30 plus is a decent mileage that i am getting with somezipping and sane riding. Works for me. Realistic everyday figure should be around 32-34.
Btw tanked up the last two times or rather say the second and third times with speed 97. Does great for the refinement and smoothness, just like it used fo in the R15
May the force be with you

Mileage
I got 37 and 38 during the run in period calculating through the tank full to tank full method. After 1st service I got 27 and 34 as the redlining / raising it to 10k RPM was happening at largeOriginally posted by joel_sherly View Postthe review at iamabiker.com says that the mileage of the bike is between 22 and 25 kmpl in city riding conditions...
but the owners in this thread seem to get 30+ kmpl..
can someone tell me the exact mileage figures under hard riding conditions.
However I've seen guys who have got 55kmpl and all as they drive very very consciously ( conscious on mileage )

Thanks for the heads up bro. I have made the change on the quoted post.Originally posted by The Mountain View PostJust a quick note: there is a DOT 5 brake fluid too. DO NOT USE THIS FLUID. It was used in some Harleys, and may still be used in some other automotive applications. DOT 5 brake fluid is silicon-based, and does not absorb moisture the way the glycol-based DOT 4 does. DOT 4 disperses any absorbed moisture throughout the fluid, gradually becoming darker as it absorbs (you do change your brake fluid every 2 years like the manufacturer recommends, right?). DOT 5, since it is hydrophobic, causes moisture to build up in small pockets, where it can corrode the brake system faster, and where the pockets of water can boil more quickly, causing the brakes to potentially stop working.
Also, DOT 3 is glycol-based, and is technically similar to DOT4. However, DOT3 has a lower boiling point than DOT4, which might actually matter with a bike like the Duke. You could probably get away with using DOT3 in most Indian bikes since they are not exactly high-performance, but the Duke is probably sporty enough that it might heat the front brake beyond what DOT3 could handle.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

It was shown in a slide during the DIY session. Although, I forgot it's price but it surely do cost a bomb. They have one Anti Theft system which has good features. Not sure whether the same was shown or not, but the price range was around 35000 Rs(As far as I can recall).Originally posted by joel_sherly View Postthats good to hear
i thought they were absent..
any idea how much the theft control costs?
Sane riding in city can give you surely 30 - 35 KMPL. Highway riding or even riding with less traffic can give you around 35 - 45 KMPL. Obviously if you Rip the bike you can expect lesser mileage figures. Also, if you ride it in 1st -2nd gear in around 5 - 20 KMPH speed(say 80% of your commute involves a very bad piece of road or maddeining traffic or both) you can even get around 20 - 30 KMPL.Originally posted by joel_sherly View Postthe review at iamabiker.com says that the mileage of the bike is between 22 and 25 kmpl in city riding conditions...

It looks good, but it's better to get it colored again...Originally posted by hunkofgals View Posthttps://picasaweb.google.com/1004514...eaderMay182012

Nothing to rectify. The rear tire or brake is not faulty in Duke atleast. If you are experiencing the wheel skidding often, then it could be a problem with your riding style. Try to use both brakes with ratio of 70:30(Front:Rear) or Max 60:40(Front:Rear). Also if possible you can simply ignore the rear brake and go with the front alone. For e.g - I normally use only the front brake with just a little added help from rear for normal to a bit hard stop. To only slow down(No stopping) the bike I use the rear only. For hard to Panic braking I use both with somewhat gradually building the pressure. Hope it helps.Originally posted by joel_sherly View Posthow to rectify the rear wheel skidding when applying rear brake???___________________________________________

A weird experience with my Duke
Guyz, here I am going to share a weird experience with my bike. Today after riding for some 20 - 30 minutes in rain and then after washing my bike throughly, I planned to go for a very short trip just to drip or evaporate the water. When I switched on the ignition everything was cool. But soon the Malfunction indicator light(The Red one, not the yellow one I mean) started blinking in an odd fashion. After every 5 seconds of blinking it was staying ON(stays lit)for 2 - 3 seconds and was repeating the same.
With a confused mind and a heart beating faster than normal, I started the engine. To my surprise the MIL light didn't go OFF. I also took it for a 100 mtrs ride, but the light was ON constantly(no blinking was there at that time). When I stopped it again and just turned the ignition ON again the same blinking and constant ON phenomena started.

Now I am completely confused with this and will surely take my bike to the SVC tomorrow. But, still in the mean time can anyone give some hints/explanation or share any experience like this?
P.S. - In the troubleshooting section of the owners manual it says if the MIL stays ON, then its the FI system fault.___________________________________________
