Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Route customization is possible by inserting via points manually by selecting the points on the map by touch-screen or by search location option or by selecting the points of interest.Originally posted by thunderRider View Post
The present version is 9.1. I have been using the maps from version 5.0. It will guide you properly 95% of the times. Be prepared for some surprises during the remaining 5%!how good/updated are the maps?
It can be charged from the wall-charger or 12 V car/motorcycle charger or power bank.Where does it pull its power from?
I have been using Google Maps on my laptop for planning a trip and compare with MapMyIndia online maps and my navigator. Even Google Maps throw surprise like MapMyIndia sometimes. But, I have not used my smart phone for navigation.how is it better over a smartphone with GPS and Google maps?---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a layman it is better to settle with the phone. Mines a Mi3 gets reception instantly and coupled with HERE maps offline it is awesome and precise to the last nudge and light years ahead in convenience with respect to my Garmin nuvi 55LM, BUT! since I cross states often, at times my mobile gps becomes completely useless, without a proper network the phone is as useless as it can get, and takes a hell lot of time to route inspite of maps being offline. Thats where the Garmin comes to the rescue, takes a lot of time to lock, but once set it is just awesome and since its already pre fed with the routes and locations it makes things better off. And not to mention other features like choosing an alternate route etc.Originally posted by thunderRider View Posthow is it better over a smartphone with GPS and Google maps?Motorcycling Experience:

hmmm.. this would require some serious thought before committing myself.. :\
i have a n00b question about GPS since i have never worked with GPS. my mobile does not have GPS, only AGPS, which uses mobile data to give a rough location estimate. with high speed 3G it works strictly okay, but is frequently inaccurate.
Does proper GPS navigation work with mobile data[3G/2G] or just mobile signal??

Also, is there a dedicated thread/sub forum for such discussions?? this thread is going off topic. :P
Mods please move this to proper thread if possible. Thanks!!Ride: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Marine >> KTM Duke 390 2017

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Hi guys just got my blue tb500 on 6th march and had been following up on this thread for the last 2 month since my booking. I am from bengaluru and the vehicle was bought from SSS motors in tumkur road .
Had 1 doubt though , as per my understanding there is supposed to be a plate beneath the pillion seat , which i find missing in my bike . The pillion seat is a bit loose and can be moved about slightly. When i asked the service guy during delivery, he said that he would adjust it during first service. If possible can any one of you upload an image after removing pillion seat so that i can compare. Thank you in advance.
Ravi sir you have been a true inspiration
