Went for a short sunday ride through Kasaragod to Jalsoor (Kerala-Karnataka border) Sticky tarmac with some super twisties, i would suggest guys who havent tried this route to check it out. After this you get Sullia-Madikeri road which is another heaven and goes all the way to Mysore and Bangalore. Duke rules here. Finished 2nd service, I'm super happy with the Duke. Only negative thing is you cant relax while riding this bike. just pushes you more and more.

Definitely a much debated method. But not sure of having seen anybody posting about following this method. There is always a first time :-P

And, this is after 6 month 6k kms of ownership. I have absolutely no issues riding this bike in any kind of traffic. Maybe, you need to adapt your riding style to the bike? I have gotten used to the power. Initially it felt "neck jerking". Nowadays, I even downshift once in a while to get a bit more acceleration.

Also, the bike's behavior in 38C heat in Bangalore has been pleasantly surprising - No coolant leaks, engine oil leaks etc. Once I did briefly see the high temperature warning though. Other than that, there is a mild chain slapping noise while going over sharp bumps.

Here is how my bike looks nowadays -

The windshield is MRA Spoiler. And it is effective in deflecting wind away from the torso - the "hanging on to the handlebar for dear life" feeling is greatly reduced.

Hey Abhijeet can you please tell me from where did u get these and if ordered online then can you give me the link please.

yes will change the oil & oil filter for sure. was not able to look at the crank but the svc said it was fine.

i loved to get a new engine. but previously i had some issue with my dealer, so didnt want to go to him and ask for it. initially they were saying to keep the bike for one week. he may again keep my bike for 1-2 months. summer has already arrived after april its hard to do long tour in 45-50 Deg. didnt rev it or got higher than 120kmh mark.

The only reasons i can think of are:

                        * Overheating
                        * Lack of lubrication/low engine oil
                        * Coolant leaking into the cylinder leading to coolant mixing up with the engine oil and then disaster: Engine seizure!!

If the point 3 happens to be the case: DEMAND A NEW ENGINE!! Coolant going inside the engine may potentially damage gears and other internal components.

If possible make a firm stand and demand a new engine from KTM right from the factory. Otherwise, if you are ok with the idea of having the existing engine with just the cylinder and piston replaced, download the service manual, replace all the gaskets, inspect the crankshaft and connecting rod, make sure all the mounting bolts are torque tightened and not by hands on screw driver nonsense. Inspect everything and ensure that all the internal components are in good shape. Replace the coolant completely, bleed out the old coolant.

I would go with the demand to replace the engine will not take a delivery otherwise!

While going through the run-in process again, ensure that you keep a sharp eye on the engine oil level and top it up when necessary.

                        Cheers,
so far the engine is doing good. there is no leakage of any oil. engine oil level is also good

keeping finger crossed that this engine will perform good. or ill be bound to ask for new one.

what is the limit of engine oil that should be used. in manual its written as 1.5l where as the kolkata svc pour 1.6 l.

how to change the shift speed RPM2. im able to see the RPM1 but no able to activate the RPM2. what is the ideal setting after 1st oil change

Was on a week long trip to Kerala in January and my only thought throughout the trip was - why am I not on a bike?
Kerala is definitely bikers heaven in India.

Don't even think of it. Who would you rather trust - the manufacturer who has spent millions on RD with top engineers and countless simulations or a website on internet who claims to know better than the people who made the bike?
Per Castrol research, the surface stabilization continues even upto 5000 km. The best way to break-in is city usage with varying speeds and short bursts of fast acceleration.

I thought they filled in mineral oil for the run in. Can anyone confirm this or the brand/ Type used initially. I want to top up a bit and do not want to mix oil types.
