The best way is to ride it. Spread the ride across a couple of days, for the first 200kms ensure that the engine is not stressed and give proper breaks every hour, you should be fine.

Don't stay in the same RPM for more than few minutes. Take breaks for abut 10-15 minutes every hour and you'll be good to go. Highway's the best way to break in your engine. Also take it up to 8-9k occasionally but don't stay in that range for longer periods. Always vary the RPM.

You can easily ride it in one day... i broke in my bike on the highway too. I did an 800kms run in a single day when mine had like 8kms on the odo. No problems at all too. I didnt follow what most people do by not going over certain rpm and stuff like that. Trust me dude... don't worry about it. Besides its a 390! How the hell are you gonna ride it slow

Also check there no body scratches. Oil level and coolent level is ok. Oil should be filled till middle.

Ride it once and dont accept papers and pay till you check everything

Please also check if tire is not used so much just some dust...

Check kilometres ... it shouldnt be more 5 or 10. There should be some petro..in my case it was just 1.5 litre depends upin area how much they provide..

Make sure toolkit and medikit is there.

Ask for discount before paying [emoji2]

Try to start it..it should start in first try and should be in idle properly..no shut down.

they provide saree guard and mud guard by default but in my case they gave me hand guards too so ask for these accessories

Just make sure everything is good and you are happy..then only leave showroom.. dont rush..if not good then wait for another bike whenever available. Also search forum for how to check the manufacturering date of bike by checking engine number.. it should be 2015..i got of june 2015 and 99% you will get too..

After you get it make sure you ride 1000kms in 50 days or before.. this is must for good life of bike..please use it hard means dont run it on slower speed using higher gears.. dont change oil before 1000kms after 1000kms change it to synthetic oil.. to know which oil ask some seniors and search forum

These all tips are mine..it cant be perfect but this is what ihad in mind when i selected the bike.. i got these infos just by asking all sorts of forums

Good luck and please drive safe and wear safety gears

Guys in Bangalore, how's Mekhri Circle KTM's service? I bought the vehicle from there but wanted to know how the servicing is. Help would be appreciated.

Today I saw some grease had come out from the gearbox area, I think it had leaked after the oil change to 5100. It has become semi-solid so I think the leak happened during that time. Nothing to worry?

where did you spot this leak ? bottom, left, right of crankcase ?
if it's around the gear shift lever area, it could most probably be the excess chain lube that becomes a gooey mess.

I'm hearing a fairly loud "tak" noise when I'm shifting gears, both up and down shifts, most of the time and I can feel it too. It has done 520 km. Had changed the oil at 221 km.

Anybody know what might be the reason?

My short review of Duke 390.

Finally these week I was able ride it couple times. first ride was on Sunday 280km and today's ride was 140km. Total ODO is 620KM

In short I can say "this bike is WOW! Fantastic super piece of automobile engineering!" Period. Are you going to buy this bike!? I would just say Buy it!

Why? Ok here is the detail.

First of all I am not die hard biker.. I ride very occasionally. I ride slow because I fear lot. I have ride Pulsar, Karizma and Hero CBZ extreme. Karizma R was my main bike. Its good bike.. but when I ride on highways.. generally I need to go on 100km radius. These highways are full of cross winds and lots of traffic. With Karizma my average speed was always 60 to 70 and when I tried to overtake buses and trucks, There is high wind blast and I always fear that I will fall. I was not so confident when I overtake.

When I ride Duke, Wow man its so powerful. You can ride bindast. No fear. My average speed was 80 to 85.. overtaking buses and trucks.. not a problem at all.. I just dont think for a sec when I overtake.. Some questions people always ask about Duke.. Let me answer them.. they are my personal opinions what I felt so far.

[1] Its very safe bike for higher speed. Very stable bike. Tyres are great 9/10
[2] Cornering is great. I am very dumb guy and fear lot when I have to cornering but now no more.. Duke rocks here 10/10
[3] Some guys complain about seat but for me its not that bad.. Actually I like it more then my Karizma - R not sure why but well it never hurts me.. May be fun of riding make me forget everything 10/10
[4] Look? Well just just just superb. When I ride this bike! I am very special person in the city. Everybudy looks at me and asking me all the time! 15/10 marks
[5] Highways near my city is always full of cross winds as there are hardly any trees on sides of the road but I can say it still perform so well that I dont worry about it at all its lot lot better then my Karizma - R and Hero splendor 9/10
[6] You can ride it with Pillion not a problem but yes pillion has to lay on you if thats not a problem then this is perfect bike for you. Just if rear seat was little bigger then this will be perfect touring bike. 8/10
[7] Humm fuel tank could be bigger. For now its not giving much mileage for me. Havent checked it but I need to fill the fuel every 150-200kms. This is con who want to go for long touring but hey you can always find a petrol pump all the time and you can always carry a can if you wish! 8/10

If you guys have any questions let me know.. I will try to answer it

                          Regards

This will become smooth after second service if not first. However, the gear changes are really RPM dependent. When you change gear in the right RPM, it wont happen. But, yes the gear box is not very smooth as you'd expect. In essence, this is a high revving machine and you need to rev high to be in the right RPM. Unfortunately, I am rarely able to do that due to traffic around.

                              Hi
I am looking to buy a 390 this month. My major concern about this bike is touring ability and temperature rising issue only. I have already owned a 200 but didn't took for long drives as it was very short geared and also there is so much temperature rise. And sold it within 3 months before 3 years.

Well touring shouldnt be a problem if you are going alone.

About temperature.. I am still under 1000km mark..other owners say that it will decrease lot when I do first service. When you will go on highways you will not notice even once. It only hurts when you are in the city. But its lot improved then when you owned Duke 200.

This bike is awesome.. really secured bike and it will give you confidence when you are on high speed. For me its a steal deal. I dont like to drive my Wagonr car. It seems powerless to me after I started riding Duke 390.

If you got any doubts let me know I can try it on my bike and show you. Ask everybudy but decide your self only..what are your requirements?

                                > Do you need fast bike?
                                > Do you need good looking bike?
                                > You dont care about FE?
                                > Will you not carry all the things on the bike like enfields? Dont take pillion and any more luggage together..yes you can use saddle bags for that.

Ok then this bike is for you.

Duke has not so long length so keeping pillion only will use all space.

Let me know your requirements in detail so I can tell you if this bike is for you or not.

                                Cheers
