@rjswaroop: Sorry u may have to wait slightly longer. As i said, my booking on 11th Feb is yet to be allotted a bike. From the details in the forums, i find the allotment time averages around 28 days. So assume you also would have to be patient for some more time.Originally posted by Navaroj View Post

That's normal the squeaking sound I mean...but yes miss a gear and it just revs up like crazy and then god forbid the gear should slot into place!!! It would be nasty to ram into something like that!!!Originally posted by Shubz View PostOn the riding experience - There is a new find which by now has already been discussed here and Deb bro - I feel sorry for the mishap! Hope both you and Duke recover soon!
If you are light footed when changing gears - it tends to slot between gears - the gear display on the console disappears - and if you are not careful - you could end up revving it hard in the pseudo-neutral position!
Odo reading - around 250 kms now.
2nd: While reversing the bike on a slope - while controlling the descent using front brake - on slight release - there is a whistling/squeaking sound.
Both are not alarming situations though.
For the 1st - make sure one is sure footed while changing gears/ feel the click (and glance the console to be double sure). Do not rev too hard immediately after changing gears!
For the 2nd - i think its the brake pads which are still breaking in.
I will anyway visit Auto service (behind my house) tomorrow to have this checked.
P.S Shubz could you just inquire what the cost of the RHS Engine cover and then Swing Arm Assembly would be? with bushing etc. Just want to know what the Damages would be if I had to pay for it (in an Alternate Universe)Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Gear slotting is in Riders control. May be we all should get used to slotting it firmly. Right now we are all babying the Duke so are pretty nimble handed and footed.Originally posted by joshzma225 View PostThat's normal the squeaking sound I mean...but yes miss a gear and it just revs up like crazy and then god forbid the gear should slot into place!!! Regarding your second point - There is no Alternate Universe! It is under warranty/insurance. You will not have to shell anything from your pocket. The only thing you may have to shell out is - Time!
Wait for the parts. Nevertheless will check on it tomorrow and update you.
Question for you guys: Has anyone filled a tank-full of fuel? I did yesterday - and I noticed I could smell petrol (strongly) each time I was close to the bike (after parking, going to my desk and returning after an hour or so) I could smell it until this afternoon and not after that - as the fuel level would've decreased by now.Last edited by Shubz; 03-07-2012, 09:59 PM.

Booked my baby duke on 24th of feb @ chennai and it's been around 2weeks :S
Being "the most frequent" visitor of xbhp and passing by pbk centre almost everyday on a crowded bus in the midst of the dense traffic roads of "singaara" chennai drives me crazy...
I used to convince people to be patient after booking their bikes (such as RE) but now??? Aww man I would be happy to know at least a tentative delivery date ...
Anyone who booked baby duke @same week as me?... At chennai ... Feb24 booking ... Aaaarghhhh I m frustratedThanks for ur reply guysOriginally posted by rohitoasis View Post@rjswaroop: Sorry u may have to wait slightly longer. as a matter of fact the friend i ride with daily has a cbr250, so i know xactly what you mean, and NO its not like the cbr.... power is available waaaayyy down... in fact, when i 1st saw the gear indicator on the duke, i thought "ok, cool thing, but not really required"... but then i noticed that i was riding in 3rd and 4th gears at speeds as low as25-30kmph and the bike wasnt knocking at all, so the gear indicator finally did show its utility!!Originally posted by chinmayakar View PostThanks dude for answering that. If you have ridden CBR250 you will understand what I am trying to say. CBR250 isnt that powerful below 4000 rpm and also has that typical knocking sound. Is it the same with KTM or does the power flow right from the beginning.

Yes is realise that it is under warranty et all but I just wanted to know what it costs coz if and when its replaced I'll be happy to know the expenditure incurred by this dealer to replace it ;-) ...please do let me know about the price and availability as well that way if they say its not available in Mumbai I can tell them to get it from Bangalore :-DOriginally posted by Shubz View PostGear slotting is in Riders control. Yes I filled 7.50L of Power the day i got it and there was a full tank of reserve when i got the KTM and I too had that petrol smell but I never questioned it till you mentioned it here...Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Bangalore will be the last to get anything! Mumbai being a stones throw away from Pune - I will be surprised if the parts are found in Bangalore and not in Mumbai!

I am running on a temp regn. For I am waiting for a particular number to be allotted. At least here in Karnataka - I think you can run your vehicle on a temp regn for 30-45 days. and anything beyond that, you will have to pay a fee of 250 per month or so.Originally posted by ASSASSIN07 View PostPosted it in some other thread also. But the PBK guy who has a pulsar 220 is running on a temp regn for a few months now.
As long as it is registered, cops should not find an issue. You cannot run an un-registered vehicle on the roads - that is against the law of the country.

Hmm.. thnx. I am creating a fuss about it because its March & its the sales stint for Cops. They will challan anything & everything if they could. Pune's Traffic police is again very strict.Originally posted by Shubz View PostI am running on a temp regn. For I am waiting for a particular number to be allotted. Is this sort of behavior true for all bikes, not just dukes?Originally posted by Shubz View PostFor the 1st - make sure one is sure footed while changing gears/ feel the click (and glance the console to be double sure). Do not rev too hard immediately after changing gears!
When this happens on my bike, I hear the gear lever click and then rev. When the engine revs but the bike is unresponsive, then only do I realize that the gear hasn't engaged. I mean when downshifting from 6th at 40-50 kmph, I can hardly be looking at the console!
And with the Duke, how would go from 0-60 kmph in 3.xx seconds if one doesn't rev hard during shifts?

Well... There is no written 'source' for this info, but it's just a unwritten-but-accepted rule.Originally posted by ASSASSIN07 View PostThanks Rahul. But do you have any source for this info?
But still for your query, I found this on RTO site...
Source: Motor Vehicles Department ( R.T.O.) , Maharashtra- Temporary registration is valid for the period of 7 days initially and extended up to not exceeding 30 days incase of non transport vehicles .This validity is extended for some more period with the permission of registering authority in case of transport vehicles.

i think the most important thing is that you are not overheating the bike if you take it straight for a longer trip. means you should have a 10 minutes break after every half hour or so to cool the engine down. the timer on the console helps in this case.Originally posted by pratikm87 View PostI have kind of same query ? .... Any one up for answering this ? please
