trip
                    .
i started today morning at 6 am sharp
and the distance is 110 kms and total is 220 kms up and down ,
and reached the place at 7:50 AM
and then had breakfast and started at 8:20 Am and back home at 10:20 AM

i was cruising at speeds of 70-80 km/hr
                    and average speed was 60km/hr
                    and i got a mileage of 41 km/lts on board was 45-48 km/lt
i calculated mileage as i filled tank full yesterday till brim, ran 220 kms so
220 / 5.33 lts ( filled 5 lts only as i already had remaining 5.5 lts in tank before filling the petrol )
and now the petrol came to same level i filled yesterday so all 5.33 lts are used up
                    .
and touched the bike to 120km/hr twice
and at that speed the bike struggles to go more and is struck at 120
                    I'm thinking after 1st service it'll give 138
but i was with pillion all the time so thought it goes only till 120 but i stopped because i didn't wanna stress my engine as its still in run-in period
                    .
                    over all experience was good
                    except butt aches
it pains like hell and every often i needed to change my seating position
I'm looking for some alternate to the current seat
I'm thinking of going for a foam which are used in home sofa's
                    .
and the bike temperature remained constant at 5 bars through out the journey
and the bike was easily cruising at speeds of 80-90 km/hr also

                    .
The only problem i faces is aching butt
il soon change my seat and post some review on it

                      and about horns
dont know whether ur bike's warranty or battery's warranty is gonna get void
but putting a louder horn requires cut out / relay and u need to alter few wires and in this ur bike's warranty wil be void as ur messing with the bike wiring and even ur battery's warranty will be void to because of using a different , louder horn than stock
                      .
if u still want to go for a louder one
get Stebel Nautilius ( popularly known as thunder horns ) very loud and is priced around 1200-1400 rs but worth the money . we have this horn in both of our cars and even on DIO
                      .
go ahead and try with u it , if u don't give a damn about warranty

u have two buttons on the left side of the console
one is mode and another is set
press the mode button until u get FE
it shows ur FE with km/lt unit beside
                          so that's ur FE
and u even get how liters are used for 100kms
                          as 100/lts

The whirring noise is not wind noise. Please read my post carefully. I said it the noise of the pads scraping away during contact with the disc at the ventilation spots. Its NOT a problem.
Its only a problem if you want it to be one in which case, your problem cannot be resolved because it is a normal "problem".

I've seen many videos with superbikes doing stoppies and the same whirring noise is present!!!
Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.
