Hi there,Originally posted by Sharrrrrrad View PostMatte attracts scratches like no other. I got plenty of them on my tank. Also, the sides of the tank has become glossy because of gripping at speeds. I choose to ignore, it's too much pressure to maintain matte texture/color
That glass cleaner idea is new. Will try it. Thanks.
Yes it does attract so many scratches. Until we learn to ignore it gives us lot of stress.
I'm using 3M Auto specialty Glass cleaner. Please do share your results too.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Thinking about changing the rear view mirrors on my tb500, options are
1. Classic's round shape chrome
2. Avenger's rectangular chrome
3. Even considering putting one round and one square ! Too weird?
What other interesting options you guys can think of or any inputs on my thoughts?

Re: Royal Enfield quality issues- Thunderbird 500
Yes the bike comes with 2 yrs warranty. The delivery guys in ASCO motors told me that I shouldn't be worried about the rust.Originally posted by rugved View PostIs your bike under warranty?
Did you point these to ASC?
My point is that I paid in full so I must get 100% value of my money.
Anyway I have also tweeted the pics to Siddharth Lal. Let's see how he responds (or not
).
In case anyone of you is on twitter, request you to check my tweet (@yashupadhyay) and retweet.

you have all the pics and you have involved SidLal. So need to wait for their action.
In the meantime you can pour a few drops of engine oil (leaving out electricals) on all the rust spots to suppress/slow down the corrosion. Additionally you can try cleaning the rust off (But then that will also probably take away the paint/chroming off) but then the bike's in warranty so let them see to it.

Re: Royal Enfield quality issues- Thunderbird 500
First point you can do is verify the VIN number and verify year and month of manufacturing. It should be given in the manual how to decode.Originally posted by chilleezz View PostYes the bike comes with 2 yrs warranty. From your mention of ASCO motors, I understand you are from Delhi. Thankfully I don't see rust on any body panels or frame, so should be easier to rectify.

I got a call from ASCO last night. The guys said that anti rust and proper cleaning is done before the bike is delivered as part of dealer's PDI but in my case it wasnt done.
He has assured me to get the bike cleaned, replace all rusted nuts and bolts and he is also going to give a 3M anti-rust coating package for free.
Let's see what he has to offer when I meet him face to face.

RE Thunderbird 500 petrol leakage
Since the last few days, my RE Thunderbird 500 leaks a lot of petrol from the fuel hose when I start it in the morning. After some time of riding, the issue disappears and there is no problem during the day. If the bike is left idle for a long time, then the problem recurs. If the bike is ridden in that condition, then the fuel leakage completely stops in around 100 metres while riding.
The mechanics did the following fixes but none so far resolved the issue:
1) Tightened the clamp.
2) Added a mechanism to increase the outer diameter of the hose so that the clamp holds better.
3) Cut a part of the hose pipe and then tie it with a metal wire and then the clamp.
None of the above fixes could solve the problem. I have a feeling that the actual issue is different and that might be related to the fuel pump. Does any of you have a similar problem and have found the solution?
I know people who have converted their RE 500s with EFI to carb. But I am not very inclined to that as EFI is better when working. However, for RE it is a big problem.
