In general, which bikes generate more heat for rider, liquid cooled ones or air cooled ones, faired ones or unfaired ones? which bikes are most comfortable ones and most uncomfortable ones due to heat? I understand it depends on individual bikes and design choices like underbelly, or underseat or conventional exhaust etc, but generally is duke or monster more comfortable than karizma or ninja 650r?

Out of a 200 CC Oiled cooled (Oil being cooled by air) & Liquid Cooled, liquid cooled will be more efficient.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View PostIn general, which bikes generate more heat for rider, liquid cooled ones or air cooled ones, faired ones or unfaired ones? which bikes are most comfortable ones and most uncomfortable ones due to heat? A fully faired may get heated up more quickly than a semi/naked one."HASTA LA VICTORIA, SIEMPRE !" - Chesigpic

What is difference b/w oil cooled and liquid cooled one? Also is'nt both oil and liquid cooled by air falling on radiator?Originally posted by rx100.7050 View PostOut of a 200 CC Oiled cooled (Oil being cooled by air) & Liquid Cooled, liquid cooled will be more efficient.

You are asking OT question since this is KTM thread. But since, KTM is liquid cooled, I should answer this.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View PostWhat is difference b/w oil cooled and liquid cooled one? Also is'nt both oil and liquid cooled by air falling on radiator?

My 200 is ooil cooled. So the engine oil is pumped through a maze of pipe & gets cooled by the air flow hitting the pipes.
In liquid cooled, the engine is surrounded by a jacket of coolant (liquid) which is pumped through a maze of pipes & again air flow hitting the pipe cools it.
Place a bowl having butter directly onto the gas & place a large pan containing water & then the bowl having butter placed inside the pan onto the gas. Which will boil? Got it?"HASTA LA VICTORIA, SIEMPRE !" - Chesigpic

cool. got it. so basically all oil cooled machines are what we generally call air cooled.Originally posted by rx100.7050 View PostYou are asking OT question since this is KTM thread. But since, KTM is liquid cooled, I should answer this.

Bro.. don't worry.. no1 is going to void your warranty for using motul..Originally posted by hunkofgals View Posteven i wanted to get a radiator guard but its quite expensive

U can just buy motul 7100 FS or 300V (or any compatible 1) and ask the SVC guys to put that in your bike..
Here in Mumbai, because of the demand for Motul, the SVC guys will be getting oil from Motul.. So any1 willing to put motul can do it at the svc itself.

And i'll let u know if i find a decent radiator guard at a good price.
EDIT: PS: If you are going to use Motul Full Synthetic then I'd advice u to use that after the second service i.e. 5000kms later.. (Read a post, posted by Mountain.. it must be 5-10 pages back.. good explanation there)Last edited by devil_rider; 05-07-2012, 04:10 PM.The best alarm clock is sunshine on chrome.

See using a semi synthetic or full synthetic is completely your choice. It's just that full synthetic oil is always better.Originally posted by hunkofgals View Posthow much will 7100 or 3000 V costs per bottle?

Motul 7100 20W50 FS will cost you around 750 bucks for 1L can. You'll have to buy two as Duke requires 1.4L of oil.
300V 15W50 is a bit pricey as it is a special quality of oil designed for racing/performance motorcycles. The best alarm clock is sunshine on chrome.

hi all,
Been enjoying the duke.touched hundred till now at 7.5 -8k rpm in 6th gear.no radiator spill for me as of now because it was filled just abt 1.5 cm above min mark.exhaust is showing discoloration but nothing like rust.just the coating is coming out.
few questions----
1.On teambhp, i found this rear grabrail rack.may look ugly but its very practical for me.if anybody or the person who posted it in tbhp knows about the cost and availability of the part,it would be highly helpful for "practical" dukers.
2.The bikes front number plate looks ugly and spoils the front look of the bike.i have found two bolts below headlight and distance between them is 8.5cm.Anybody has any idea which vehicles numberplate holder would fit?Motorcycling heals, big time...

The same person posted this mod on KTM India owners group on facebook. He say she spent Rs1000 no this mod, the rear part he said was from a Yamaha Fazer I think.. To me personally this looks very hideous. I am unsure of the practical aspect of this.
No number plate would fit directly as the bolts are located above the place where the number plate would sit. you would require custom clamps to hold the number plates. I am on the look out for these as well.

Sprockets
First to say I'm not Duke owner yet, but I will be soon.
I was reading the xBhp's Duke review at
The Complete xBhp Review : KTM 200 Baby Duke Mega Review
I did quite a lot of reading and reviews and have read that the top speed is limited at 138 km/h in 6th gear. I don't know myself but in the reviews they say it is easy to hit that speed and that there's still some juice left.
Amongst different photos in that review I saw the photo of two sprockets:
http://www.xbhp.com/autopictorials/d...gesprocket.jpg

I'm GUESSING the bike uses the smaller sprocket (lower top speed and higher pick up), and if you count the number of teeth on those photos and divide them to get the ratio, and then multiply that with 138 km/h (where the rev limiter kicks in in 6th gear) then you'll get the km/h where the rev limiter would kick in in 6th gear with that sprocket, IF (BIG IF) the bike would be able to reach that speed with the taller sprocket.
It comes to around 160 km/h.
Now, this is all just guessing and some assumptions, and I admit that I could make a mistake somewhere in the calculation (please correct me if I'm wrong, no problems), but if this is right and if the additional sprocket is available then the Duke could potentially have much higher top speed on highways, if someone needs that more than the strong pick up.
I personally definitely don't need more than 138 km/h so I'll stick with the stock sprocket, but I just couldn't help to think about it all when I saw the photo of those sprockets...

and regarding the numberplate holder, i am also searching for some clamp.karizmas clamp was off by abt 1 cm now i am gonna try the new passion pro clamp which i feel would be a direct fit.Motorcycling heals, big time...
