I can live with all this [lube gunk near front sprocket] and have no complaints. Just keep cleaning them regularly...Originally posted by peaesus View PostYikes. Along with the slap sound, would also have to live this then.

But whatever they use in SVC, I'm totally against it as it sprays all over the rim as well.
Now, I take my Motul lube to SVC and ask them not to use their lube. I have also started using Motul myself and do not see any extra lube getting sprayed into the rims. I just spray it inside and both sides of the chain and leave it over night. I do not have any complaints so far. Once my Motul is over, I'll try Cyclo to see how it fares....
What is the maximum RPM that SVC is going to set the bike after 2nd service? Mine currently maxes out at 9.5 K RPM after 1st service?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
If you have the patience to lube it without using a paddock, then you can use a cloth to cover the rim and then spray the lube. This prevents the lube to reach the rims.Originally posted by DukeDey View PostExactly the kind of mess I was talking about. The chain sprays the lube while riding, right? Strange, It never happened with me till date, I have been using motul since long.
Everytime oks is applied by the svc guys it spoils my rim but motul never does that and I apply this lube on both sides of the chain.
If you spray a little motul on your palm you would find that it settles in a hard sticky paste very quickly. By the looks of it it should not make things messy and that is how good it works for me.

Keep another cloth in your left hand and use it to shield the bike as you spray on the chain towards the front sprocket.
Of course, you'll have to move the bike around to lube the chain completely. The hero always RIDES into the sunset!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Even I noticed after 2 days that after using Motul spray liberally (on three side of chain)by svc mechanic in first service there was hard black compund all over the rim, which was very difficult to clean.
While getting my bike serviced I also read a notice in svc which says that O ring chain should be lubricated every 500kms by SAE-90 oil or it can also be cleaned by OKS chain lube which is available at svc. So I plan to use SAE - 90 oil only to lube my chain, it very economical
and even if it get sprayed on rim it will be atleaset easy to clean.

Guys if you got any vibrations in the left foot rest, remove the front sprocket cover and clean it. Vibrations will be reduced. Also another reason for left side footrest vibration is the damaging of the chain and sprocket. Noticed this issue from my duke200 as well as duke390. Just now cleaned the front sprocket after 2.5k kms. If yahoo l you want to clean the rl alloys which is spoiled by the chain lube use WD40 spray. It will easily remove the stain of any grease. It will be a easy job.

Yeah, WD40 will do the job well without damaging the paint, else you can use diesel to clean it up...
The service center lubing ends up with a lot of grime on the chain and ofcourse stained rims...
Before the first service i had cleaned and lubed the chain using MOTUL products and the result were satisfying, but after the servicing i can see a lot of grime already within 200 kms...

This was an year back, I would be surprised if prices have come down.
You seem to have not read my earlier posts, Irrespective of amount of lube I used from Cyclo, there has been hardly any lube sprayed on to the RIMs. So there is no dirtiness on the rims as you ASSUMED. I used Tribocor, and probably less than 20ml (I am not sure how to measure that), it doesn't take a minute to make whole rim dirty.
Motul was sprayed at SVC and it was done under my supervision and I know how much amount to spray, in couple of minutes rim was dirty again, not just that. some part of lube was in the side wall of the tire.
I suggest you to try Cyclo and come back.
Motul chain lube - 530 Rs
Motul chain clean - 500 Rs

The console will give you different numbers every couple of hundred metres interval...Originally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View PostI believe the duke's console displays tank range (depending on many variables) so how accurate is it?

I am talking about the initial 3 gears only. 4,5,6 are quite smooth.
The hard gears are driving me nuts
@abhifusion, What is the material used? And what are the advantages over the stock guard?

I recently completed my first service and the SVC put only 1.5 L of oil.
From multiple reports on the net, the power part windshield is completely useless.
Check the engine oil level when the engine is warm...
As long as the level is between the MIN and MAX indicators, 1.5 or 1.6 l doesnt matter...

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Have any of you used Muc-Off dry lube? I saw the container in Let's Gear Up but I still have stock of OKS. I might try it after I empty the OKS stock.Motorsports - Because in football, basketball, golf and cricket, you only need one ball! ;)

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Guys
Just curious to know whether its common with you all ..
After 450kms I have noticed few changes in my duke 390
1) Whenever I start the engine after a long break ( Interval of about atleast 8 hrs ) . The bike starts normal and after 10 mins I hear some some noise like sewing maching when the bike is in stationary ! Is it the tappet noise ? If so isnt it too early ? or is it something common with you all ?
2) When I Upshift the gears sometimes it gets stuck down and then i have to leave the clutch to get the gear lever back to the posistion
I appreciate if someone could throw some light on these issues and also my service is around the corner and I hope someone could give me a feedback on mugappair Ktm service ?

Ask your ASC to check the shift return spring. Also ask them to lubricate the shift lever pivot. That should solve the sticky lever issue.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
It might as well be tappet noise, get it checked. My bike has the issue from 500 kms and same has been acknowledged by the svc. It would be rectified this Saturday.Originally posted by srivaatsav View PostGuys

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I booked the KTM Duke 390 from KTM showroom Majiwada, Thane (W). Delivery will be done in 10-12 days, they said.
I also took the TD of the bike. That was the first time I rode that bike. Showroom personnel sat behind me. Although I got to ride it on a service road but it was relatively empty. So I got to know the feel of the power. Rip hard in first gear and it'll always do a power wheelie, provided that you have a pillion behind. Loved that feel. Bike feels very powerful for me because I used to ride a Joeled RTR before and I have no experience in riding a SBK. Fuelling wasn't so good at 1-3k rpms but after that, power delivery was breath taking. Hopefully my vehicle doesn't have that initial fuelling issue.
Brakes were really nice. ABS was also very effective. Made the bike stop where I wanted it to.
Can't comment about handling. Didn't corner on it. But yes, it's very nimble in traffic even with a pillion.
Forgot to notice the vibrations. Was too excited!
But aftet owning a RTR for 3 years, every other bike feels like a Honda! :P
Seats are hard, yes. Not sure whether my butt will ache on long rides or not. If it does, a layer of foam will do the trick.
After the ride, we both were laughing! I guess he already realised what would be my reaction! :P
Service center experience was good. Except for the fact that their card swiping machine wasn't working. I had to go to an ICICI bank ATM with my dad to withdraw the booking amount cash (which is 30k).
