I am no expert on bikes. It was just my thought. Of course the seals could have had some manufacturing defect.

Also add this pls. If the Fork Inner tube is Scortched (Anything like a hairline scratch) that is just about it, be ready to invest in plenty of Fork Oil seals that will start leaking as soon as it's been replaced or change the fork inner tube.

How do i know?: I'm facing this in my Gladi's fork & have planned to replace the inner tube.

How did you get that hairline scratch? I mean, to scratch a metallic part like the fork tube, takes a lot more than loose stones getting stuck, right?
A bad accident will do that type of damage

I'm still wondering in-spite of my fork inner tubes being new. Guess, freshly laid Tarmac gravel... I'm still in the dark about that, but Spot on it's only because of that my Fork Oil seals do not last.

            • Help with duke PDI

              Hi Guys,

had posted many queries few pages back. The one's I really wanted the answers were left unanswered. Not to be perturbed, here are a few more:

              1) I have finally decided on the duke.Have not made the payment, but the PBK vashi told me bike would be delivered in 1 or 2 days Actually had almost, even before I asked those questions here, but just wanted to make an informed decision.
It's be great if the owners could give me duke specific exhaustive PDI list. I searched through(not exhaustively) the thread but could not locate the page(am sure it's somewhere here). Or please give me the link to the appropriate page.

2)Any particualr suggestions on the insurance and RTO formalities(I am planning to get it registered in Vashi, Navi Mumbai) like extended warranties or additional cover.

3)I am planning to get it registered on someone else's name(I recently shifted to a new rented residence and did not quite have all the required paperwork and can't wait anymore. Will there be any surprises in future? what kind of hassles or inconvenient situations can I encounter in the future.

Guys please help me with prompt replies.

now, this is really a new discovery!! Never ever happened this thing to my 220 or my ex RX. Rubber seal getting damaged due to this is acceptable but fork tube getting harline scratch & resulting in leak is very new thing, can't digest this actually.

Register in someone else's name sounds a bad idea unless that someone is from your family/ closest friend.

PDI list is almost same as that of any other bike.

When hearing if you can't digest, think of me replacing my fork with 5 seals till date for the past two months or so & nothing lasted. As soon i changed an inner tube from my used RX, everything stayed in it's place just fine.

Ok... let me dig a bit deeper... are you sure that was a hairline scratch or you are diluting the impact?

                      • I got my Duke today!

Made the full payment today and I was given an option to choose from a lot of 19 bikes.

CBR 250R would have been a logical choice for me, as my most important usage would be touring and I'm 6 feet plus. but test rode both the bikes back to back and went with KTM.

Rode it for about 35kms after delivery - mostly in traffic. Loved the handling and seating position. And the manic character of the bike.

The engine heat seemed too much at times though. Will have to run it in properly. My previous bike was a Joel'd 220 fi. Illumination provided by the Duke's headlight surprised me! I'm very happy with the purchase.

Some quick snaps. Glad to be a fellow duke owner!
