The manual recommends 91 RON or higher...Originally posted by santhosh443 View Postktm site suggests RON 95 fuel.
200 Duke - Downloads KTM
checkout the fuel recommendation
So we are not supposed to use the normal petrol
The normal (unadultrated) fuel available is 91 RON.
But to be on the safer side, some owners are using only Speed/Power/Premium (these are basically normal fuel with detergent like additives).I like 'em Naked

I think (and I'm only speculating here) that the the Indian Duke must have been tuned for our fuel quality.Originally posted by santhosh443 View PostYes manual recommends 91 RON and ktm site recommends RON 95
Iam confused ...
To achieve this compression we need to use higher octane fuel ..
But for my bike, I would take the word of the Indian Duke manual over the International KTM site

I got my KTM Duke two days back.
Delivery:
The guys at the Bangalore dealership didn't even check my identity or original bills before delivery... kinda negligent since almost all of us have posted about our booking in some forum or the other. The bike had 5 kms on the odo.
Powerparts not officially available yet in Bangalore, though u can have a look at them at the PBK showroom.
First Ride:
I filled regular 91 octane petrol. I got stuck in heavy evening traffic immediately. The engine got really really hot at one point and it stalled once while moving through heavy traffic.
But apart from that absolutely no hassles. This bike is a mean traffic slicer. Fantastic handling characteristics and the bonkers gearing will take some getting used to. I am getting decent FE of about 45-50 kmpl... so far did 89 kms on the odo. I already removed the sari guard and the tyre hugger.
Epilogue:
This bike is an orange crowd magnet, kinda makes me nervous while leaving it at the parking lot.

it seems d mix, BAL is taking cover behind budget as der is only 2% hike in excise duty in budget as against 3% hike made by them on Ex showroom price.Originally posted by Rajathslr View PostIs this hike as a result of budget or its the decision by BAL ?

The KTM showroom guy told me that using "speed" or "power" is definitely recommended. There is a possibility that regular unleaded may end up clogging the fuel injectors alot more.Originally posted by santhosh443 View PostYes manual recommends 91 RON and ktm site recommends RON 95

ummmm.... as per my limited knowledge, Fuel Injector can get choked if you are using inferior quality of fuel having particles in it not just that if you use good quality unleaded petrol.Originally posted by maxkatman View PostThe KTM showroom guy told me that using "speed" or "power" is definitely recommended. As per Custom Tariff Act Sec 3(1) & 3 (2) Basic Custom duty need to increased by the amount of Excise duty applicable if goods wer manufactured in India. This is known as Additional Duty.Originally posted by vishnukuttan1988 View Postexcise duty is for anything that is produced inside the country.
import duty or customs duty is for imported bikes..
Further the Same is also need to increased at a rate of sales tax prevailing in the state of import as per sec 3(5).
Here an Eg:
Ex - Factory Cost =100 + Basic Custom Duty@10% (Eg) =10
i.e. Cost Cum Custom Duty Price =110 +Additional Duty (Equi to Excise Rate on Cost cum Custom = 12%+3% Edu Cess) =13.60 + Edu cess @3% on Basic Custom & Addl Duty = 0.71
i.e. Cost Cum Addl Duty = 124.61 + Again Addl Duty (Equi to Sales Tax @12.5%) = 15.54
i.e. net landed cost = Rs. 139.85/-.
Hence Excise duty & Sales Tax is applicable in case of import of the goods also, This is to curtail the import and encourage desi goods.
