Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Since you mentioned that you've used it since from first service, have you sometimes not used System G and felt the difference?Originally posted by s1d View Postnow that you mention, i faintly remember that the 'speed 95' branded fuel was a slightly different color.
but these days i haven't seen a difference in the regular fuel(91 octane) vs regular fuel+additive (not higher octane fuels).
coming to the system g, its seems to make a positive difference in refinement/throttle response. Especially on the ktm's the difference is very noticeable. You are able to hold onto a gear a tad bit longer (more rpms) before up-shifting.
Lets take the case of my D200 (bone stock with just regular services and plug replaced every 10k km)
It's done close to 21000km in 1.5 years and system g has been used from around after the first service. Haven't had any issues such as overheating, or hiccups and neither has the throttle body or injectors been touched for service. I get a consistent FE of 32~35 both in city and highway (at consistent speeds of 85-92kmph with short stretches done at around 100kmph). If I drop the speed down to a consistent early 80's the FE goes up to 39kmpl. These are real world FE figures and not readings from the console.
I hasn't caused any issues so far, and I continue to use it every other time. A bunch of my friends also use this and their reviews are also positive. I can't say for sure if its 'cleaning' anything (because i haven't seen the internals on my engine, which i may soon
) but based on the end result in terms of refinement/throttle response, my experience has been good.
It's worth giving it a shot !

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
This has been my observation so far. When filling regular fuel, I get an average of 19. When using Power I get 21.5 or so. Would Speed 95 make a difference? I don't mind giving it a shot. Won't hurt too much. CheersOriginally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostActually premium fuels do appear slightly rosy red in color as opposed to regular fuels, which normally appear orangish to blue-ish. 95 Speed. I am not sure how it fares on the other side of the spectrum. But premium fuels do have a slightly different color at least when it comes to Bharat Petroleum from what I've experienced. Purely my experience.
@s1d Could you expand on the SYSTEM G usage, apples to apples? What's your overall experience, improvements if any, would be helpful. I'm an atheist when it comes to snake oil injector cleaners, but IFTEX G is one that gives me second thoughts, countless positives. Would you care to share?
Cheers!

This is probably a very good article regarding this.AFAIK anything above 200CC will benefit using Power or High octane fuelk

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hi
The bottom part of the tail section of my bike is ramming into the tyre hugger everytime I run into a pothole..and its even more prominent when riding with a pillion....what could be the possible reason/solution?
Has it been experienced before?
Cheers

I can't say I have faced this issue, but a good place to start with will be the rear shock preload setting. What is the setting on your bike? Could be a bit too low for your weight, or your shock might have lost some oil. Don't see any other valid reason for such an issue.Last edited by ananthu; 04-09-2016, 05:21 PM.Must ride on!

The suspension is at the softest setting...but it has been like this for past several months but this problem is new....I think I should get the shock checked.Originally posted by ananthu View PostI can't say I have faced this issue, but a good place to start with will be the rear shock preload setting. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
A BIG HI to all the bikers in here!
This is my first post in xBhp. Thanks MODs for accepting me!
Got myself a D390 two weeks back. I must admit that it is altogether in another league from all the motorcycles I have ridden till date (not a lot of them though
). Its really fun, even though I dont take the RPM above 6000, atleast untill run in. Commute to office has never been better.
He (yes, I would like to call him a HE!) has done 350 Kms so far. Not a single glitch. Ride is pretty hard though, but not too much, I can live with it. Yesterday, during my trip to office, the fuel consumption on the display showed 2.3 L/ 100 Km, that is 43.48 Km/ L
. Couldn't click a pic as I was riding to office on a hurry. I am not sure how accurate is this. Yet to try the tank full method. Will update once I have a number.
Also, I need some tips on how to ride during run in. So far I have not taken the engine above 6000 rpm, no sudden bursts, have been very gentle on throttle and using a lot of engine braking. Is this okay? Or do I need to change my riding behavior? Please advice..
Happy Biking Everyone
Cheers,

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Congrats on the new bike! There are two types on run in. First is to follow the manual and second is hard run in. I followed the second one and am happy with it. Got my first oil change around 250km. Google hard run in method and watch some you tube videos. Decide which one you like and follow that. Ride safe!Originally posted by krishkaz View PostAlso, I need some tips on how to ride during run in. Yes the issue is common! Even while riding solo the rear reflector mount generally tends to slap the hugger from time to time.Originally posted by AkshayA View PostHi

I am running gas filled shocks on the rear borrowed from the 200ns. I have not encountered any problem as ive changed my suspension settings accordingly.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hello guys,
I have a query and would love some inputs regarding it.
I bought the 2016 Duke 390 3 days ago. I noticed there is a huge *thad* noise each time I shift gears and it doesn't seem normal. I checked it with KTM service in Seawoods, Navi Mumbai and they said it is normal.
For example on stand still when I change to First Gear from neutral there is a small jerk and this noise. Is this common for the new ones? After 4th gear there is no noise and no problem in downshifting as well.
The guys also mentioned slipper clutch gives rise to more noise as well.
Anybody who owns the new 2016 version kindly share your inputs.
Thanks,
Rithul

I don't know how true is their slipper clutch reason but regarding "thad" noise you mention it's quite present in all 390's AFAIK. First gear makes the most noise and after third its almost non existent. So don't worry its normal.

If that's the case then I am glad. Thanks a lot for the information. I was wondering if this was normal or not. Yes after third it's almost non existent.Originally posted by rick_7428 View PostI don't know how true is their slipper clutch reason but regarding "thad" noise you mention it's quite present in all 390's AFAIK.
