Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Well the bike was thoroughly serviced today and they are blaming it on the abs motor and the price they are quoting is 20k. Now i dont understand one thing when the abs works flawless why cant they check other options like sensor that reports malfunction or maybe the wiring. If it were a bad motor the abs would never work in the first placeOriginally posted by Chandan92 View PostHave you checked ABS sensor?

Something is surely fishy, either they are purposely increasing the cost to increase their revenue or they don't want to properly diagnose the bike, ask them to replace ABS sensor first.Originally posted by hypergamer View PostWell the bike was thoroughly serviced today and they are blaming it on the abs motor and the price they are quoting is 20k. Though I can relate to the sentiment of a quickie ownership, unfortunately you've clinched the worse end of the sword. Considering the expenses you've incurred, ABS, fuel pump and console are one of the costliest parts on the motorcycle. What I would suggest is turn off the ABS and go for a spin with varied braking and observe how the vehicle behaves. And then switch off and switch on the ignition (this will turn on the ABS). If the ABS unit is fine it will flash three times and turn off. If the ABS light stays on even after deactivation, we might have a potential console problem or wiring problem. Do give it a try and keep your observations posted.Originally posted by hypergamer View Postalright so I got the bike and heres what happened
paid svc done
both brake pads cleaned
tank cleaned
oil replaced
brake oil replaced
coolant replaced
rear sprocket ball bearing and rubber replaced
air filter fuel filter oil filter replaced
clutch cable replaced
Now the major problems
fuel pump is dead and needs to be replaced because of which the bike performs worse than a duke 200 probably this is the reason the pump malfunction light always blinks
have ordered the fuel pump and will replace it soon
Biggest problem with the bike
the ABS light always stays on even when the bike is in motion. Which ideally means abs has malfunctioned or switched off but heres the catch ABS works perfectly fine. The SVC guys are insisting that the ABS motor is bad and needs to be replaced. Now the cost for this ABS motor is 20k which is a huge bummer. So need your help guys. What should I do. I am 100% sure abs works perfectly fine. most of the time the light stays on and sometimes it does stay off like it should while riding.
Last area of concern
the bike is 4 years old
So am not sure the clutch plates, cylinder head block piston etc how long will they hold up. As of now they seem perfect.
Cosmetically the bike is in a great shape heres a pic after a bike wash
In all heres howmuch I paid so far
70k for the bike
3600 for svc
4000 the fuel pump
500 for both mirrors
200 for RH crash guard
Both rims are slightly bent will repair them and if that doesn't go well then will claim both the alloy wheels in insurance.
Turn the ABS off, ride the bike, observe the braking parameters, console warning lights if any, should give you a fair workaround of what exactly is wrong.
Cheers!

Error 1.7.3
Battery Dead [emoji23]
Another expense
However abs did turn off as the light was constantly blinking when off
And upon cycling the ignition key the light was constantly on. I couldn't ride the bike but yes looks like abs is ok its either the console wiring or sensor.

Expenses after expenses eh.Originally posted by hypergamer View PostSo am due for a new battery. Which one should I go for. Any suggestions?
Also do check your stator coil for proper charging volts. If we have a dead battery, coupled with a test drive bike, that's the one you want the least to happen. Check your voltage output during the battery installation.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Heres what happened today.
Battery replaced with excide xltz9 the bike starts now
Abs light goes of sometimes like it should but after sometime it comes back on But the abs still works as expected tested in heavy rain. Till this morning the abs used to turn off like it should. But now no matter how much i try the abs doesnt turn off.
After riding in heavy rain all day the speedo has stopped showing extra info like avg speed mileage etc but all other parts of the screen work as expected.
Fuel pump is not in stock yet
Installed both rvms and rh crash guard
I am guessing it's definitely the speedo console, bad wiring or a bad abs sensor coz if the abs motor were bad the abs wouldn't function right.
Anyone?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
It can be console, it can be improper wiring, it can be a combination of both or isolated to a single event. A thorough inspection only can yield the results we are looking for. I'd suggest you kick start your experiment, starting with the console and wiring. Check for any frayed wiring, improper ground contact of wiring if any.Originally posted by hypergamer View PostHeres what happened today.

Speedo is completely dead now.
Installed fuel pump and she performs like a champ so little relief here.
Just for test connected a brand new speedo and the abs did turn off although didn't get a chance to ride with the new speedo but i really hope its not the abs motor coz it costs a bomb.
Washed the bike thoroughly and lubed it
Heres a few pics
What next
Both rims need repair as theres a slight bend in both but no crack
Have to look for a used speedo of the 390
Anyone here who has a duke 390 old model under warranty like a 2015 or 2016 duke. If yes and willing to help then please let me know as it will save me a lot of expense on the speedo and abs motor. Thank you.
