Thanks a lot Shubz. Quick question - Which Coolant to use in Duke(is it Motocool Expert from Motul) and which Engine Oil best for the first service? Can I start using a fully synthetic one from say 600 KMs?Originally posted by Shubz View Post___________________________________________

See if you can get Castrol Radicool Readymix. Is Motocool expert a pre-mixed coolant? If you want to use the Motul stuff, make sure you flush out the Castrol coolant (originally filled).Originally posted by AnupamOnWheels View PostThanks a lot Shubz. You can use FS. But why on 600 - why not ride another 400?

Yes Motocool is premixed. Only 10 - 12 days remaining of 1st service. I am not sure I'll get ample oppertunity to clock 1000 KMs before 1st service. Now it's only 360 Kms, I'll add maybe 350+ in next 10 days.Originally posted by Shubz View PostSee if you can get Castrol Radicool Readymix. Is Motocool expert a pre-mixed coolant? Motocool is actually a bit more expensive when compared to castrol radicool but if they don't get stock of the Castrol Radicool Coolant Ready-Mix soon ( can't find it anywhere in Bandra) Then I'm gonna switch over to Motocool instead, and yes I'll have to Bleed and Flush out the Castrol Coolant before that. What is the cost of the Motocool Coolant again? I remmebr it costing somewhere in the region of Rs.450-500? Anyone?Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Its not about the money u pay, Its wat ur machine is capable of, Both the Duke and CBR have a power output of 25bhp(liquid cooled,DOHC), and Duke is around 20kgs lighter, I dont no how "torque factor" is going to help in a drag race but i feel Duke should v been quicker.....& I m not goin to sell Duke for a CBR even if it beats DUKE by miles..Originally posted by rjswaroop2004 View PostYo glad to hear mate... Infact i was part of the GIRT @ Chennai and even i had the indicator reading ~60 kpl.
Who cares
i own a duke and i love it... i could hardly ride it at over 110kmph ... and i always stay ahead of others at signals... so even if it is true... my 1.3L monster beats the 1.1L r15 in a drag and who the hell wants to have a comparo with the 1.7L machine...)Last edited by Rajathslr; 04-18-2012, 09:56 AM.

How deep is your cut on the tire? May be one strip isn't sufficient to close the cut; you might want to consider using a filler.Originally posted by devesh38 View PostAny other suggestions? Dont want the rear tyre to be removed by local guy to check for leaks anywhere else.
Worst case, remove the tire from the alloy wheel & this time, fix the strip inside out. Unless the shop that you're getting it done has a torque wrench, do not ask them to carry it out; OR, get the torque adjusted immediately at ASC after they complete their job.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

I think he was just asking me to be over cautious. It is not restricted, you can rev it above 7.5K right now. Only the change lights are set to 7.5kOriginally posted by Debashish View Post1. Restricted to 7500 rpm till 1000 km and then no ripping till2-3k?
Why advertise 0-60 and 0-100 times if you don't want ppl to rev hard?
2. Where did you source the oil from?
I got the oil from Motul rep in Delhi, you can call him on 9999111087 his name is Mr Ashok Kumar Sales Executive Motul Delhi, He can give you the contact details of the rep in your area.

Couple of things:Originally posted by AnupamOnWheels View PostThough I am registered with Xbhp since April'11, but was not very active. After spending a year without any Bike (my earlier possession Honda Stunner got stolen a year back) I bought myself the KTM Duke 200 a month back. I will not go on with a detailed review as that is already done by several others. However, I'll try to share some of my observations/experiences here (also some questions and doubts).
1. As I got my papers just 3 - 4 days back (Thanks to the RTO and all) I hardly got time to ride it fully. I was only taking it to office from home and back, that too keeping an eye for any 'Overactive' Police guy. So the ODO is just showing just 360 odd KMs. But 2 days back I found the coolant level surprisingly low (just a mm or two over the MIN mark). Overheating is an issue with this bike, and I faced it fully. Is the overheating culprit here? Is this observed by most of the other owners or I am the only one having a problem?
2. The TD bike I drove or my own bike at the time of delivery was showing pin point accuracy while changing gears and finding neutral. But now it’s all gone, though higher gears are OK. Only problem is to find neutral from 1st gear and shifting to 2nd gear from 1st gear. Also I am feeling that the acceleration and performance is not the same as it was with the TD bike and my own in new condition. Did anyone feel the same?
3. The ORVMs are only lookers offering only little help to the rider.
4. The pillion seat is not comfortable and after a short ride of 25Km and back with my wife; she has already threatened me that she'll leave me if I beg her to accompany me on that bike again.
5. Bike is feeling a bit rough already, though 15 days left to service and only 360 KMs on the ODO.
6. Rear brake is making screeching sounds though I clean them regularly (I mean twice weekly). No problem with the front brake though. Front one is performing great.
7. I get an OSD mileage between 20 - 40. 20 when I cross through a Sabji market on my way back to home (shortcut road) and I ride mainly in 1st and 2nd gear. 40 when I find a bit of open stretch to go to 4th gear and around 45 - 50 KMPH. I haven't tried the Tankful to Tankful method yet, but have a feeling that the OSD mileage is not that honest.
8. I think the chain is already loose as I am hearing the "Khat Khat" sound a lot now-a-days. Need to visit PBK even before my service interval.
9. Suspension is good, no point to complain.
10. I sometime feel that now the bike is not delivering the power smoothly. I sometimes feel that there is a bit of jerkiness while on 1st and 2nd gear. Also the engine braking is so much in 1st/2nd gear that the instant I release the accelerator fully engine brake is applied and the bike comes from 25/30 to 15/16. Need to press the clutch in those situations.
That’ll be all from my side for now. As I am from Kolkata, I’ll be very glad to know about other fellow Kolkatan Xbhpians and Duke Owners (we can assemble sometime soon). Waiting to hear back from you all and Thanks much for creating and keeping a Thread so informative.
One, the bike isn't broken in at all yet at only 360km. As such, it's probably going to run a bit hot. Also, there might have been a bubble or two lurking in the radiator that your riding has dislodged, dropping the fluid a bit. That might account for the reduced fluid.
Two, all bikes tend to have notchy transmissions for a while when new. You're also probably getting a bit less attentive in your shifting; when it was new you probably paid close attention to how you shifted, but may be getting lazy. Also, the clutch cable may have stretched a bit, so check that as well. If the clutch isn't fully disengaging, there will be load on the gears and it will feel less smooth.
Three, that rear brake is probably either not bedded in properly, or possibly is dragging and has become glazed. Make sure your rear brake pedal is properly adjusted and that you're not inadvertently resting your foot on it.
Four, the chain may have loosened up from riding, though at 360km and on such a puny bike, one would hope not. However, I have noticed on other bikes that a loose chain makes the bike's power delivery feel uneven. Get the chain readjusted and see if the motor feels smoother. Also, check to be sure the Axle and adjuster bolts are all tight. They may have loosened up from vibration, or never been properly tightened to begin with.
Now, a question for all Duke followers: Has there been any word yet on whether the bike will be available in colors other than the Black/Orange of the initial run? I'm probably going to get myself a Duke while I wait on the Triumph Speed Triple, but I have been told that I should be riding a white bike. I've seen a really nice pic of a white Duke, but it's either a prototype/concept bike, or at least is available only in some spanish-speaking country (based on the backdrop behind it).ATGATT: All The Gear, All The Time!

The pierced hole was very small. The punture repair looked decent to me. And there was no leakage from the repair or from the valve itself. Looks like multiple punctures but am not sure.Originally posted by aargee View PostHow deep is your cut on the tire? I called the service centre today, they said they can repair it. So will be going there tomorrow.

The bike easily reached 139 kmph and then the speed limiter kicked in and got the bike to 137-138 kmph.. But going to 138 is not at all a problem..Originally posted by joshzma225 View PostI can vouch for the 138kmph top speed on the KTM 200 DUKE. On a long straight road. I really didn't check the weather for "optimum" temperature figures. And the crouching does help a bit but alas there is wind blast.
And that top speed IS KTM Quoted. And if you search around just a teeeeeeeeeeeeeny bit, you may just find a video to prove it. And not downhill, but on a straight road. In the heat of the day!!! ...Very adverse temperature conditions I should think!!!

Sory to hear bro... ride safe... wear proper riding gears
Yes it does and it does again ... but even with that, the feeling is awesome

Hi, even m frm chennai, if at all u get to know of a good "main stand for duke". Please do let me know... would be helpful

1. The SVC guy told me its around 3-4k
2. Minimum fuel
... i rode the bike till the indicator said 0 km left to ride with the fuel bar showing empty :P:P... Even after that it made a couple of kms to the nearest bunk
It does get stuck... but now less frequent ... maybe cuz i got used to it... or because of the first service

And fyi, i used only bajaj dtsi 10000 oil during 1st service and bike is actually good even after that...
Vibrations are ofcourse there .. but i guess after wearing gloves i do not feel much... just some vibes at lower gears near the foot pegs...
Who cares
i own a duke and i love it... i could hardly ride it at over 110kmph ... and i always stay ahead of others at signals... so even if it is true... my 1.3L monster beats the 1.1L r15 in a drag and who the hell wants to have a comparo with the 1.7L machine...

My questons here...
1. Were u wearing proper riding gears - ie, gloves, jackets and proper fit helmet...? Actually i just took the bike for a spin and a good song came on me fone so got in a mood to race.. Was on my shorts. But yes, i always wear my helmet..
2. Are you capable of handling such speeds... any previous experience in other bikes at such a speed? I did race Honda CB Unicorn at 120, Pulsar 150 at 115 and HH CBZ (old one) at 110. So quite some experience.. Besides i used to ride my Splendor at 80-90 kmph.
3. It is quoted as top speed and not comfortable + handling speed (however i do feel anywhere between 70 - 110 is a bliss when it comes to duke

So there you go... try wearing proper gears.. would considerably reduce the issues with stability at high speeds...Originally posted by devil_rider View PostMy questons here...

And yes the speed difference and control over it when it comes to controlling at 120kph and 140 kph differs as well...
Practice under suitable conditions ... with proper gears and you can do a stable 135+ on the duke ... of course vibrations may be felt ....

And adding to that ... my advice- please dont listen to music when riding... happy duking...-Jyo-

I painted the Tyre side wall letters today, very tedious but worth the effort.
