At ASC today they just adjusted the length of the tie rod and the play has reduced considerably now. Play is around 5mm, which is similar to the play I observed on brand new Dukes.Originally posted by Imam Jafer Ali View PostYeah that's the issue! Me too will ask svc to replace or fix.

Installed the Michelin Pilot Street rear tire today @ 10k kms. Metz had totally thinned out and had suffered a total of 4 punctures till now. I don't believe in the reliability of the Metzeler's anymore now so had to change. Thanks guys for the suggestion!
Also, changed the rear brake pads @ 10k kms. Btw Michelin's are a lot more comfortable than the Metzeler's. They offer a more comfortable, cushier ride. 😁😁 Some pics below-

Unhooking the old tire
Installing the new tire.😁

My old Metzeler's. I guess they can still do another 2-3k kms.

My punctures..😂

Removed the handguards for that pure, bare-bones naked look.[emoji16][emoji16]Last edited by jack_daniels; 04-22-2017, 03:06 PM.

Yes michelin is good one, just be cautious on wet road surface, it will fish tail more than metzs [emoji1]Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostInstalled the Michelin Pilot Street rear tire today @ 10k kms. Just came back from a 200km ride. The Michelin's seem to be pretty gud bet. Not bad at all. The grip is very gud!
Also, rode a lot on sandy patches and the bike doesn't fishtail like the Metzeler's used to do. It kips on moving in a straight line. I think it's better for off-roading. Moreover, my butt didn't hurt today like it used to do with the Metzeler's.[emoji106][emoji106] But, I haven't tested the tires in the wet till now. Will see how it behaves in the wet. Also, changed engine oil for the 4th time @ 10k kms with Motul 7100 10W50 instead of 20W50 used by SVC. Engine has become super smooth now. Exact words would be buttery-smooth.[emoji4][emoji4][emoji16]

Did you balance the wheel after fitting the new tire? If not, you most probably will encounter wobbles at speeds > 130Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostJust came back from a 200km ride. The Michelin's seem to be pretty gud bet. Not bad at all. The grip is very gud!

Haven't seen any wobble yet.
I think balancing not required.

I felt exactly the opposite. Did upto 155 kmph today following a Range Rover. I would say the feeling was exactly the same as with the Metzeler's with slight wobble above 150+ speeds. In fact, I think the bike has stabilised more compared to the Metz as the Michelin's have a higher contact patch with the ground. And as such the wobble has reduced compared to the Metz's. This is what I felt today..Originally posted by chip94 View PostDid you balance the wheel after fitting the new tire? If not, you most probably will encounter wobbles at speeds > 130
I think ur talking about the rim balancing. The rim already comes pre-balanced from factory. No further balancing required. U must have noticed some weight patches stickered at certain places of ur rear rim. Well they are there to balance the tires..
P.S.: Also, one thing I noticed today. Ppl look more towards u now after I've removed the Handguards. Received a lot of glances today compared to previous days. Maybe the bike looks cooler that way. Dunno!😍😍Last edited by jack_daniels; 04-24-2017, 12:31 AM.

Haha, Agree about removing the hand guards. Gives the bike a nice raw look.Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostI felt exactly the opposite. Did upto 155 kmph today following a Range Rover. I am indeed talking about the small weights placed on the rim which are used to balance the entire wheel when the tire is fit at the factory. Now, if you replace your tires with any other tire (Metz or Michelin) you have to rebalance the entire wheel which includes removing the old weights or adding new ones. This is true for cars too. If you're not noticing any significant wobble then its fine, but if you do notice anything weird with your handling, do get them checked. An unbalanced rear wheel is hard to diagnose because its rigidly held in place and doesn't do the steering work.Last edited by chip94; 04-24-2017, 01:22 AM.

See, just what I said. Glad that your problem is solved now. Make sure the pinch bolts are torqued to the right spec.Originally posted by Imam Jafer Ali View PostChanged this today, price 150rs and now precise!
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hi guys, need some advise.
My Duke 390 is close to 29k kms on the odo.
During last service at 27k on the odo, service technician pointed out that the drained engine oil was too low.
There was a long gap between the previous service, thought it was common and didn't take it seriously.
Post this service, I've ridden 2k kms and low oil pressure indicator is constantly lit in the console.
Engine oil level was below the min mark, so I bought a can of Motul 7100 and did a 400ml top up.
What could be the possible issue and fix?
I don't want to end up with a seized engine, since this is my primary mode of commute.sigpic

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
First check if there is any oil leak anywhere. If not and still the engine is using 400ml oil in 2k kms,you better be ready for engine overhaul sooner rather than later.
Highly strung engines like the 390 are unforgiving with lackadaisical engine oil care.Dad's Bajaj Super-1983-1989
