Will give them a call and check. Thanks for this!Originally posted by Yatheesh S Yashashvi View Post
Thanks for the hard break in tip. I plan to ride out within a couple of days to yelagiri so I can do the 250 km thing undisturbed. Plus the canyons should give the bike some exercise. Then a oil change like you suggested. After that will head back to the mountains again for an extended 800 km ride to close out the 1st service. Am thinking either coonoor/ooty or kollimalai which have those crazy hairpins. What do you think? Both these rides will pretty much be on back to back weekends.Originally posted by Skanda View Post

Even I went to ooty after the first oil change. Chose 36 hairpin curve on onward journey and the other route on the way back. It was awesome. Cornering on the roads were really nice. The return journey route was better than the 36 hairpin curves one.Originally posted by red liner View PostThanks for the hard break in tip. Pulsar 200 NS rear shock is what you've installed on your Duke currently? Can you share your experiences, photos, is it a direct plug and play, ride pliancy, anything at all and any color you can provide shall be helpful indeed.Originally posted by vid_powerstroke View PostYes the issue is common! Even while riding solo the rear reflector mount generally tends to slap the hugger from time to time.
I am running gas filled shocks on the rear borrowed from the 200ns. I have not encountered any problem as ive changed my suspension settings accordingly.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Have you parked your bike for more than a week? If not, and your battery shows Low Battery after riding the bike almost on a daily basis, it's time to check the battery and the stator. Also check all your bike's grounding bolts are properly torqued, especially the battery.Originally posted by Veeral View PostAfter all the positive feedback and people vouching for system G. Nope. Using it daily. 10k+ kms done. Will chck the battery terminals by myself. But regarding other ground connections shall get it checked during 3rd service within a week..Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostHave you parked your bike for more than a week? Yes, sooner the better. Coolant can be drained upwards of 10k yes, it's a good idea replacing coolant every 10k KMS.Originally posted by Veeral View PostNope. Using it daily. 10k+ kms done. Alrite. Replacing coolant procedure can be just by draining and refilling right ? Damn ! I trust xbhp guys more than ktm srvc guysOriginally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostYes, sooner the better. Coolant can be drained upwards of 10k yes, it's a good idea replacing coolant every 10k KMS.

Can anyone confirm at what interval coolant should be changed ? Not that I am facing heating issue or anything, but just out of curiosity. There's nothing to it, check the online manual. All that there are, are two things, one bolt and one screw; one below for the water pump and one above for the radiator bleed, rest is really simple. Drain, pour, bleed and you're done.Originally posted by Veeral View PostAlrite. Replacing coolant procedure can be just by draining and refilling right ? Damn ! It's pretty much an easy job.

Correct me if I am wrong. Changing coolant @ 10K kms is a little sooner in my opinion. The properties of coolant does not degrade much in as low as 10K kms. There can be some degradation at around 30K - 40K kms (this is entirely dependent on the coolant grade and composition). Is this understanding of mine correct?
Has anyone changed coolant at around 10K to 15K kms and observed a difference in heat emission of the engine?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Very good question and you're absolutely right, with modern coolants drain interval upwards of 50k for cars, it's premature indeed. But there is a catch here. Premixed coolants can be extended upwards of 20k on motorcycles. The reason 10k interval for motorcycles is the very nature of the stress motorcycle engines go through.Originally posted by krishkaz View PostHi VJ,

Though the coolant may seem fine color wise the electrolyte balance reduces significantly which reduces the overall coolant efficiency. Remember coolant is mainly water it's water that cools, the other are corrosion inhibitors, anti freeze additives. Compared to a car, the stress a motorcycle engine is subject to reduces the overall coolant efficiency.
Too old a coolant or improper water to antifreeze ratio causes rusting, sludge formation and premature water pump/seal failure..
It's purely a person discretion, but with KTMs 10k change is a what I'd personally recommend..
