Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Why did the showroom guy did it, what reason did he give ??Originally posted by avin45h View PostHey guys, KTM sales guy and Dewan auto supported me on this case and the issue was totally accepted and has been taken care of within barely 40 minutes. The showroom guy was asked the reason and he admitted the scenario and It was really amazing to see how much high priority this was taken as.
Hoping to see the same behaviour in future in terms of maintenance and repair stuffs. Will be posting pics soon. It's a white KTM 390, and guess what, it looks amazing as white as well.

Go immediately to the svc, bike record the error code when the enfine light or any other fault light comes up. svc should be able to check that error code and identify the problem.Originally posted by Cyrus_the_virus View PostFaced the first real problem with the bike after 5K kms and 3 Months. It happenned as I shifted down one and gave throttle, it just died on me as if there was no petrol, it stuttered and turned off and the engine light lit up. Thankfully I hit the clutch a the right time and pulled to the side. Switched off and back on, and everything was fine.
My concern is that if this happens again and the wheel locks up when I'm already at a decent speed, it can be catastrophic and cause an accident. Suddenly my trust level has dipped a bit till I find what caused it.

I don't think it's a good way even if its design this way as this is actual scenario and bike should be smart enough to know if there is petrol in tank or not . May be it should check for some more time (in the meanwhile keep the fuel pump off) . So do you think if you are decending/ascending a steep slope with low fuel it might switch off.Originally posted by riazmomin View PostDoes it happen when fuel is low?? or Just before hitting 'Low Fuel' indicator?
My 390 usually shuts off when the fuel is on lower side when I had to brake hard. It appears that the Fuel move to the front of the tank, and fuel pump is not surrounded by petrol, then as a precautionary measure, the bike shuts off. It it is this way, then it is good way to help avoiding frying the fuel pump.

It looks nice but what is the purpose of it ? as per my knowledge its good as much air go to radiator, even if we restrict 2% of air by creating obstacle it will effect the efficiency.Originally posted by abhifusion View PostHow does this look guys, for the D390

Just an FYI for everyone. Watch out for slight oil smudge at the edge of the tire. This is from the sprocket. Although it is considerably negligent and I thought it wouldn't be a problem till I took a u turn and lost the tail a bit! It hit me then that the small oil slick on the tire at the edge was the cause. Wiped it down with a tissue.
Watch out everyday before you start your ride, a small loss of rear grip in a corner can lead to devastating results

Yes, looks like Cause may be Bad petrol.Originally posted by Cyrus_the_virus View PostNo Riaz, it was well above half. I think all the normal fuel I used when I went to Kerala might have maybe caused a problem. I will observe for some more time. I will be doing my service in a few days time. I have come back to Speed97 from the last 2 weeks.
BTW, where are you getting Speed97? AFAIK, there are only two petrol bunks that sell. KPHB and Sangeeth Theatre.
I have been using normal petrol and did not had any problem during 5600kms.
If fuel pump is off, then bike would not run. And running a a bike while low on petrol is not good for fuel pump as it always needs to be submerged in petrol. Usually this fuel pump is placed in bottom of the tank, but for 390 I guess it is on bit higher side.Originally posted by shootingstar View PostI don't think it's a good way even if its design this way as this is actual scenario and bike should be smart enough to know if there is petrol in tank or not . As I said, the bike switches off under Hard braking only, not during progressive braking. So unless one is going down a very accute decent, it might not be a problem.
KTM Banjara sprayed so much lube that, after the supervisor took it for test ride, while lube was on the side of the rear tire. I made him clean whole tire with soft tissue paper.Originally posted by Cyrus_the_virus View PostThanks. Will do

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
It prevents radiator from gravel and stones, the stock plastic guard isn't as sturdy as this one. About efficiency, bike heats up upto same mark as it used to with the plastic guard...Originally posted by shootingstar View Post

Check this pic, I got it off the net. It happened with the D390 ...

Maybe it's just a mental thing but I feel the bike is more at home with the Speed97. As per the official BP distributor, there is only 1 outlet in whole of hyderabad selling Speed97 Petrol, the one at Raidurgam about a kilometer away from Shell/Wells Fargo.
Yeah, they keep putting too much lube, but I was talking about the time even after 2 weeks of servicing. Overight a slight smudge/thin layer somehow drips onto the edge of the tyre which you have to be really careful about since it's not readily visible.

I am using the petrol from Essar Petrol Bunk, Opposite ICICI Bank Office in Nanakramguda. Good quality and reliable outlet.Originally posted by Cyrus_the_virus View PostMaybe it's just a mental thing but I feel the bike is more at home with the Speed97. I also want to try out Speed 97 once and see what difference it makes, I am expecting probably cooler engine.
The BP at Vishwanath Theatre, KPHB has one pump. But they hardly have any stock. And the BP at Sangeeth theatre is old and is quite known for its Speed 97.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
guys.. the issue has been dealt with already about the panel, they do that on customer choice, in my case the fault was at showroom manager's end, but the senior officials there helped me out and yep, they do it and present to customer and mention him about things done.
p.s. : abs is working fine, the manual didnt mention that light goes off after riding for a while. confirmed this from showroom and service centre.
