[QUOTE=usman_imazz;938317]First congrats bro!!! And I recommend you not to fully stick to that limit!! Give it some short bursts. And dnt ride in 6th gear at 4k rpm. You are lugging the engine. Please refer manual on run-in procedure, I dont think this is the correct procedure for such an advanced engine. Please refer the manual asapOriginally posted by arnavsameer View Post

[QUOTE=siddharthsure;938330]+1 To that. Don't baby it too much. After about 100km start opening her up, touch higher rpms and cut of the throttle and let the engine brake to lower rpms, and remember to vary the rpms. That is very important for the piston rings to seat properly to the cylinder wall.Originally posted by usman_imazz View Post

Finally took delivery of my and probably the 1st white Ninja in Mumbai (well atleast in xbhp
).
Warning: Long post ahead
FLASHBACK:
June 2012:- I decided to buy the 2012 Ninja 250 as my old and faithful 2005 Karizma started showing her age. Enquired at the KTM East showroom and was told that there was a waiting period of 3 months indicating that I would get the bike latest by late September or early October. Quizzed the owners on the 250 Ownership thread on whether I should go and book the 250 or wait for the 2013 model. The response I received was that I could book her right away as the only upgrade that Kawasaki would do would be some minor visual upgrades like decals, etc.
Two things kept me from booking the 250 back then:
1) The fact that if I wait for 3 more months, I would get delivery in 2013 thereby saving a year’s depreciation, and
2) Intuition. Something just kept telling me to wait for the 2013 model because it would be different
August 2012:- The 2013 Ninja 250 was launched with upgrades that we are all familiar with. Boy was I glad I waited. Called the KTM East guys again and was told to book the existing 250 as the 2013 model would not be launched before April (and they were damn right). I still decided to wait and go for the new model.
I was now waiting for the 2013 250 to be launched in India when rumors of the 300 started coming out. I was like, “I’ll believe it when I see it” and in September (or October can’t remember exactly) BANG the 300 was announced. Although completely floored, I was under the impression that India would only see the 250 with 300 being kept specifically for EU and US.
Early 2013:- It became apparent that India would be getting the 300 and since I had saved enough I decided to book her as soon as she was announced. Landed on the KTM East showroom mid March enquiring about the 300 and ended up giving my contact details. Got a call on March 29 saying that the bookings had started. Went there the next day with the booking amount and was informed that I was the 8th person to have booked the bike there. Now I was (im)patiently waiting for the call which would confirm the bike allocation. In the mean time the bike was displayed in the showrooms, launched on 10th April and initial reviews started coming up.
Finally got the call on 12th April and rushed to make the final payment on the 13th. Now the REAL wait started. I have no clue how much I must have pestered Shekar (Hats off to the guy. Really patient and helpful fellow) and was finally told that my bike would be delivered latest by Wednesday.
TODAY, APRIL 23, 2013:
Just before leaving for work I felt like calling them again to enquire the status. To my surprise I was told that the number had arrived and they were waiting for the papers from the RTO which should come by early evening. I immediately asked my dad if he could come to the showroom in the evening and when he agreed, I took my dad’s Honda Aviator to work. I can only wonder what people must have thought on seeing a fully geared up guy on an Aviator that (IMO) redlines at 60 kph
…
Waited the entire day for their call and a special thanks to Nikunj (Arsenic) who, was not only as enthusiastic as me but also had the patience to endure a paranoid/desperate guy like me. Finally got the call at around 5 and told them I would be there soon. Quickly informed dad and Nikunj and reached the showroom soon after.
Voila! There she was all ready and waiting for me. My first impression was that it was glittering/sparkling! The white paint is top notch and boy was I glad I stuck to white (looks are subjective, I know). Fit and finish was as good but could see areas where the welding seemed to have been done in a hurry. The saree guard just has to go and will most probably come off during the 1st servicing. Saw mud on the front foot peg and enquired if anyone sat on it, to which the showroom guys denied. On pointing out the mud they sheepishly got it cleaned quickly.
Saw another white 300 and a 650 with TC numbers. On enquiring I was told that the 650 was booked long back the bike was just delivered recently. Soon after, my dad and Nikunj joined me in inspecting (I was probably drooling over
) the bike. Shekar displayed all the functionalities and gave some pointers like:
1) Only premium petrol (91 octane or higher)
2) Headlights can be adjusted as required at the workshop
3) To lock the petrol tank lid, close it, press down and then turn the key (it won’t turn automatically)
4) Keep revs at 4K for first 800 kms and 6K till 1600 kms.
5) First servicing at 1000 kmsand then at every 6000 kms
6) Oil (and filter) change on first servicing and then oil change after every 6000 kms.
7) In the morning, start the bike and let it idle for 2 minutes wherein the tachometer should rest at 1K. I found this weird as the bike is fuel injected so was under the impression that she didn't require a warm up!
8) To lube the chain every 1000 kms. No need to clean it, just lube it (weird) as regular lubing will ensure cleaning is not required for longer periods.
Nikunj spotted one flaw, where, in the right front fairing (just below the handle bar) a piece of the fairing was jutting over another instead of being neatly tucked inside it (pics will elaborate it). Got it fixed immediately and sat down with Shekar to get all the paper work done. Bid adieu to Nikunj who had to leave for work, bought a cover for Ninja for Rs. 1022 (from KTM themselves) and checked the bikes chassis number with that mentioned on the papers. Took pictures and got the bike out of the showroom. I told dad that I would meet him at home and swung my leg over her for the first time.
Bid goodbye to dad and Shekar and started her. Sweet!!! After driving the Honda Aviator the entire day, the 300 felt BIG
. Clicked her to 1st and slowly released the clutch.
First Impressions:-- The first thing I noticed was that the clutch needs to be released a long way for the bike to move forward. Any excess twist on the throttle would mean the bike would want to leap ahead. I got this a few times while riding and will have to get used to it.
- There was absolutely no vibes and the bike was butter smooth. Though heavier that what I am used to (remember I drove an Aviator earlier that day) I had absolutely no problem navigating her through the potholed filled LBS road to reach the nearest petrol pump.
- The riding position is forward biased and yes I started feeling the pressure on my wrist. I planted my toes on the pegs and gripped the tank with my inner thigh so as to take the weight off my upper body. On doing this I immediately felt my right heel resting or touching the exhaust and each bump had my foot moving up and down at the heel (have to get used to this I think).
- By the way, get ready for attention folks for she is a magnet. Lord knows how many just kept on staring at her. Reached the petrol pump and got her filled up for 1100 bucks. As I was about to leave got the 1st question from one of the attendants who was far away asking kitney ka hai? I indicated 3.5 with my hands and drove off. Since I was in a mood to enjoy and learn my ride and mot to answer questions, I started stopping my bike away from other vehicles. But I did see a guy in a rick pointing at me to his lady friend and saying Ninja 300!!!
- Keeping her under 4K rpm really is a pain especially with ricks, 100cc bikes and even BEST buses wanting to race and cut me off. She has loads of power and she can pull from 3K rpm with a blast, which I used on a couple of occasions to move from 30 kph to 60 kph in the blink of an eye to avoid some BEST idiots
- Thanks, to the unlimited supply of traffic on the JVLR, I was mostly doing 1st and 2nd gears. Another thing I noticed was that I couldn’t feel the engine heat while I was standing still but the moment I was riding at 30 – 40 kph, I could feel the heat at my calves and sometimes at my thighs. Is this to be expected till the 1st servicing? To Usman/Anwar, did you guys feel the heat at any point?
Finally reached home at 9 and unfortunately the temple nearby closes earlier so couldn’t get the pooja done (will be getting it done tomorrow morning). Gave a quick spin to mom and dad draped the cover over her and came back home.
To sum up my first impression:- Am I happy? I am still grinning so that should answer the question.

- Is it worth the money I spent? I definitely think so.
- And really, I’m in love…
Going to get up early and take her for a spin before the world wakes up.
Pics to follow. Sorry for the limited number. It was already late and I was more interested in riding her…

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
Congratulations buddy! That's an amazing motorcycle you chose and yes, white looks stunning...I am now in a kind of dilemma - should I cancel the booking for the green and go for the white or stick to my initial choice!
You've nicely described your story and also the first impression of the motorcycle is pretty neat, good job there mate
Now I, along with many others here are waiting for a proper, detailed owners review of the Ninja...don't keep us waiting long
Enjoy your new ride mate, good times are finally rolling
Congratulations once again! Keep riding...cheers!
P.S: It was nice meeting you and your dad today
Regards,
Nikunj K

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
Dude, normal unleaded petrol itself is RON 91. Premium is RON 95 or RON 97. So you can fill it up with regular unleaded petrol too. By the way the bike looks cool and that 650 too. Is that the 2013 model? It looks way better than the previous models. I'm looking forward for further reviews. Congrats Arun. You must be burning the roads of Mumbai by now. Lucky to be in a metro where you have got the delivery so soon, unfortunately for us we have to wait for some time longer as even the press launch has not taken in our state till now ( Scheduled on 26th in Chandigarh) so hopefully its going to be another month before people like me can lay our hands on our dream machines.

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
Arun : First of all congos on the buy dude!!
Second, you don't have to leave the clutch lever a long way. The N300 has a GP style clutch operation. So, you just flick the clutch lever, in little more than quarter of the distance and that would engage the clutch. It has been specifically designed in this manner to assist quick clutch and gear operation.

^^^ Thanks. I was told that their first lot of 5 bikes has been sold. They have ordered a second lot and mine will be added to the same. The earliest they expect is 15 days and maximum of 45 days which they is a very remote possibility.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.
