Star City is a simple commuter bike. Even in the 4th gear sometimes you feel like the engine is stressed and i really miss a 5th gear .And i like p135 its a good bike haven't ridden it though but i like how it looks. 58kmpl is not bad actually with a pillion considering its a 135!

Thanks bro! and congrats on your 200NS Sexy bike it is! I did the first service at 656km. Now its 1168km Have to wait till 2500 for the second service. One thing I've noticed the engine oil is low i mean the stick shows half, between the top and low position. So i'll have to go top up it before the 2nd service!

yeah, keep the oil level always above minimum mark. And on more thing tvs is using 10w30 grade oil which gets burned/evaporated when climate is hot.
Btw, nice bike it is (a very reliable one) and I'd say one of the best bike for a leaner.
One thing I would like to share that a friend of mine got 2009 star city as a prize from lottery and he never looked after it. Ripping & reving from the day one. 1st oil change was done after 2k kms. Never serviced it in his ownership period of 1.5 yrs. Got min mileage of 50s and maximum of 70s.
He sold it out to another friend of his. And the bike is still ok, not awesome but ok which is definitely a good thing for such badly abused bike.

Oh really? It evaporates? Wow thanks for that info. I've noticed it its near to the minimum mark now! Thanks for the info and i'm getting it filled tomorrow, so as you said it evaporates when its hot then i'll have to keep topping it up every 500kms right? Yes its a very reliable bike!

Hmm okay buddy. Yeah, keep the oil level in between max and min.
@Honda CBF, that info is new to me too... never heard that. Thank you.

yup. It does evaporate. Because its thinner than what needed. A given grade of oil works best in a given range of temperature.
                See this chart https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-x...4/DSC03129.JPG
that's why some of use different oils, different from recommendations.

Ah finally! Happy that i'm about to meet another star city owner. Do notify when you purchase and yes! You're absolutely correct: "People choose wrong brands for wrong reasons" I'd like to admit that I'm 'Zero' when it comes to biking but still I'm a commerce student and i study economics so i really know what's going on with these so called premium/Foreign motorcycle brands: Like Honda,Suzuki,Yamaha, etc..
First of all there are a lot of people out there, these companies mentioned above happily call them 'consumers', we buy bikes with different things in mind. For 'Aam Aadmi'/'Student' Like me and lakhs of other commuters first look at the money before buying the bike, then they go for mileage. Trust me they don't wanna know a thing about how this bike handles or how riding at this rpm affects your speed or the vibrations you feel past this speed and stuff like that. Simple things like "oh riding in 50/below 50 gives more mileage, half clutch riding is harmful, right tire pressure gives right mileage" and whenever they are about to race to reach that speed of the guy who just passed them in an R15 they/I think one liter petrol cost Rs 70.51 (Cochin)
My mum's about to get a scooter probably next month so as usual knowing how good TVS is we went and asked about the Wego, But curiosity lead us to other brand showrooms Went to Honda and that guy there said a lot of things but one thing i noticed 'We're the number 1 bike brand in India' (Hello! Ever heard of the famous JV Hero Honda). We asked our neighbor about the service Honda gave since they had a scooter, thankfully that guy politely said a big NO to Honda as i expected. Their service here is so bad that its a shame for the famous world wide brand Honda. and I see 1000's of threads here in xbhp complaining about Honda service
Now coming to Suzuki. I first noticed their brand name in TVS bikes. I thought they were one and later came to know that they make some great motorcycles- GSX 1000 R 'wow' revolutionized street racing, But here in India we don't need all that, we don't need adjustable suspensions, Fuel Injection systems, Liquid cooling engines, we need some thing to carry us, someone else, vegetables rations, fish, meat and even cooking gas cylinders
I again have to say how bad are the quality of services they deliver. I have ridden Suzuki Access Have to say its is a beauty, comfy scooter available in the market.
Now Yamaha.. I don' know what to say. I'm in love with that new R15. But what's confusing is how people treat these vehicles. I had a friend back at college who owns an R15 he pretends its an R1 and i don't know he has spend almost 1lakh on painting it stuffing it with some computer thingy wow. 1lakh for the 'aam aadmi' we'd have painted our house with that sort of money. I've another friend who has an R15 his first bike, hate to say this but he has spend almost 3lakhs coz of crashing it i don't know how many times. I know money is for spending. I'm not complaining here, I'm not jealous
The things is when you are an 'aam aadmi' remember to do more investigation on how these Motorcycle brands offer services and other important factors rather than looking at their Moto Gp Race Positions, Coz out there on Indian Roads our money matters and more than that our Life matters. Nothing's worth our life.
PS: All the views mentioned above are from my point of view. I am sorry if I've hurt anyone's feelings. and all the experiences i mentioned above are true. Very True!

you have described a very valid point. There are people who can be influenced by marketing hype, words of friends, family etc. But there are also people around who make their decisions based on solid facts.

Glad to hear that you feel the same! What i said about Yamaha is stupid. Realized right after posting it. But i'd like to point out Service is our right! There's no point in the existence of these companies if they can't provide the right service.

^ Well, the thing is there's no bad or good company, the very basic problem is with dealers & service guys to whom we customers are dependent on services and things. They only focus on 'number of bikes serviced/repaired' and not the quality of service/job.
And only way to get satisfactory job done is by having a good rapport at svc.
If one's not able to get good service then best a customer can do is contact and complaint to the manufacturer.. And bajaj & yamaha are always eager to take action unlike Honda (it took 2 emails and few months time for me to have my bike's swing-arm changed) can't say much about other companies..

Exactly! Honda is the worst regarding services. Even i have seen people here yelling at the TVS SC guys i don't know why. But i always respect them and ask politely All these companies really have to come down and sort this out!

                                Update about my Vehicle:
1685km in the Odo Next free service is on 2500kms. I've been riding it a bit rough these days! as I've never taken it beyond 70. But it effortlessly goes from 40 to 70. which is really needed for a commuter bike but after that the bike looks like its out of breath. But a twist of throttle can easily make it go beyond 80.
