I wonder why the comparison has been done with CBR 500r , if at all a comparison had to be done then CBR 400r is the bike they should have taken. Seems kind of unfair.Originally posted by Arsenic View PostThis might interest you guys:

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
A few pointers on frame sliders.
As the name suggests, it's being bolted right onto the bikes frame.
The primary focus on the frame slider is to protect your frame and engine from getting chewed up from road abrasion (which happens in a high speed low side fall).
Frame sliders are effective in a high speed low side crash that normally happens in a track, the bike in this case slides down the tarmac and lays on it's side rather than slam on its side. In city riding, we come across a lot of undulations, potholes, and in India especially Bangalore we definitely got open man holes. At slow speeds coupled with the above, a fall means direct impact to the frame.
So please choose wisely while selecting frame sliders.
Get a slider if you are worried about low siding your bike and not if you worried about dropping your bike. I'd rather drop the bike with no frame sliders

Finally!!!
My bike went for registration today. It will take couple of more days to get the registration number so the earliest I can take the bike out is on Tuesday. Was also informed that the Vashi showroom is delivering 4 more Ninjas today. More are joining the tribe.

@ Nikunj: Bro, I'm sorry I couldn't come to Bachoo last Saturday. We'll try going next weekend once your back.
I got done with my first servicing today at the service centre in Ghatkopar. I had already called up Mr. Praveen on Thursday and booked a slot for 9:30 a.m. today. Reached there with 3L of Motul and got the servicing done in 3.5 hours by Mr. Alam.
There was no service check list that I could see. Got the protruding right fairing issue fixed, oil and oil filter changed, coolant level checked and refilled. The bike was washed thoroughly with pressurized water and then rubbed down with some shampoo. I had pointed out the scratches and requested for a teflon coating. What they did was use some solution and with a sand paper, rubbed the area which got most of the scratches off the fairing. Add a touch of teflon coating and polish and voila, one has to go and look at the intended area to notice the few remaining ones.
I let the saree guard on for now as I did not know how i would have carried it back with me...
Mine was the first bike that they serviced and the guys there requested if they could click some pictures. When I said yes, they all rushed with their cell phones to get a click. I was feeling like a
...
Breakdown of my service expenditure:
1) Oil Filter: Rs 507 (= 450.22 + 56.28 VAT)
2) Paid Service: Rs 825
3) One Time Teflon Coating: Rs 1000
4) Service Tax: Rs 228.5
NET COST: Rs 2560
5) Oil: Rs. 2955 (this is something I bought separately so don't know how much they'll charge if they use their oil, which is Motul 7100 10W40 FS)
GRAND TOTAL: Rs. 5515
BTW, while I was getting my bike serviced, another guy called Ralph came in with his green Ninja. He had taken delivery this Monday and had come for an oil change after 350 kms. As per him, the oil used at the time of delivery is not Motul and so he wanted to change that ASAP. Got the number of Popular Lubes, from him, which is based in Sewri and are the official dealers for Motul. I could have gotten the Motul 15W50 for 850 bucks as opposed to the 985 I paid at Vile Parle. Anyone who knows about this shop? We could go and buy in bulk so as to get cheaper rates....
Drove back a total of 17 Kms from the service centre to my home mostly on 2nd gear thanks to the traffic. Difference I noticed were:
1) Exhaust note sounded more bassy,
2) Bike seemed smoother (which I honestly thought was not possible
)
3) If the bike is in idle and you are not on it, then it is impossible to tell if the bike is running or not. It is that quiet!!!
4) Post the wash, teflon coat and polish, the bike was glittering under the sun.
Do let me know if you guys want to know of anything in particular that I can elaborate.
Cheers,

Hey arun good to know your 1st service went smoothly. I actually wanted to know if we can use Mobil 1 engine oil instead of motul. Do you have any idea about it? And which chain lube and chain clean did they use for the chain? completed around 510kms as of now. Hope to get my service done within the next two weeks. Lets all of us meet up for a ride over a weekend. what say people? Btw, completed a month of ownership today and still 500 odd kms :-)Originally posted by arunrk85 View PostTo Abhimanyu and Nikunj (Arsenic), CONGRATULATIONS!!! First of all congratulations on completing a month!!! Mine will be on the 23rd... I guess you can but just have a word with the SVC guys for more info. When I had called to make the appointment, Mr Praveen enquired if I had bought the Motul brand as it was recommended by Kawasaki. Plus when I went for the servicing Mr. Alam said that I should have got the 10W40 specification as the same was mentioned in the owner's manual. I had to convince him that it was ok to use 15W50 as it was used abroad as well. I don't think they used a chain clean and put on a chain lube only after I reminded them.Ride Fast, Ride Safe
