Does anyone in Mumbai know where I can find the Castrol Radicool Heacy duty coolant the manual recommends? Somehow its not available anywhere in Bandra West...I spoke to the service station too but they said they did not sell it loose and would have to book an appointment to top it up :-/Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Inder sir - low coolant level - is it lower than the Min mark?Originally posted by inder.cool View PostTill now I have faced a couple of issues, has anyone faced the same too:
1) low coolant level.
2) some noise from front or headlight assembly.
3) noise from chain/not lubricated.
4) noise from rear brake while braking.
2 - That is hereditary of Duke I guess. It is very evident when you run over a pot hole or cross a 10 inch wide road cutting. a noise that goes KHATT! near/under the console.
3 - That as you mentioned is on factory setting - you can get it tightened at the SVC center.
4 - Don't worry about it unless it is very weird and loud - it is the case of the pads bedding in.
Factory settingOriginally posted by rx100.7050 View PostLoose chain for new KTMs??? Can't able to digest. Any idea how it got loosened so soon?
But some have not reported the chain slapping against the swing arm or may not have noticed.

I finally found the castrol radicool coolant at Juhu Bandh road!!! but it wasn't the ready to mix but the concentrate so I'm gonna mix it 2 parts water 1 part coolant and top it up soon as my engine cools down
@Shubz the manual says that the coolant level to be maintained is just below the MAX mark and at the shoroom they say it should be in between MIN & MAX...its getting mighty confusing nowSpeed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Technically manual is right. Practically the service folks are right.Originally posted by joshzma225 View Post

please do top it up till the level is just below the MAX mark and let us know if you see any spillage/leakage. Would be helpful for everybody.

My answers is red and bold.Originally posted by Shubz View PostInder sir - low coolant level - is it lower than the Min mark?
Its on the "MIN" mark..

Ya I kinda realized that, as many were posting here about that noise.
3 - That as you mentioned is on factory setting - you can get it tightened at the SVC center.
Oh ok..will see if that can be tightened..did you also get it tightened?
4 - Don't worry about it unless it is very weird and loud - it is the case of the pads bedding in.
No its not loud till now, but will get it checked. If the pads are worn out then will tell them to replace it
This may also be one of the noises from the rear, since I was suspecting the chain to be loose so I kinda overlooked this.Originally posted by Shubz View PostFactory setting

Great..so you were able to do itOriginally posted by Redliner View PostThanks Inder

My friend just got his DUKE today and asked them to top up the coolant to just below the MAX mark but he said they put some VEEDOL Coolant?!?! I thought only Castrol RADICOOL was recommended? I hope they not putting some cheap one and then expecting us to buy the expensive one on the first service %-)
@Shubz
I have since topped up with the Castrol RADICOOL Concentrate and mixed it 2 parts coolant and 1 part aqua guard water (as good as distilled no minerals etc) ...was gonna use bisleri water but it had minerals added!!!
Topped up a little too much its at the MAX maybe even more but was overflowing as I noticed some on the radiator cover and the side of my tank..will get it flushed out and a fresh coolant put in tomorrow if they take me that is :-DLast edited by joshzma225; 03-10-2012, 02:44 AM.Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

As long as you are happy and there is no leakage/spillage - You should rock! \m/
I am more than happy with the level a few mm above the MIN. I haven't seen the level go down. I haven't seen the engine over heat. Radiator fan runs at regular intervals and dissipates the heat away. So - My thighs get fried at regular intervals
I have regular tete-e-tete with the service technicians at PBK service which is a stones throw away from where I live. So if you need any info in a flash - do let me know.
