I hope i have not missed out anything.

Any reply from KTM on your exhaust header discoloration?
I just noticed that I'm facing the same too :P

The bend pipe of silencer was replaced by the PBK as it was defective at the time of delivery, had to wait for quite a long time for the parts to arrive.

The color changing to purple is normal but mine was defective at the time of delivery itself so they agreed to get that replaced.

You can use either oil as long as the grade is 20W50.
300V 4T Factory Line 15W50 is double ester technology. This is 15W50

7100 4T 20W50: 100% synthetic lubricant based on Ester Technology.

At the DIY session they mentioned 7100 4T or Bajaj DTSi. I would stick to that or whatever is mentioned in the user manual (I am yet to get my duke so cannot quote the manual).

        • Color changing of chrome parts due to heating is normal, take a look at the image attached, same happened to a plated screwdriver when I tried to reshape it using a grinder.

            Disclaimer*
I cannot say how Brasso will react to the heat. Although if you polish it up well without leaving traces of the polish you shouldn't have any problems
Discoloration is a big problem for any chromed exhaust. Since many Harley riders in the US prefer to have spotless chrome on their bikes, a number of manufacturers have come out with metal polishes specifically designed to remove discoloration from exhaust systems. Google "motorcycle exhaust polish" for some ideas. One product that is mentioned frequently is "Bluejob". Also, as noted, the discoloration is caused by high heat. This is often the result of a very lean fuel mixture. It might be worth bugging the shop to see if they'll remap the fuel injector for a slightly richer mixture.

              • Got my Duke today. Yay!
One thing I've noticed is that engine heats up very easily. Does this get better after the engine sets in or do I have to live with it forever?

                • This is the best mileage figure (56 kmpl) displayed on my KTM thus far during a ride from Bangalore to Hosur and back again on Saturday. Have done about 800 km on the bike so far. This is only the second time ever I have landed a 56. However, I am aware the mileage display is not very accurate.

Guys, those are great mileage figures. What was your riding speeds and what gear. Please let us know, so we can try achieving that too

Initially during the run in period, engine WILL heat up considerably, after which slowly you will notice it become less and become normal, but yes, it will heat up more compared to regular bikes, so be prepared.

                            That's a relief. Phew!
I was worried sick, considering the total ride was only for about 10kms from the point of delivery.

And the gear downshift is a bit stiff too.

There were a lots of questions about the bike being "phoren" @ the gas station.

Can't wait for the end of run in period.

                              Congrats for your new ride.

Dont worry about heating. It will heat up for sure if you are in traffic and as someone else said you will slowly learn to live with it.

And the questions people ask , make you laugh.Once a paaaaji quoted "2 can be accomodated somehow but not for 3".
