The process is - First chain cleaner spray - that takes the grime down - black sticky stuff drips down.

Next - Spray the chain with the lube which is NOT oil but Wet synthetic sprayable Grease. It better not be dripping all over the place/spraying on the swing arm/rims etc. A bit of spraying around is ok BUT - the Ideal thing would be to leave the bike for AT LEAST 30 minutes after the chain has been lubed with the wet grease - The BEST option would be to leave it on overnight (ahem Shreeda - remember the DIY session??)

It is oil.. before lubricating the chain, the SVC guys put oil in the chain to clean it or something.. That sprays around the rear alloy, and other stuff.

and chain lube is not oil..

Gosh!! I don't believe Oil is sprayed to clean the chain It is only a dirt magnet - Not only the existing dirt on the chain, it would invite dirt for the neighbors bikes as well :P

During delivery they used 'Motul' Chain lube for free and during the first service they used 'OKS' chain lube. Worst of all they charged me Rs.110 for chain lubing. It's been splashing all over the alloy and engine

+1. The longer you leave it idle, the better. And Shubz, nah not really because of DIY. I learned it the hard way! I bought Tribocor first and found out its worth, then bought 3M

Tribocor/OKS seem to be very less sticky compared to say, 3M or even Motul. So it easily sprays all over the wheel and swingarm. Hell, I even messed up my backpack with Tribocor

Not oil they use Kerosene to clean the chain first, then spray the lube .. thats what that ASC guy told me .. however, cleaning with Kerosene wasn't done properly, he just ran that cloth while rotating the rear wheel.

When I left it to be lubed at 500kms at the ASC, the guy got it done within 5 mins and to think back I was really impressed with his speed in getting it done.. however, it didn't spray this much then...

Kerosene was used to clean the Chain initially Shubz.

Good to know that am not the only one facing this issue .. some might find this sadistic, however I find solace in having company

I tried to click some photos to post out here.. however due to the flash the reflective rim stickers are too bright and the dark spots aren't visible. Atleast I found out that the rim stickers have a nice reflectiveness

                  • Rain ride

Had a proper rain ride today in Bangalore! The tire seems to pretty re-assuring even on wet surface I could brake confidently at good speeds. One just needs to be careful not to step on the rear bake lever

We were told Kerosene would screw up the O rings.

Right.. in fact many in the west like it that way.. to them it adds to the high performance looks of the bike. They regard it as a "badge" as it makes the bike look like it's getting ridden..!!

Actually I haven't seen any photo of the Duke's exhaust changing colors. But since the 200 Duke has primarily been made with the Overseas market in mind, that too for the younger riders, it could have been purposefully done (how difficult could it have been to powder coat the pipes with matt black like on our desi bikes..??)

Anyone has photos of the Duke's exhaust changing colors..??

There was one posted 2 pages back. And that one looks nothing like the one pictured.

Edit: And now it strikes me, I have seen such exhausts on RXs and Shoguns in the past!!!

Posting here for ease of analysis.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
