  • Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences

Just got my 1st servie done at 780 kms (at seewood vashi, mumbai svc).
    - Cost : Rs. 1527 ( engine oil + consumable + chain lubrication)

    My observation:
    - They work slowly but work level was satisfactory

After service I put progrip tankpad myself (there are 2 little kink and a bit misaligned because of curvature of tank and me being a novice ), sorry about photo in low light

Till now I've not faced any problem with bike, everything is working as it should may be because I'm not pushing the bike too much taking it slowly. I'm trying not to exceed 5.5k rpm till 1000 kms.

Which oil was used? There are oils that are green in color like the motul 300v.
That looks like a green coloured oil instead of an oil contamination.

That oil is definately not the MOTUL 7100 FS 10W50...

            Contact the service center...

Maybe the btm svc have made a fool of me by showing 10w50 bottle but actually having poured in some other oil. Bill also says 10w50. Thanks guys. Will have it checked.

Noticed the radiator fan does not stop in standstill even after 8-10 minutes. I am guessing this is cos of the reverse movement of the fan when under 12kmph.

Since I do not care about hot air on my feet, wondering if I can change to the early single direction radiator fans.

Anyone has some ideas on how to? I know some people got the fan upgrade a little after delivery, if we can know the exact changes, perhaps a DIY is possible?

I too noticed that the radiator fan would not stop at idle even after standing still for more than 5 minutes. Even if its not blowing cool air on the engine, its still sucking hot air from around the engine, therefore, I think changing the direction of flow wont give much benefit.

after lunch, i was generally passing by my 390 which was parked on the road under my office. noticed something shiny on the rear tyre, and on closer look found it to be one of those sharp nails typically used by shoe menders. it was embedded in the tyre by about 5-6mm. pulled it out with hand, and pressed the tyre to check air pressure. All seemed ok. Is there anything to worry about? could it be a slow puncture? could it lead to tyre burst later? Sh**! i don't even remember the area where i pulled the nail from? looking back at how the nail was found, i suspect someone tried puncturing the bike on purpose!

Just check whole tire with water mixed with shampoo. In case of a puncture just fix it immediately, otherwise low pressure may attract more punctures! I think so as I found so many of them on my Pirelli sd.

So many puncture shops near my residence! Obvious eh! Last one nail I removed was a 3 " one passing through the tire shoulder. Like somebody have done with hand. But didn't result in air leak

Found two such nails in rear tire till now. Removed them and no issues till now. No fall in tire pressure.

have done about 30kms of riding since the incident, and there is been no difference in tyre pressure. So i am not sure if a check would reveal any leaks at this point. my fear is could it show later? Will keep an eye on this and report of any thing unusual.
