Instead of a permanent solution I'd advice a temporary one, like mseal to jam the thread. It can be removed if need arises.Originally posted by White Knight View PostNop, if you see the bottom end of the gaurd, it keeps moving since its on a nut and a bolt. Weld that part.

I use the exact same model on my tbts and I never had a problem of it moving aroundOriginally posted by J.Ravi View PostSure, V1V8K.
The diamond crash guard is suitable for Classics. For Thunderbirds, I prefer the Thunderbird-specific one as it will not hinder the movement of right or left foot for brake or gear operations.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Guys, Please do not give your bikes for service @ Teknik Motors Indiranagar. My bike developed tuning issues post 1st service. They set the idling at 2k RPM and made adjustments to clutch which resulted in jerky gear shifting. I was not even sure if the oil was changed. The bike was taking atleast 3 attempts to start in the morning.
For my second service, I went to Mehboob garage @ Nandidurga road. Now all problems are solved. For peace of mind, I got the oil changed. The bike is smooth. I was advised to do a general checkup once a month. Chain inspection and lubrication, oil top up and overall checkup of the bike.
Now the beast is back, smooth and powerful.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Proud owner of a TB500 now. Bike was delivered to me on Friday night and the delivery experience was not good as the registration process was not completed. I had clearly told them to deliver the bike after registration as I was in no hurry. Also, I had to wait about two hours for the delivery of the bike. The showroom folks had no clue where the bike was at. One said it had gone for registration and would be back soon but the registrations guy said that he needed more signatures from me to start the registration process. Finally, they called their service center and asked their folks to ready the bike for delivery. It was almost dark when the bike was finally delivered and I was in a hurry to get back home as I had other matters to attend to. Next day morning I noticed a small hole in the seat almost at the bottom and a slight bend in the rim. Immediately took some pics and mailed the showroom folks. Their sales manager is on vacation and no promise of action as yet.
Thank you. Took the bike to JC road and got the one recommended by you fixed. Cost me INR700. Same brand and same guard was quoted INR1600 in the showroom.Originally posted by J.Ravi View PostSure, @V1V8K.

Also bought a sturdy cover to protect the bike, a chain cleaner, lubricant and a disc break cleaner as well while at JC road.
Where can I find this locktite product? Most of the shops where I inquired, had no clue what this was.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostBetter, why not just use locktite or any other thread locking compound?Ride: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 Lightning

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
When a TVS Scooty Streak - costing less than the half the cost of Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 - can have a stock OE 12 V charger, it's an unpardonable sin committed by Royal Enfield in not providing that in a premium cruiser Thunderbird 500.
At last, Blue Bird gets a 12V/5V charger costing ₹652.24 from AliExpress including shipping. I ordered it on 29 Dec 2014 and received it within 2 weeks. Today morning, I rode on Blue Bird to Taj, the electrician at Pudupet. Blue Bird was the second in queue. When its turn came, I explained my requirements to Taj: one, it should be easily removable by me without disturbing the fuse-carrier and wiring, and two, the circuit should be through the ignition switch, so that the charger will work only when the ignition is switched on. Taj went on his motorcycle and came back with a plastic adopter. He introduced this additional adopter with necessary wiring to the base of the charger and connected the supplied wires through the fuse-carrier to the mains coming out from the battery. He did not use the connectors that were supplied, saying if they were directly connected to the battery, there was a possibility that some mechanics might forget to connect them during subsequent servicing! Nice idea. All the wires were neatly inserted inside sleeves and used ties to securely tie them wherever necessary. I took my digital voltmeter with me. He checked the battery's condition through the charger, first with my voltmeter, and then, with his analog voltmeter. The voltages were 12.x V when the ignition switch was on before starting the engine and 14.x V when the engine was revved to about 3 k rpm in both the voltmeters. I paid ₹ 150 to Taj, all inclusive, and thanked him for his excellent work.
Half-day, well-spent. Now, I can carry, charge and use my navigator, phone and camera during my mega rides.

J.Ravi. Your new setup looks quite good. If my memory serves me right, you previously had a solar based charger on your bluebird. Has that been removed now and did you face any issues with it? One of my friends who has a desert storm is also looking for a similar setup but is not aware of any electricians/mechanics who can do a good job with the installation.
Appreciate inputs from fellow forum members on a good electrician who can help with similar setup in Bangalore.Ride: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 Lightning

Thanks, V1V8K. I have the solar power-bank now also. But, it is portable and not fixed on my Blue Bird. I usually keep the solar power bank on the top of tank bag.Originally posted by V1V8K View Postyou previously had a solar based charger on your bluebird. The main disadvantage I faced is, after the power is exhausted, I cannot recharge it in the night, when riding. Now, with this 12V/5V charger, I can use 2 gadgets - mostly, my navigator and phone - without worrying about recharge.
The solar power bank will now act like a stand-by UPS!

Does it provide route customisation? And how good/updated are the maps?
Where does it pull its power from?
how is it better over a smartphone with GPS and Google maps?Ride: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Marine >> KTM Duke 390 2017
