Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Thank you so much for all the points you mentioned. I got it for 75k with transfer included hence didn't hesitate and yes i will restore her to brand new state hence the questions. When i took a test though the bike was giving hickups in hard acceleration and i was told that the bike was not ridden for sometime hence the hiccups. Any clue what that could be or is it a known issue on the 390? Additionally they have mentioned that last month the bike faced repairs of around 28k and they will share all the repair history tomorrow.Originally posted by s1d View PostThe engine mil light that lights up does not always mean a fault with FI.. it could be any other thing as well. So get it diagnosed using their scan tool to find what is causing it.
the blue taping is all normal i guess (not related to any wiring mods). but as vj pointed out, you definitely need to get the engine mount replaced (The Y thingy).. it doesn't cost much.
The fuel pump itself costs around 5k.
Parts on the 390 are pretty economical when you compare it say something like an r15 or a cbr.
another thing you can check is to drain both the oil and coolant and inspect them.. if oil looks milky/greyish white or you see traces of oil in coolant (which should normally appear green), then you might be in for more expensive repairs.
And remember to change all fluids.. oil, coolant, brake fluids when you pick up the bike.
if you are getting it dirt cheap (80k?)and are comfortable fixing it up, then its a good deal.. 15k would more than suffice to fix it up if the engine is in good shape.. i.e. no oil consumption/smoke and has good compression.

Will do so brother thanks for the inputs.Originally posted by Wilson4willy View PostCheckout if air-filter box is having any crack or not. I would suggest you to get the radiator fan replaced too as your D390 is from first generation so its having open type radiator fan(no fan cover) which throws hot air directly to the legs and believe me its really hot, even the pillion feels discomfortable because of the same.

and the bike looks like it has gathered dust/lack of proper cleaning. a good wash and polish should bring back some shine to it.
get all the filters (air fuel and oil) replaced and the throttle body cleaned.. If that doesn't sort out the hiccups, then run an FI cleaner additive like liqui moly in the fuel, it might clean up a clogged injector.
Or if you know a place that cleans injectors (check with a local car service garage, they maybe able to point to a shop that clean injectors) get the injector cleaned by removing it.
And finally if this doesn't fix yer issue, it might a problem with the fuel pump itself, or gunk in the petrol tank.. Clean out the tank also before you decide to replace pump.
These guys are supposed to have a pressure gauge to test the fi pump pressure.. but very few bother to do it or don't have the equipment.

Yes all filters and oil change, radiator fan, paid service, engine mount, any rough idea howmuch should this cost. Add to that replacement of coolant and engine oil, brake fluid top up. Probably both brake pads too.Originally posted by s1d View Postdefinitely a good deal.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
the entire filter kit costs around 475rs (air filter around 275rs, oil around 100rs and fuel 75rs..).Originally posted by hypergamer View PostYes all filters and oil change, radiator fan, paid service, engine mount, any rough idea howmuch should this cost. Paid service 800-1000rs (labor charge)
Engine oil: 1.6 liters (Rs.1400 approx) - better you buy motul 7100 outside since you can easily save 100-200rs because shops outside give discounts on oil.
Coolant: Around 250 for a litre of motul inugel expert.
Brake pads: Both front and rear together will not cost more than Rs.500 (yep that cheap!)
Brake fluid.. again not very expensive. they have small bottles (probably 100ml) and depends on how many bottles you go thru (you know bleeding it completely and filling it up.) And make sure you inspect the calipers (maybe a wash is diesel) and grease the rear caliper (i.e. grease the caliper pin, so that it doesn't get stuck later on.. very few ppl do this and one fine day could end up with a sticky rear brake)
why are you replacing the fan ? iirc the radiator fan costs around Rs.1500.

Awesome will get it serviced today. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
He is replacing the radiator fan because his Duke is of 2013 model so its not having radiator fan shroud. So replacing the same with the newer model fan will save his legs from getting grilled 😂😂😂Originally posted by s1d View Postthe entire filter kit costs around 475rs (air filter around 275rs, oil around 100rs and fuel 75rs..).

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
alright so I got the bike and heres what happenedOriginally posted by Wilson4willy View PostMy bad, I did not watched the pics wich you earlier posted.

Do update us after getting your ride serviced.
paid svc done
both brake pads cleaned
tank cleaned
oil replaced
brake oil replaced
coolant replaced
rear sprocket ball bearing and rubber replaced
air filter fuel filter oil filter replaced
clutch cable replaced
Now the major problems
fuel pump is dead and needs to be replaced because of which the bike performs worse than a duke 200 probably this is the reason the pump malfunction light always blinks
have ordered the fuel pump and will replace it soon
Biggest problem with the bike
the ABS light always stays on even when the bike is in motion. Which ideally means abs has malfunctioned or switched off but heres the catch ABS works perfectly fine. The SVC guys are insisting that the ABS motor is bad and needs to be replaced. Now the cost for this ABS motor is 20k which is a huge bummer. So need your help guys. What should I do. I am 100% sure abs works perfectly fine. most of the time the light stays on and sometimes it does stay off like it should while riding.
Last area of concern
the bike is 4 years old
So am not sure the clutch plates, cylinder head block piston etc how long will they hold up. As of now they seem perfect.
Cosmetically the bike is in a great shape heres a pic after a bike wash
In all heres howmuch I paid so far
70k for the bike
3600 for svc
4000 the fuel pump
500 for both mirrors
200 for RH crash guard
Both rims are slightly bent will repair them and if that doesn't go well then will claim both the alloy wheels in insurance.
--------------------------
78300 so far and bike transfer is pending so that should be another 3 to 5k
--------------------------
Do share your inputs as they will be very important for me in restoring this bike.
Also is there a whats app group i can join coz the link a few pages back is deadLast edited by hypergamer; 06-26-2017, 10:31 PM.

Honestly, I would have stayed away from this bike just because of the issues and damage which is present in the bike, you could have got better bike.Originally posted by hypergamer View Postalright so I got the bike and heres what happened
If I calculate total expenses it would easily cross 1 Lac barrier.

I understand what you mean brother. But it was a quick decision and once i had paid the token there was no looking back. My biggest concern is abs rest everything is fine. If anyone can share some inputs on that it would be awesome.Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostHonestly, I would have stayed away from this bike just because of the issues and damage which is present in the bike, you could have got better bike.
