Hi bhpians i need some help regarding my bike thunderbird 500
Im new to this forum(or any forum ,i should say) so kindly xcuse any silly mistake

I recently brought my tbts 500 cc (stone black),(my first bike)from pondy 2 weeks ago.i couldnt do the pdi checks prior to delivery,bt after delivery i do the checks (whatever i hv in mind or i know) everything seems ok expect for one or two issues which i sorted out .

Bt from the second day onwards the speedometer(odometer) stops working.it was working fine before, bt after riding some 120 km it stops. I went to nearby enfield service center in jakkur road, yelahanka(i live near H M Halli) they told me that the speedo cable is u/s &that they hv to replace it ,bt they dont hv the spare part right nw. Nw after 12 days and 2 visits to the service center they still dont hv it,on both ocassions they said it will be available within 3-4 days .i hv shown the bike to a mechanic in M S pallya also ,he said the same thing that the cable is to be replaced ,he also told me that the sensor is ok bt the problem is in upperpart ,in between instrument cluster and the connection( i dont know how right he is,bt he dont have the spare part also). Is there any service center, shop where i can get the spare part quickly or get it done?
I hv been riding my bike occassionly now ,cause everytime i saw the instrument console,my heart cries
Jst a silly question hw can i keep the speed under 50 by watching just rpm meter?

And since im new to royal enfield bikes ,i have some questions

1.Is a paint protection job required for stone black colour?is it effective ? Whats the cost?Has anybody done it in bangalore?

2.Is the vibration normal for a new bike?i have been felling vibrations ,not severe, but mild even in low speed.

3.Everytime i change gears i heard noise (like the one heard in old bullets) Is it normal?

4. I read in the pdi checklist regarding battery warranty .Is there any separate document for it ? Beacuse i havent got any

5.The headlamp focus is not in the center but slightly to the left side .should i get it done by local mechanic or wait for free service?

6. Lastly which is the best(or atleast good)service center in banglore where i can get my bike serviced.

And since im new to royal enfield bikes. Any other tips, thoughts regarding thunderbird would be very grateful

J.Ravi sir - Haven't seen any updates from you recently on your bluebird. How is the bike behaving and any new issues?

I have a booking for TB350 but cant get over the torque of the TB500. Issues reported by several users related to Fuel pump and other parts has prompted me to stay patient and not decide in a hurry. Though a TB500 was offered to me by a dealership, I have not been able to make up my mind. Also, on the thought process is going for a carburetor based Bullet 500 to avoid the problems associated with the TB, though I don't like its looks that much. More positive feedback on TB500 from riders would have made it easy for me, but see majority of the posts highlighting only issues. Frustrated totally.

My Blue Bird is in hibernation again as I am separated from it by 350 km from the past one month. The good news is that we will be reunited shortly!

How is the bike behaving and any new issues?
Although the Blue Bird is undergoing its nest-arrest, it is hale and hearty and self-starts easily; absolutely no issues. You can consider Thunderbird 500 favourably, V1V8K.

Don't worry so much about people complaining about their bikes. Do keep in mind that more than 90% of bike owners will never visit online forums, blogs and Facebook pages unless they are facing problems. Other than a few forums like this one where people publish ownership reports, nobody else goes online to say that "My new bike is running fine. No problems to report".

I own a TB500 (purchased in Oct 2014) and have owned several other bikes and cars in the past. On the whole, I feel that the TB500 is not more troublesome than any others. Yes, there have been minor problems (air inlet pipe broken, minor difficult in starting etc.) all of which were fixed within 30 min at the authorized service station without any charge (in fact it took much longer to create the job sheet and make the computer entries than to fix the issue!). However, no vehicle I've owned ever came without it's share of early niggles. I've previously owned a 1st gen AVL TB350 and the difference in quality between that and my TB500 is night and day.

The TB500 is a great bike, no question about it. You will get a powerful engine, the most comfortable riding posture and a grin on your face every time you start it up. The only downsides are that it's a tad overpriced and the mileage in the city is nothing great.

The vibrations on the bike are quite noticeable until the first and second service are done. It's quite normal for REs. The noise (the 'klunk' sound especially moving from neutral to first) is also normal and reduces after a couple of services.

4. I read in the pdi checklist regarding battery warranty .Is there any separate document for it ? Beacuse i havent got any
The battery is covered under the bike's warranty and the dealer does not provide a separate warranty card for it.

5.The headlamp focus is not in the center but slightly to the left side .should i get it done by local mechanic or wait for free service?
I'm not sure about this, but if the headlight is off focus laterally (left/right) it's better to have it done by the authorized service center. You don't need to wait for the free service. Stuff like this is covered in the warranty.
