Clearly the top plate is missing. Ask the dealer to open and show another new Thunderbird 500 to confirm that Royal Enfield dropped that plate in the new model. Here is mine:

Update on my bike. Covered 400 odd kms till date and due for the first service soon. Front seat had a small hole during delivery time and was replaced under warranty with another brand new seat. Hearing some squeaking sound from the front shock absorbers which needs to be addressed during the first service.

Also, on the classic 500 as well the TB500, a tinny/whistling kind of noise creeps in post 250-300 kms of initial ride. Appears to be coming from the silencer and is a very irritating kind of noise. During first service of the CL500, the service technician mentioned that this is common to all RE bikes and it was not fixed. Heard similar noise on few other RE's at my office parking as well. The noise shows up primarily during decelerating and sounds as if some screw is loose inside the silencer and is causing a whistling noise. Anyone else faced this and has a remedy?

            Hi Anand,

I checked with the lead mechanic as my TB had a loose rear seat when I took delivery. One of the mechanics initially said it was missing and informed the spare parts manager to order it. When I went after a week, another mechanic confirmed that there was no plate in the new models. He just tightened some bolts and now the rear seat is secure.

I have that noise. Checked the front wheel play. The disc is touching the brake slightly and the front wheel does not spin freely. I showed it to the monkeys in Technic, they said drop the bike for two days, they will disassemble and rectify it. I didnt trust them, however the guy at Mehboob garage made some changes to the front brake play. Now the sound comes and goes. I have got used to it. I have a whistling sound added to the tick tick sound.

Regarding the whistling sound , need a bit more info about it .
I think even my bike has that . It starts when i accelerate from a complete stop and disappeares after 30sec or on deceleration. It is more common when i ride solo than with a pillion .
During start stops in signals it appears like a siren from my bike from an old fire engine . Most people give way for the sound , when even i wonder from where the sound appears from. It started after the fitment of my crash guard and side box about a week back. Its an mtb crash guard similar to what rsvi sir has and thd side box is from studds . If you have a similar setup maybe it can be from the accessories

Just booked my TBTS 500 in Marine share from Sai Ram at ORR, Mahadevpura, BLR. I have been there multiple times, but todays experience wasn't particularly great. The first sales guy I bump into and ask for a test bike, replies with a smug look on his face that there are no test rides. No reason or explanations give, just a blunt No. When asked why, thinks for a min and says owner said no test ride. Irritated went to the Bellandur showroom and they let me drive each and every model available there. I wanted to finalize between the CL500 and the TB500, though I have tested both many times earlier still wanted one final check before the booking. I really wanted to buy from the Bellandur guys but instead rode back to Sai Ram since that was the closest dealership to home. But this time around went to another saleswomen, Mala. She was good at what she was doing and had pretty decent knowledge of the tech specs as well.

Finally, after all the apprehensions booked a TB500 for myself and a Desert Storm for my friend. Waiting period is 3 and 5 months respectively. The on road cost of the bikes have skyrocketed in the recent past, the TB500 now costs 2.05Lacs and the DS500 costs 1.93Lacs! Pretty expensive for locally made bikes, hopefully I have a trouble free ownership experience. Having owned 2 Bullets in the past I am sure that isnt going to happen though

So the wait and excitement starts, this is the first time I have booked a vehicle that has a Waiting period feeling very impatient

After first service, the experience with my bike has been bad. The rear seat in my bike too doesn't seem too secure as there is a bit of play.

Also, facing the same issue with my bike front wheel as well. There is a scrubbing noise during rides maybe due to the disc touching the brake pads. Surprisingly this is not consistent but occurs 90% of the time. Tried cleaning the disc brakes to make sure this is not due to dirt but the sound persists. Not sure if brake bleeding needs to be done.
This is very irritating and also the tappet noise had seemingly increased. I am planning to try other RE service centers to see if they can fix these issues.

Any noise apart from the hum of the engine is pretty irritating. Add to all this, the fuel pump is also not very quiet and even it makes its presence felt.
