    Thanks.

I know the Pulsar is gonna be awesome too as they've taken quite a few cues from the KTM.
If the Duke had been from any other company than KTM I would've bought the Pulsar200NS too. But, I had dreamed of owning a KTM bike since I was a kid. The Pulsar is shaping up to be a very sweet deal indeed.
Enjoy your Pulsar (when you get it) and safe riding.

Today I got a call that problem is solved and they rode it for 50km and it was ok they asked for 150rs for petrol which I paid thinking that atleast problem is solved but again on my way back warning light came and bike started giving jerks and engine died and then I started it again then rpm and engine temp was not displayed. Now I am fed up of this KTM duke.
Ask them what they had tried to fix to get the console to work properly, and if its the ECU get it replaced under warranty, Also if you read the manual the way the console is behaving it may even just be a
faulty fuse in your fuse box. Don't leave them tell they have to get it fixed no matter what. You have a warranty with this bike so don't despair alderine.
Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Don't worry man your bike is in warranty. Just ask them to replace all that is faulty. its there fault and thats what warranty is for. i know its wasting a lot of your time (instead of saving it, by going fast) just hang on.

Someone put up a link on the KTM Duke 200 facebook page for crash bobbins.

Are they worth getting? Dis/Advantages? Alternatives?

On another note, I went to KTM Service, Kirti nagar, Delhi today. I saw 3 other Dukes there? Anyone from xBhp?
I also saw a P220 with the KTM color scheme, orange bodywork, black mudguard .

First of all, write an email to the concerned authority right away. Since your bike is under warranty, ask them to change it if they were unable to rectify it.
And now you have a proof that they were unable to rectify it, take your stand for getting faulty parts (probably ECU) replaced. This might turn out to be a proper case of customer "harassment" if they dont replaced it.
But i would like to add one point here. Yours case looks to be the very 1st case and the service people might be inexperienced in handling this bike as of now. So just hang on. Dont worry. Things will be good soon

              • Actually starting to ride the Duke after taking delivery this week. Totally agree with several messages from other new owners: it is a hoot to ride, very nimble and big fun.

Everything working well so far - except a silly "khat khat" noise from the chain while releasing the throttle, more so in 4th, 5th, 6th gear. Gone twice to service stn, got rubber fixed below and chain tightened ... but the noise comes back after some time. It is so irritating. Bike only done about 85km so far. And I know this is a nigling issue with a few other owners too.

I got my Duke on 15th March here in Vadodara and today I have completed 155km only. March is very busy month for me in my office but this weekend I think I would get some time to take my baby Duke out for a ride 100+ Km. Here are some pics of my duke...

                  Congrats bro... ride safe

                  • SHAHEED dats ma boy....

Finally here's my initial report and experiences
I booked my Duke "Shaheed" on 7th March at KTM Vashi full cash paid and was promised delivery within a month worst-case.
My bike was actually ready on 16th March, but thanx to a string of inauspicious days, had to delay my delivery..

                    Date:23rd March 2012
                    Reached showroom @ 1.45 pm.
The guys were really prompt and attended to me immediately
Checked all my papers, was given the demo.
Was done by 2.15pm. Then I asked Ajay Bhai to take off the mudguard and saree guard. He took utmost care not to scratch anypart while he was working on it. FINALLY, I got to ride the bike..3kms later 5Lit of XtraPremium and I was good to go. I took care not to go beyond 4k rpm in any gear.

                    Initial Report

No thuds on speed breakers or i pits near the console.
                    Silky smooth gear shifts..
Phenomenal FRONT brakes...didnt bother to check the REAR ones..will do it tonite..
My Dad was tailing me in our car, and his only report for me was that almost every bike in the opposite lane slowed down their bike to get a glimpse of mine.
35 mins later my ass was on fire, thanks to the hard seats..i am not used to it coz of my plush rx100 seats..
In traffics, my legs were being cooked..Engine heats up very fast in slow traffic plus hot summer afternoon.
                    Suspension is a bit stiff [ I weigh only 58kg ]
Ride position is spot on [ I am 5'11"] and my feet automatically find themselves on the gear and brake levers
I rode 75 kms till now my avg console mileage is 38kmpl although i suspect its faulty coz I am confident of my riding style.
                    Shall upload pics tomorrow..
I revved the engine only once to 9k rpm just to record it and send it to all my friends.
Looking forward to enjoy a great life with the DUKE of KDMC

Please give some baksheesh to guys like Ajay Bhai in your showrooms for taking utmost care of our Dukes

                    Cheers,
                    Happy Riding and Ride Safe

P.S. I request all my friends out there owning a Duke 200, pls dont name the bike a female name like guys give to R15s., RTRs and Pulsars, this bike is fully capable of humping the girls out there !!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess you could help us understand if we really need them or not, What happened when you fell from your KTM? did you have any damage to your front fork lowers or even the swing arm area? Or was the front Leg guard enough to save the bike? I guess they recommend the use of the crash bobbins if you ride the bike without a leg guard a la Europe KTM 125 DUKE

                      • My Experience with KTM Duke 10 days (200 Km)

Iam riding a bike after a gap of 18 years.

I got the bike on 16th March from Sreeram Motors, Mumbai. The delivery process was thorough. Since I was practcally a fresher (Jumping from a Yezdi directly to KTM ... missing all the pulders, apaches etc), found the same very useful.

Have ridden the bike for 50 km on each day of the weekend (Mixed City riding) averaging 30 kmph. My impressions

                        1. The bike is likely to be slightly uncomfortable for long legged creatures on long rides
                        2. On mixed riding find that the heat from engine carasses the legs (This could also be due to the fact that Iam yet to figure out the right angle for legs)
                        3. Pick-up excellent (Quick but not threatening the rider or pillion)
                        4. Once can ride in 30 km even in 5th and 6th gear.
                        5. Moving from 2 gear to neutral is easier as compared to moving to neutral from 1. (This ideally should not be an issue as we should any be moving to neutral in most cases from 2nd gear)
                        6. Display is useful
                        7. Balance of the bike if fine even with a pillion of around 65-70k in city riding. No dramatic change in managebility
                        8. Lots of enquiries at each signal regarding performance, price, delivery time etc

All in all the performance is better than expected even for aperson biking after a long gap.

Except the doubt regarding the suitability for a tall person, no complaints.

                        Things to check in future

                        Mileage - academic interest
If the chamber under the rider seat is sufficiently water proof during mumbai rains

Thats good. Shows commitment for customer satisfaction! Wait for their analysis. BTW, what exactly are the claiming is the problem? Or they didnt say anything?
