Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I think his bike did not shut down. Its more like when you are accelerating, the bike jerks a few times in middle of the acceleration. I too am facing this recently. Stalling issue is different and till now there has been no fixed solution, only workarounds.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View Post

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
When the puncture wala removed the whole front wheel of my bike and immersed it in water, there was a small hole on the rim and a little bend on the edge. I got fixed by giving it to a welder. Rim is fine but a portion of a orange paint is vapourised. Will respray it with orange spray can.Originally posted by hsub View PostDid the rim bend or did it break like we saw in some of the pictures earlier?
It certainly can. Thankfully, I was just doing 55 kmph. There was a loud 'thud' because of hitting a pothole. I didn't lose my balance.Originally posted by timuseravan View PostAnother one? All you guys with broken rims please get together. This can turn out to be life threatening.

Hi AmitRavi07, increasing the RPM a bit helped me with the stalling issue, 0% stalling in around 350 Kms, whereas earlier it used to stall almost every time I used to press clutch.Originally posted by AmitRavi07 View PostI think his bike did not shut down. How was your issue resolved?Originally posted by AmitRavi07 View PostI think his bike did not shut down. Yes, my bike did not shutdown. It behaves as if the there is no supply of petrol while accelerating.
I had my doubts on Spark plug and Fuel lines. Changed spark plug and Fuel line filter. Issue is still there but it is lot more less now. Earlier, it was too much.
Stalling issue is more based on the Clutch.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme

Yes, as I said, there are workarounds - like the one you mentioned where the idle rpm is increased so that the throttle does not close fully. I meant that there is no proper fix for this particular problem.Originally posted by puneet0009 View PostHi @AmitRavi07, increasing the RPM a bit helped me with the stalling issue, 0% stalling in around 350 Kms, whereas earlier it used to stall almost every time I used to press clutch.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Here is a mini log of my "Ride to vote"
a 900kms round trip ride to my hometown in Udupi from Blore.
The 390 as usual performed flawlessly. Got an average FE of 31kmpl on first leg which took around 8hrs (incl breaks) for 430kms. The ghat section was the best part and I was able to reach level 4 on rear tyre without any extra effort
Didnt try to push it further. I had the company of my brother on his Thunderbird so it was more of a relaxed ride for both of us.
The return leg was solo and I wanted to reach Blore quickly so took very few breaks. Managed to reach home in 6hrs 20min only
. The 140kms of 4 lane highway took just a little more than an hour! I initially decided to maintain 100-120kmph constantly but looking at totally empty highways it automatically increased to 130-140kmph. I didnt even realize the speed until I looked at the speedo! Taking those long sweeping corners at 150kmph is such a joy
Few observations I would like to point out regarding 390,
1. Riding sanely at 80-100kmph gives you best FE. 30+kmpl for sure, though the console was showing 34-36kmpl.
2. Riding at 130-150 consistently on 4 lane highways is very very easy, at least much easier than I expected. You dont need to put any effort & you dont even need to open throttle fully either.
3. To ride at high speeds for a long time, ear plugs are a must! It is so much more relaxing with ear plugs and you dont feel tired as much. This is more of a psychological effect, the moment you hear lot of sound, engine, exhaust, roaring winds etc you automatically feel tired after sometime.
4. High speed = low FE, its a universal law
Got around 23kmpl for the speed run on highway.
5. There was 50+kms of patchy two lane roads towards Udupi which was very annoying on 390. All the roughness on the road is transferred to you, thanks to hard suspensions and there is also the scare of damaging rims. Was always extra cautious on this stretch. On RTR I used to simply stand on pegs and take whatever may come
6. Fortunately for me, the seat is not an issue. I wonder why, maybe due to the spartan riding pants or the performax shorts. No problem at all after 8 hours of riding.
7. Windblast is pretty bad, a known fact on naked bikes. I have the RTR windshield which is pretty decent. A slight tilt forward and once helmet is aligned with it, the windblast is not an issue. Did 163kmph sitting like that, without full crouching. And it also serves another purpose, as most of my friends hate the look of the 390 with that windshield, "Bike ko nazar nahi lagegi"
:P
ODO is now at close to 3400kms in almost 2 months, its been such a pleasure.
Was confused a lot regarding my upgrade from RTR, and now I am not regretting one bit *touchwood*. Hope it stays that way
A few pics from the ride,

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
It should be available in all Reliance trend stores, thats where I bought it. Those shorts are sportswear and not specifically made for riding, but they are good in absorbing sweat and dry up very quickly after washing which is handy for multi day ridesOriginally posted by kkamaleshh View PostHi

I can spot a handlebar mounted GPS. Which GPS is it? Or is it a phone?

That is Rynox mobile mount.
For some reason their site is not fully functional, you can find details of it from their FB page.

It is a Rynox mobile/GPS mount (ebay Link, rynox webpage didnt open for me). I didnt use it on the ride, just placed the mount in case I needed it. In summers the phone will get heated up a lot so you will have to remove it after sometime.Originally posted by ags1773 View PostI can spot a handlebar mounted GPS. Which GPS is it? Or is it a phone?
