I am not questioning the build quality of Duke and I also rate it high; but the naked sensors are a bit of problem here. My MIL light ON problem solved after keeping the bike parked for whole 1 day and after that riding it for some 10 - 15 minutes. Though I am new to this type of hi-tech ECU and sensor laden bike; I still think if these things could be designed a bit better. Only riding the bike in rain for some 30 minutes or washing it with water at home should not do trick to the sensors.

Do share details about the performance upgrades.

and pardon my ignorance..i dont know about the usage of parking lamps either.. if someone could help me please..
I am not 100% sure about the price but did a search and found that some anti theft systems for bigger Dukes abroad cost as much as 13K -15K. I can assure you that the price of the model I have seen during the DIY was shocking.

AFAIK FZ doesn't come with built in Anti theft systems. Maybe your friend installed it personally. I am still not sure waht you meant by "parking lights". If you mean what we have in our cars - i.e. four or more turn indicators blinking when you park the vehicle, remove the key and press the parking switch ON; then it's not available in Duke. You have to go for a Mod if you want that. The indicators in Duke works as simple turn indicators. Let me know if this clears the doubt.

Actually I use any of the method mentioned above . Experts could you please guide me
Both brakes should be applied together coupled with a bit of engine braking if required. However, sometimes depending upon ones instinct or habbit , anyone(front or rear) is pressed first.

Its more than 10 days since I took the delivery and slowly/steadily I'm gaining control over the bike (first few days it was the bike ). The handle is a bit hard for a typical software engineer - but guess anyone would get used to it. The only accessory I felt necessary at this point is a a Shift Sock (saw this in duke200 fb: Performance Racing Store. SHIFT SOCK) else finding it a bit difficult to shift the gears with shoes like Nike air.
I haven't tried the Nitrogen yet. I am not too sure whether this is available in Kolkata or not.

One shift shock for 1000 bucks. I think I am better without that.

    • Have filled Nitrogen. Really improves the ride quality and handling. Noticeable difference.

As a mention to all, I know its cumbersome, but you can use thread tools at the top to search this thread for keywords like nitrogen, and any and all previous discussions on the topic ( in this thread only ) would be listed.

This keeps repetitive posts and replies to a minimum.

This review says the duke gives <20 kmpl of mileage!!!!!!!!

        This certainly shook me
Dude that article was written before Bajaj people started selling the Duke..

Many people wrote that the bike would be a fuel sucker but it didn't turnout to be 1.

        • Hi All

Yesterday night a bike got stolen from our flat's parking and now I am concerned as to how to secure my Duke. Any suggestions? Please do suggest where can I get a good lock for my Duke in Bangalore.

Also, another question specific to Bangalore.
I got by bike delivered on 28th March. Its registered at KR Puram RTO. However I have not received the smart card yet. Can anyone tell as to how long does it take for the smart card to arrive. I was told by the showroom guys that it will be delivered by post at my residence.

          Thanks!!

Kindly go through the thread. Disc locks have been discussed before and how to procure them.
Regarding the smart card. It usually takes around 2 to 3 months for it to arrive. I got the smart for a Honda Dio bought in Feb only by the end of April and it was registered to Koramangala RTO.

Dude.. Get yourself a good disk lock (Xena preferably) and buy a heavy duty chain and lock and tie you bike to a firm pipe or something..

I got my smart card in about a month or something but i can't comment for you as i am from Mumbai..

Thefts from overnight parking are almost always loaded into a vehicle, rather than driven away. Therefore, neither a disc lock nor an immobiliser-type alarm will make any difference, since the thief will simply load your bike as-is into the van and take it somewhere safe. Once he has it on his own turf he can take his time and get rid of both. Better to buy a heavy chain lock, like a Kryptonite "Fuhgeddaboutit" chain/lock system. Chain your bike to something immovable and not easily cuttable, like a thick metal post e.g. a lamp post. Don't chain to a drain pipe, as these are commonly just plastic, which can be broken or cut in a matter of minutes, or a fencerail, since they're thin enough to cut easily. Also, don't chain your bike in a way that the chain rests on the ground, if you can avoid it, as that can make it possible for the thief to use a heavy chisel to cut it. Other alternatives are to convince your apartment management to allow you to install an in-ground anchor for the chain.

Current bike: Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere

Put the phone away, put your helmet on, and ride!

Scooters are like fat girls: fun to ride, but embarrassing if your friends see you with one.

And are there any affordable alternatives to that. I just checked the price on the internet.. it costs $ 1,250 :O

                  • Is it true that if the duke stalls , the engine must be killed before re-starting????

And what is so special about the immobiliser

I'm not sure about the direct availability of Kryptonite locks in India, but I am sure you can get them online, as you apparently found.

The "Fahgeddaboutit" is about $105 through Amazon, not $1250. Its big brother, the "Legend" is about the same price at the moment (on sale). That price will approximately double if you go through any of the various websites that let you order from Amazon in India. However, that still puts the price at only about 9000 or 10,000 rupees. I am assuming your bike is worth more than that.

A note on those locks: They are HEAVY. They both weigh around 9KG, so they are probably better suited to use at your main parking location, rather than carrying it around with you, unless you have a high-value bike.

and the bike's gear box became ultra smooth and gear shifting is very precise and finding neutral is very easy now
and the bike shoots like a rocket in 2nd gear
                            .
total amount payed in SVC - 85 Rs for the oil filter that it
and oil costed me 1450 Rs for 2x 1lts can
                            .
overall the servicing was pretty good
                            and no bitter feelings
