THanks a lot sub-zero. The khat khat sound was indeed coming from the toolkit. It was not firmly secured and was about to slide off the underside of the seat. The rubber bands have to be changed I guess.Originally posted by sub-zero View PostFrom the front or the back?
In my case it turned out to be the toolkit under the back seat. Tightened things up by wrapping it tightly and making sure it was firmly attached to the underside of the seat cover.
Also the seat coming off by itself does not seem feasible. Once properly attached, it fixes in a pretty solid manner. Though I have found water inside the seat after rains or washing on more than one occasion, but that must be from the tiny gap left even after properly attaching it.
And yeah I too don't think the seat would come off that easily.I must not have secured it properly.
hmm, You might have a point. That sensor should be checked at the svc next time I visit to confirm your theory. The diagnostic tool must have a provision for that.Originally posted by sonu611 View PostI have had this problem many times too. I think i got it figured.
There is a sensor on the clutch lever. If the bike is not in neutral, this sensor is used to make sure that clutch is pulled in and bike can be started safely.
The bike will be definitely in some gear after a stall. I think this sensor is not working properly all the time, so on pressing start, ecu thinks bike is in gear and clutch is not pulled in, hence it does not start.
The solution is put the bike in neutral and start. I am not 100% sure this is the issue though. But putting in neutral and starting has always worked for me when the bike refused to start in gear with clutch pulled in.
The below link is about similar problem on a duke 690.

No not fast at all, relatively at least. At most 80-90 before I had to stop at the signal. I anyway find it difficult to hit past 125 these daysOriginally posted by devil_rider View Post
Were you going fast (125+)? This is happening with some bikes including mine. You have to switch off the key and start again to start the bike again.
Addition: BTW I just saw a post on FB page where a fellow Duker has posted a pic where console is showing an average of 96 KM/L :O :O
. Probably not shifting gears at proper rpms.
And that 96KM/L reading is of A_n_i's duke during his solo Leh trip I guess. Check out the travelogue's section. The pictures are pure wallpaper stuff. The place has come alive in those pics yaar. Awesome. Many Bengali's I know have this hobby of photography. What's with Bengalis and photography? and Ilish maachh ?and communism? and monkey caps
It's bigger surely.Lot bigger. I have normally an FZ parked next to my duke in society parking and the duke seat is surely bigger. But do keep in mind that the fx seat is not really a true split seat. The pillion has that leeway to slide freely into the drivers seat which is not the case with duke.Originally posted by Rohan200ns View Posthow big is the duke's rear seat when compared to fz ?
old fz is known to have one of the smallest rear seat but none of my mates complained when i was having fz .. in pictures it looks like the duke's rear seat is slightly bigger than fz.. not looking for comfort here ... want to know your thoughts on thisThe hero always RIDES into the sunset!

To the Delhi Dukers, where did you pick up your Duke from? I'm thinking of picking it up from either Bagga Link, Karol Bagh or the Connaught Place showroom. Any comments/feedback/suggestion?
Especially regarding which showroom might have the latest batch of Dukes? I'd asked last time that how can I identify whether the Duke I'm picking up is a recent batch or relatively older batch but no one responded to my query. Anyone know the answer to that please do let me know. Cheers!Delhi Dukers on Facebook

Those pics are really good.. I have to ask that chap at what speed was he riding to get that kind of mammothic average on a 25bhp motorcycle..

but i dont remember anybody sliding down at the back white riding .. then i guess duke has a bigger and better rear seat than my previous fz ... wednesday is going to be the most important day to me in picking up the right bike..Originally posted by Doga View PostIt's bigger surely.Lot bigger. for me its like choosing between audi r8 and lamborghini gallardo .. r8 ( ns ) is a more practical and sober supercar but lambo ( duke ) is more desirable & all out supercar .. same engine with little tweaks ...

I think that when we are going downhill with throttle closed and in higher gears, with only engine braking controlling speed, we should get these mammothic average figures as at that time the throttle is closed which means ECU would calculate the average taking throttle position into consideration. Seniors and other members can shed some more light on this.Originally posted by devil_rider View PostI have to ask that chap at what speed was he riding to get that kind of mammothic average on a 25bhp motorcycle..

Bhai. You cannot be farther from the truth. 'Didi' is more communist than the CPI.think about it.Originally posted by Shibadip View PostYa sure the pics are great.

You should rather go for the 200NS than the duke. The 200NS being the 'peoples bike' and the duke being more costly+exclusive the capitalist's bike. 200NS would be left untouched but your duke would be burned if you take it out out on one of those very frequent 'Bangla Bandhs'

that was hilarious
@shibadip: BCU and ECU are different... BCU in the pulsars control the total electicals of the bike...not the engine...carbed engines are manual.. Whereas ECU controls tie engine and the ENGINE'S OWN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM and dont control the other electricals... Yes the 200ns being a carbed engine still have a ecu but it has nothing to do with fuelling...fuelling is still manual...the ecu only controls the firing of the 3 spark plugs...

Going by your thoughts, 200NS certainly seems a no-no since if I go with 200NS, it will be a red one.Originally posted by Doga View PostBhai. You cannot be farther from the truth. 'Didi' is more communist than the CPI.think about it.

(unless the yellow looks super-delicious)
while very recently i saw some one posted a new colour variant of duke in White and Green. Guess, it can give mw a free pass during the bandhs...

@rohan200ns - I did made up my mind for 200NS, however reading the post here, THE NECK-JERKING ACCELERATION of duke, which EVERY1 has talked about, has certainly caught my attention.
So when 200NS will launch, then will test-ride both, and then decide.
having said that; my as on date preference: 200NS : Duke200=>90:10Last edited by Shibadip; 07-14-2012, 03:49 PM.sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

right now i am 80% inclined towards duke .. that rocket kind of thrust acceleration is not present in any other bike ..not even in ninja 250 as its power comes at higher revs..i am sure that a test ride of duke will blow your mind .. suddenly cbr250 feels slow after riding duke...Originally posted by Shibadip View Post@rohan200ns - I did made up my mind for 200NS, however reading the post here, THE NECK-JERKING ACCELERATION of duke, which EVERY1 has talked about, has certainly caught my attention.
