Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
Sad to hear about your accident.Originally posted by arunrk85 View PostIt's been quite some time since I posted something and I do apologise to guys who are waiting for their machines. I know how I was during my waiting period. My only defense is the 13 + work hours I have been going through.
Met with a minor accident on the super smooth (read slippery) JVLR road at a speed of around 20 kph. Chawl boys racing and cutting dangerously forced me to break suddenly and caused me to slip. I had to use the front breaks as my legs were tucked on footpegs and didn't have enough time to use the rear break. Fell to my right and landed straight on my knee and I am thankful for the kneepads without which my knee would have taken the maximum impact. Absolutely no injury to my knee, but since my toes were on the footpegs, my calf got stuck beneath the silencer which inturn caused a burn on my calf. Minor scratches to the fairing, a burnt patch on my leg and a broken heart are the only reminders I have of the unfortunate incident. Any good wax options I can use to polish off the scratches?
I have completed around 650 kms till now and the rides are still as enjoyable as my first. Have taken her to 78 kph max and can feel the power waiting to be unleashed. 800 km mark and then the 1st servicing should be up soon. The second filling gave me a mileage of around 22 kpl taking the average to 25 kpl.
Getting a lot of stares and some idiots who jump in front to slow me down so that they can get a better view of the bike. One guy in a car almost squashed me between his car and the divider so that he could tell me that the headlights were on. I don't approve of murderers but at that moment I could empathize with some of them.
.
Planning on getting frame sliders this weekend after checking out the options with nikunj (arsenic). And if I am unable to remove the one deep scratch I have, use a decal on it.
Will try updating this thread on a regular basis. Hope the soon to be owners get their rides asap.
Cheers to all.

A lot has been said about the comfort level of the seats in the negative sence with respect to the Ninja 250, even to the extent of them being BUTT busters during long hauls. What is your experiance with the seats of the 300. Can they sustain the rider comfortably on long tours.747anwar
Will be servicing the bike Friday at Manglore

The seats are pretty hard and definitely not a good option to tour on. Just placing your hands on the seat will give you a pretty good idea of its firmness. The stiff suspension doesn't help either. I am going to check out if the suspension can be softened as there are no immediate plans for a long tour (involving twisties) plus see what options are available for softer or gel based seat covers.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View Postlike arna has mentioned above, I would like to know what is the comfort level of the seats in this bike. Owners, your inputs please.

I too was suspecting the same. However one can lay hand on a gel based seat insert which can be placed under the present seat cover. Though the imports through ebay and other sites would be way beyond 3K per seat plus shipping and duties. There is a firm in Lucknow which provides these gel sheets. Cost around 2K plus shipping and tax totalling around 2.3K per seat. Only thing is that one would have to catch hold of a local seat maker to insert the gel sheet. I don't personally see this as a bad option and am seriously thinking of getting this done ASAP on receiving my bike.Originally posted by arunrk85 View PostThe seats are pretty hard and definitely not a good option to tour on. Just a small google about gel seats and there comes a link from one of our mods on it. It is not preferred to have softer/sofa seats for long journeys as they tend to have adverse effects on your spine and bottoms. You sink in the seats, especially the gel ones and that tail bone has to bear it. I do agree that the seats shouldn't be rock hard like Mercedes AMG series but they should be hard enough. The softer the seats, the difficult it is to go on long journeys. Riding posture too has its own play in it.Originally posted by arunrk85 View PostThe seats are pretty hard and definitely not a good option to tour on. Personal experience is when I sit in my dad's MS800 with custom soft seats I can't withstand even a continuous drive of 70-100 kms and need a break. But when I travel in Mahindra Verito/Logan or even my Pulsar 150, I can continuously do more than 120 kms happily. (yes, I did use the examples of cars and sorry for that).Regards,

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

Well in that case I'll first see if softening the suspension helps.Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostJust a small google about gel seats and there comes a link from one of our mods on it. Good chances that my 1st servicing will be done tomorrow or the day after. Will keep everyone posted.
By any chance does anyone know of a store in Mumbai where I can get genuine Motul 15W50 oil?

Don't mess with the suspension, if u soften it u'll miss out on the bike's handling. You are better off installing a gel seatOriginally posted by arunrk85 View PostWell in that case I'll first see if softening the suspension helps.

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
Well as usual I was pestering my probiker dealership yesterday into giving me some date when I could expect the delivery of my 300. Came to know that the first lot of ready vehicles have been delivered in southern states. Up north the priority is low. Also Kawasaki/ Bajaj had some problem in their assembly line so they could not assemble the vehicles at the rate they were expected to. This glitch apparently has been sorted out or so it seems.

Yes you are right, softening the suspension is never a solution and it will not compensate for the hard piece of saddle as well. The best thing is to add a little padding on the seat.Originally posted by rylan View PostDon't mess with the suspension, if u soften it u'll miss out on the bike's handling.
