The rev indicator is set at two different rpms. When the first rpm is reached, the light starts to blink and when the second rpm is reached, the light will glow continuously. From factory the rpms set are 5000 and 7500 respectively. This is changed by the svc guys after 1st service to 7500 and 9000 rpm. However, to do so does not require any ecu remaps, but, can be done from the console by pressing some buttons. Hardly takes a few seconds. The details are given in the manual provided with the bike.
Thanks for replying so quickly. Isnt that the shift RPM indicator(s)? I know how those can be set cos ive done it myself as well.

However, I was under the impression that the bike was ecu hard limited at 7500 RPM during the run in period and then raised to 10.5K RPM once the run in was completed.

I havent actually crossed 7.5K RPM while in the run in.

No, there is no rev-limiter at 7500 rpm. The only one is at 10500rpm.

        Thanks for the info Amit.

One more question, the EU Duke 390 manual downloadable from the website indicates 1.6l of Engine oil to be used. However, our Indian copies of the Duke 390 user manual has no mention of the quantity(unless ive missed it) There is a mention of 1.5l engine oil to be changed on the service slips of our manual though.

I wonder why there would be a difference in oil quantity recommended in the EU and Indian version of the exact same bike?

Can anyone throw some light on this.

        Thanks.

Nothing, but to drain the water collected inside the exhaust which can happen while washing or riding through the rains or even due to condensation. The purpose is to avoid a corroded exhaust from the inside and all motorcycles with engines have that 'hole' under the pipe
If you worried about falling off the bike, you'd never get on.

I checked this with goregaon SVC they told me that total engine oil is 1.6 L but while changing engine oil we need to fill only 1.5 L and if you open the enigne and then filling the oil then only 1.6L should be used, not sure how true it is though...

The rubber beading on the indicator has come off and water has seeped in...maybe be indicator has rubbed something...dnt think it's a quality issue....

Did the rim bend or did it break like we saw in some of the pictures earlier?

Done around 11000 kms till now and atleast I could hear the difference in the exhaust note. It is bit more pleasant than it was during its initial kilometers.
True is that the metallic tone is considerably less.

Any how, the breathing problem that my bike had appears to be slowly fading away. It is there but not as much it was before the servicing.
Still the ECU check is pending though.
Just after second service, my bike too started shutting down once in a while. Thinking of the changes done to the bike, the one that comes to my mind is the spark plug. I am not sure if this can cause the stalling.

                                How was your issue resolved?
