  • hey guys
    ive made a custom made
radiator guard to protect the radiator from small stones and mud

    materials used
    Stainless steel mesh ( 2x2 sq ft ) - 30 Rs
Riveting and making - 110 Rs
    Painting - 190 Rs

    Total- 30 + 110 + 190 = 330 Rs

    .
i didn't remove the radiator, i placed the mesh and got it riveted to the existing guard so it'll be firm and sturdy and wont allow gravel and stones to hit the radiator
over all its fine and sturdy and adds little detail to the bike with that orange tinge and white KTM logo

    • Fuel gauge troubles

Alert: Repeating my post on FB group.

Duke magic!! The fuel indicator which had stopped working about 3000Km ago has suddenly come back to life!!
Last weekend, I had been to Auto Service to get the fuel sensor replaced. But the guys there figured that the sensor is fine and doesn't need replacement. So, they didn't work on the issue on that day. Today, I went and topped up the tank. And voila, the indicator shows full tank!! I'm perplexed.
Can someone come up with an explanation for this?

PS: I don't think this is a fuel quality issue, since I have been tanking up good quality fuel most of the times.

That's a good home made mod!

Dude last time u posted pics of your bike, the exhaust was uncoloured as u used scotch brite on it.. How come the colour is back??

U got it painted again or what?

EDIT: And that steel mesh is not looking 2x2 dude.. 2x2 is very big for the radiator!

          • Duke front break Diameter

What is the front disc spec of duke? The manual given to us and the softcopy of the european manual says 280 mm, the KTM website says 300 mm as does the xbhp review(they probably have taken it from the site).
            I am confused.
Somebody please measure it say it's 300 so that I can again revel in the knowledge that the duke's brakes are bigger and better than the competition (read Ninja and CBR )

I think he said the color returned on its own after some riding. Probably due to presence of some alloys in the steel. This is , however, not the shiny smooth color as in the original.

no i haven't painted the header
the color is changing back to copper finish again
and i haven't ridden the bike much after i used the scrotch brite , and if i have ridden it would have changed back to that copper finish not exactly like the stock but some what similar
                  .
                  and i bought 2x2 sheet that's it
but used very little which was sufficient so i cant calculate the amount for that small piece of mesh used so i gave the total amount of money for 2x2 sheet which i purchased !

Yes you're right on the part that it is 300mm.

source - 200 Duke - Technical Details KTM (this is India specific)

but about your opinion, it is for sure bigger as the stats say but better? I don't want to go there cos there is no point comparing 2 bikes of different nature.

Yeah, the website says 300mm. But the manual, which is also India specific says 280 mm. Incidentally, the european manual also says 280 mm for the front.I don't know which is true until I take a measurement myself.

The comparison with the other bikes were made in jest and should not be taken seriously. Both of them are great bikes.

oh ok, I get the confusion now, in that case we would have to measure it personally.
If I get a chance i'll update the feedback here.

Hey Joel, changing to a softer setting will definitely decrease e cornering performance of the bike... Though, on a day to day basis I doubt you will feel the difference... Unless you take your baby to the track, I don't think it will make a world of a difference... Good luck

The front brake is awesome and really bites. So me happy whether 280 or 300!

I somehow feel the bite is not ferocious enough on my bike. The free play on the brake lever should be adjusted perhaps as it has to be engaged a lot to enable braking. The breaks are plenty good, make no mistake, but the feeling of it being sharp and very biting as has been reported by so many people here, is not there.
The CBR 250 ABS I had test driven before buying the duke had better bite IMO as compared to MY duke. I have highlighted 'my' here because I have not driven any other duke so can't say for the duke in general.
If only I get a chance to ride another duke!

PS : Got my registration number today,19 days after the purchase. Phew. Papers will be given tomorrow is what I have been told.

I agree.. I have the same opinion myself. Would have to test my friends bike's brakes to confirm for sure before taking it to SVC.
Could it be that Bajaj has reduced the brake bite after feedback?
