Hey guys need some info about the tires. Since they are quite dear I was thinking about how we could take care of them. What I mean is PUNCTURES. I have heard about Motul puncture sealant, which you put Inside the tire and which is supposed to self seal punctures. Does it work ?
Durga Puja is around the corner here In Kolkata, and with all the Pandal construction going on will definitely catch a nail or two.

I've finally taken the plunge and booked the KTM duke 390 here in Bangalore. I currently own a Ninja 250R and have done a memorable 22000kms on it. With rising maintenance costs and expensive spares, I've decided to go for the 'light on pocket' Duke 390.Looking forward to clocking miles on the single cylinder hooligan.
      Cheers!

Well don't bother about maintaining the tyres our road conditions are well known to all, there will be lots of punctures don't use any sealant it won't hold for much long just get a tubeless puncture kit.

Hello! I'm just a friendly member from the other thread: Duke 200 :P Could anyone of you post a pic of the 390's forks? i heard they've fixed the fork oil leak issue. And did anyone notice the chain slapping against the swingarm? It was(still is) one of the main issues with the Duke 200

Yes I think that's the only good reason (rising cost) other wise don't expect ninja like fit and finish, performance.
Even I have done 46000kms on the ninja and there's nothing like it just can't compare the 250 to the duke

Brace is next step, probably will complete it by tomorrow. For speeds below 100 kmph braces wont be required as the current holding part of Duke's head light assembly is quite good. But to be on safer side, braces will will help a lot on higher speed.

Seems a bit tall looking from the front though...But it looks good from this angle !...so the windscreen actually suits the bike well then ?

Finally got the delivery. Exactly on the 90th day since booking (I had told the showroom owner that I was coming to collect my booking amount as soon as my 90 days are over).

But my god what disgusting service of the KTM showroom (KTM West Delhi - avoid at all costs). Pathetic staff and even worse behaviour.

That apart the bike seems fantastic. Haven't had much of a chance to ride the bike properly (I just have the bike, and all the necessary documents will be ready tomorrow only).

                Will share my experience later.

I am not attempting to compare the Ninja 250R to the Duke 390.Two vastly different bikes from two vastly different brands.

I personally couldn't justify the long wait for the parts and the ever increasing premium costs.
390 offers a bump in performance along with economical costs. Too sweet a deal to resist.

This is the first time I am hearing about fork oil leaks in D390. Has anyone on this forum faced this issue?

Hi, today I was at the showroom for quite sometime comparing n250 and d390/d200. I felt the overall quality of d390 to be at par (excluding the knuckle guards and brake/clutch levers) with that of Ninja. Not trying to get into an argument about which is better, this is just my observation, and yes, I agree that I may be a teensy bit biased towards d390 . But seriously the parts seemed at least as good as that on Ninja. Have yet to have extensive ride experience on either but parts wise I found them equivalent.

Went on a small trip today to give Puja. My daughter accompanied me on the Duke and as promised here is her pillion review.

Hey! I'm Melanie and I'm 12, studying in the eighth grade. I have been riding my dad's bike(s) since before I was born. My Pillion experiences include a pulser 180, a Karizma, a couple of old Enfield Bullets, a Yamaha rx135 and last but not the least, a Duke 390. So, here's my pillion review:
The Duke's a fascinating bike, and I was over the moon when dad brought it home yesterday. We went on a short ride today - the seat is very, very hard and you could get a backache by sitting there for a long time. The foot pegs feel strong and firm. The grab-rails are basically useless, but they provide satisfactory support to the bum. People with generously proportioned behinds would find them quite advantageous. The best thing about the bike is the amazing speed. The most we got to was 68 km/hr but that was more than enough! I love the shrill whistling sound the bike makes while it is slowing down. But sad thing is, you can't show off while your on the bike... Cuz you gotta hold on tight!
People who decide to ride pillion on this bike should always hold the rider tight, if you take it casual you will end up doing a back flip.
Im happy with my dads choice and cant wait till Im 16 then my dad has promised to teach me to ride as well. Hope you liked my review here are a couple of pics....

Great to hear from your daughter. My daughter is 3 and she is excited to sit on Duke's tank...

                            First ride report:

The bike feels amazing. It felt a little uncomfortable at the beginning since the seating posture felt unnatural. But after a couple of kms, I got used to it and was able to concentrate on the ride.

The first thing you note is how easy it is to ride this bike. It feels light and nimble. I was able to carry much higher speeds on the same roads (compared to my Apache 180). The bike just wants to go faster and faster, but feels much more steadier and safer. The brakes are very good, and the suspension, while hard, is quite good at eating up small bumps on the roads (again compared to the Apache). The Metz shod the Duke has been mentioned often as the best on offer, and people are not wrong. The tyres are brilliant. I had never ridden so confidently at good speeds on the city roads (the Duke with its braking, tyres and overall dynamics tend to make me feel much more confident about my riding and braking ability).

No real issues faced so far. The bike heats up a fair bit (and yes, while stationary the fan sucks the heat away from the rider; but at crawling traffic be prepared to roast), but it's manageable. And I also heard some weird noise when on the move in the first gear (it's more prominent if you observe as someone approaches with the bike. You don't hear/feel it while riding so much. Need to figure that out.)

Also since the showroom was pathetic, nothing was done on the bike. I even had to set up the rpm limit indicator (set is at 6.5k and 7.5k). I think I touched upwards of 8k today in absence of the red warning lights (no big deal).
