Gearing is silky smooth as it was before the service. I experienced the thud till about 2k kms but it smoothed out itself and by about 3k kms it became perfectly smooth. From there onwards I never had any problems with the gearshift.

Where can I get both?

Junaid, go for Xtreme vision without a rethought. Me and Gourav (Dukedey) are using it and I must say, its much better than stock bulb. The beam is more brighter and is more focused on the road. Its definitely an asset for those night rides.
We both have also installed LED park lamps. Gourav may help you better here.
viper3683; I had the same buzzing from the console area while accelerating in lower gears but it disappeared by itself gradually after I opened and re tightened the whole headlamp assembly.
This is after how many km? I have completed 110 and one servicing. The strange part is some days/rides the gears are smooth but most of the time they are not.

I had my first service at 750kms, and oil changed was motul 20w40( which is used for d200) because they don't have the stock of motul 10w50. Now at 2200kms changed the oil to motul 7100 10w50 and now gear changing has become so smooth without any this thud sounds for mostly 98%. Very rare occurance of the thud sound that too depends upon my gear changing conditions. Other than that it's pretty smooth.

This is not a proper way to do business. hell with you bajaj
the dealer you talking about has third class business standards, his bajaj showroom 'Sampark Bajaj' also has very bad behaviour towards customers, their behaviour change when get the full amount, and their svc always run in shitty cheating practices. I regret buyin my pulsar from them.

Btw why does the owner needs to stay to deliver your bike??? he couldnt employ some people in his dealership

Anyway it's better you're getting a 2014 bike. Consider this as some last days to wait...Anyway all the best for your bike

In bhubaneswar there has been a change of many bajaj dealers. The oldest BAJAJ dealer was RAJARANI service station and was one of the best. But now they are not so active. I do not know why but it was one of the largest dealer of eastern side.Sad to know of the treatment by the dealer. This sunday i was passing by Rajpath motors and was surprised to see that the showroom was empty with no bikes for display.

Junaid that bulb comes in pairs, i will join you to buy it. pilot can be sourced from DukeDey. he was supposed to give me last month... they both bought headlamps together. pm me your number...
junaid12345678 i could easily hear the massive thud sounds from your shifts, when i was pillion to you. thats there in D 390. but can be eliminated from constant practise, never a problem, though irritating. i think with all gears, balaclava, helmet, we miss those sounds. i too dont hear when in gears. chain needs adjustment just after 500kms, due to bad roads and constant shifts...
chain tension is much needed for those thud less shifts.
I'm a responsible rider. It doesn't matter what you ride, but what matters is how you ride.

Ya, I too have heard that thud that day while riding through the city but for this I have to blame the svc. I told them to tighten the chain but they did the right opposite. When I reached home the chain was hanging way down. I was lucky that the chain didn't went off the sprocket. Then I adjusted the chain myself according to the manual and the thud just dissappeared all at once.

A slight clutch slippage will be always there in all engines especially in big single cylinders. So even if the clutch is applied some torque will leak to the rear wheel. This can be easily observed when we engage the first gear while stand still or downshifting while riding. The thud is not from the gearbox but from the front and rear sprockets when a small but sudden torque is delivered to the front sprocket; that too with a loose chain. And afterall its a KTM gearbox. It can never get the slickness or precision the Hondas or BMWs have.

Do you have any specific technique for shifting gears? I have tried the pre-load gear lever method with mixed results.
Per my experience the thud is getting worse and worse with increasing km. So instead of enjoying the rides, I am dreading hearing the thuds

It looks like the chain is getting looser as you ride more. This is why the thud is increasing. On the 390, the chain can easily become loose due to the higher power and torque the engine delivers to the rear. I suggest you to adjust the chain yourself by following the user manual. (Only if you know what you are doing)

Hi guys, when i went for my 1st service i didnt see them cleaning the chain with brush, although it was looking clean. After my trip to Bangalore and back i could see the chain was dirty, but then i gave it to a service station near my house for washing where they used powerful spray water to clean the bike. After the wash i dont see any dirt on the chain at all. My question is, do i still clean the chain using a brush? Cos the bike has done 1800kms..

It is not absolutely necessary to clean it with a brush. A high pressure water jet cleans the chain good enough.

When you are cleaning the bike yourself and don't have access to pressurised water then you can use a brush and some degreaser. I use a brush and a cloth afterwards to wipe off the muck.

Here the svc people clean the chain with a cloth dipped in diesel and then pressurised water. Looks and feels fine.
