Well it takes some time to get used to the gear box, especially you are not too used to bikes, that could be the reason. But, be gentle with gear shifts, if at any point of time, you feel the gear is stuck, don't kick it hard.. just slightly release the clutch, re-engage it and then try, it always works.

Thanks Payeng. Though it doesn't have a knob, it still alerts us on the display when it goes into reserve. Apparently its 1.5L when the display lights up!

[QUOTE=Straight to auto-service after the formalities & prayers to get the paint protection film on the tank & front fender also got the chain adjusted.[/QUOTE]

Sams, When you say auto-service, you mean the KTM service centre, or is it the name of a stickering shop? I've been looking all over for exactly what you've mentioned here. Also how long did it take before they were done with it? Thanks.

Auto service is a service center(for bajaj/Ninja/KTM) in Bangalore. Check the above link provided devil_rider, the first on the list in Bangalore.

                Hi All

Finally got the Duke home yesterday. Simply awesome feeling!!! Most first impressions tally with what's been going around on this thread - unbelieveable power, stupendous braking, excellent handling, excessive HEAT........ Attention grabber on the streets, it sure is!!

                Will keep posted about impressions as the days roll by; first day riding was about 20km;

Planning to do a quick Mysore and back on Sunday morn.....Any dukers game??

It is a protection layer a thin but strong sheet of transparent sticker covering the area where the tank pad goes only difference being it covers more surface than a tank-pad will. Didn't like how a tank pad will reduce the orange on the tank so went for 3M PPF

Edit: IIRC there is CBR owner who has put a pic of the same in the ownership thread.

                  • Guys,

Can we all list out the accessories removed or added from duke 200 which might be usefull for all duke owners

                    added:

                    1) some thing like teflon coating, protection film ...

                    removed:

                    1) tire hugging mudguard.
                    2) engine protection.
                    3) sare guard ...

I can vouch for this place. This is owned by Venkat Shyam ( Those who had 1st gen Pulsars will know him.. ).
I have been servicing my Avenger for 6 years there. No complaints, good mechanics and very friendly staff.

I suspect it could be an overflow, there is no manifold leak. The coolant tank shows level above the max level. Will wait for a workshop trip..

Since the time you posted these pics I noticed it had happened to me too and My coolant level is at just about 2mm above the MIN marker its no longer in between MIN & MAX so its getting over somehow and that too in just 2 days??? Did you get someone to check on that? And can we just replace the coolant by taking off the cap and refilling? or do we need to do a drain of the coolant?
Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Do you see where it is dripping from? I have not been able to locate it. Havent ridden the bike since the spill. Didn't go out today yet as its holi. As someone mentioned the level should be a few mm above minimum so yours should perhaps stop leaking. If it does not then there might be a problem. Yes you can top up coolant by just opening the cap and adding some more. Just make sure the bike isn't hot when you do it and also keep your hands clear of it as coolant is poisonous.

i think the most important thing is that you are not overheating the bike if you take it straight for a longer trip. means you should have a 10 minutes break after every half hour or so to cool the engine down. the timer on the console helps in this case.

today more time so this is what i followed, after checking the net and seeing what other riders have posted:
                                • warm engine up properly (indication is given on the console)
                                • after that, do some short bursts to 7500 rpm (i actually did some above, following the motoman advice)
                                • change gears and vary rpm most of the time
                                • use full rpm band in all gears
                                • engage all gears properly
                                • take a short break after every 25-30 minutes to allow the engine to cool down
                                • be aware that it takes 200 kms for new tyres to break in
                                • be aware that brakes take around 200-300 kms to bed in too
