  • I also plan to book KTM Duke 200 very soon. I was in two minds whether to wait for the Pulsar 200 or not. But this review by Power To the Rider convince me. KTM Duke 200 Review - Power to the Rider - YouTube

Am already excited to ride the bike after looking at this.

    • Warranty issues

Anyone here tried claiming warranty for the DUKE? I had a small chip in my swing arm and in the clutch cover (RHS engine cover), and the DUKE sticker to be replaced on the RHS of the Orange Tank part.

So today I called up the SVC center and the manager said that under warranty they were only expected to touch up the part if it was not heavily damaged, OR he could replace the parts by swapping them with a BRAND NEW KTM 200 DUKE that would be making it's way to the SVC center tomorrow :-s
I was against it at first but then he said that they would not be able to order new parts for minor scratches and they usually only did touch ups at the very most. So I had no choice but to accept the offer. He did say that they would touch up the Parts they swapped from my bike to the other NEW KTM So that there was no issue with the next buyer...But somehow I just don't feel right going through with this...
Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Of course it is not right.. that's complete bull crap bro.. they can't just swap part from new bikes..

Just imagine how would you feel if you come to know that the parts on your bike were replaced by some other KTM Duke which were faulty?

BTW who said that to you? Was it some Ghatkopar SVC guy?

          • Got my Duke 200 from PBK vasant vihar , new delhi.
They have 2-3 bikes available in stock for instant delivery , I got my bike same day , My current setting on digi-console is set to show time/Avg speed. How can I change is to show fuel economy per liter.
I checked it from service manual but didn’t find any info (May be I missed it).
Can any duke owner guide to set the desired mode on digi-console.

                • engine radiator heat

Once in a bumper to bumper traffic a person was riding his bike next to me in shorts. He complained to me that my bike was getting too hot, as he could also feel the hot air from the radiator fan.

I have already mentioned this in the ninja 250r thread.. however, for the benefit of the larger Duke'd masses , i would recommend using Engine Ice Coolant. I have ridden Abhimanyu31's R16 and have witnessed its cooling effects. You ride will be running atleast 5-10'C cooler at its peak engine operating temperature. Atleast on Abhimanyu31's ride, the radiator fan never came on!!

However, having said that the Engine Ice Coolant pricewise, is bit on the higher side. If i am correct, it comes in 2 ltr bottle. May be 2-3 Duke riders can chip in the dough and enjoy the benefits of the same!!

For more information do get in touch with Abhimanyu31.

                  Cheers,

                  • Has anyone encountered a puncture on the Duke ? is it easy for the local puncture mechanic to open up front/rear tyres ?

bro - its tubeless. So very easy to fix punctures. a 10 min job. Carry a puncture repair kit along if you are going on long rides. Some even carry a foot pump along with this so don't have to look for compressed air.

Open up the tyres from the rims???? They don't need to!! It's tubeless (In perfect world, they should be repaired from inside but in India no-one does that)

                        • Adjusting the Shift Speed RPM2 / Changing RPM2

The Manual on the Duke is wrong on Page 36, Adjusting the Shift Speed RPM2. The steps mentioned are the same as adjusting shift speed RPM1. However, we need to hold down SET button for 5-6 secs to change the RPM2 setting instead of the MODE button. This was wrong in the DUKE 125 manual as well.

Check out the following video: How to set up the ''shift-up'' light on KTM 125 Duke - YouTube

Have sent a note through KTM's India website.

I have a quick question if we hold down SET button in TRIP2 Mode, won't it reset TRIP2 to 0 ?

EDIT: What's the optimal setting for RPM1 and RPM2 after 1st Service / 1000 kms, if at all any ? I have set it at 7500 / 10000 will this create any issues, given that I haven't revved the vehicle over 7500 at all during the first 1000kms ? a

It is a known issue and KTM India officials had promised to rectify it in future delivery lots.

Yes you do end up resetting TRIP2 before you get to the RPM2 settings.

                            • Done with first service

Clocked 1000 kms finally in 20 days and left it in Auto Service, Bangalore today.

Good thing that they have started stocking MOTUL 7100 (may be on demand), had confirmed with them so that i didn't have to carry it.

First things first, a few words about Auto Service. Though i had read a lot about Venkat's Auto Service, this was my first major visit there and aren't we lucky to have them in Bangalore?

                              1. 9.00 AM - Went there to leave the vehicle, the mechanic came with a job card within 10 seconds, took my bike inside, completed the formalities,he gave me an estimate of 1000Rs, left the center to work.

                              2. 5.00 PM - Got a call that the bike is ready for pick up with the bill of around 1200 (since i insisted on Motul), he mentioned that service center closes at 6.30 PM. I had some work, so kindly requested the mechanic to stay there for another 15 - 20 mins, so that i can pick up the bike.

                              3. 7.30 PM - Courtesy Bangalore Traffic , reached the service center , was really really surprised to see the mechanic waiting outside the closed service center for me alone(yes, in the dark) with my KTM and his bike . Apologized with him for my delay , though he was humble handed over my keys and the bike, and the bill.

                              4. The bike was looking so neat with the 3M Wax Polishing, engine sounds great, gear shifts are butter smooth. I must admit the bike feels more refreshed now than on the delivery day.

Hands down , the best service center in town ! Kudos to Venkat, and his team for their professionalism, not to forget their work on the bike.

i changed to motul, but still heat is there. yeap i always turn off engine at red lights. in 6 gear heat is never felt, but in heavy traffic and heavy gears, i still feel the heat.
