Those are definately seizure marks. Damn.. How long did they take to get you the replacement parts?Originally posted by coolmaverickguy View PostMost motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Mine is still unresolved. But I've lived long enough with it that it hardly bothers me now. Though a fix will be appreciated.Originally posted by Venkatesh Velmani View PostWell for the problem I had, Spark plug seems to be the culprit. The last two weeks, as soon as I engage the clutch to downshift, the bike stalls. This kept happening at least thrice a day.
I addressed this issue during third service, and they cleaned the spark plug and there has been no stalling the last three days. Not once. I've even tried to stall the bike wantedly, but wasn't able to. :P
I haven't changed anything during the third service except engine oil and oil filter.

Will probably flash the ecu next before moving to the fuel injector.कृपया यहाँ पर ज्ञान न बांटे

I think u should get an oil change before the trip. The distance itself is not a problem at all.Originally posted by coolmaverickguy View Post3 days. tell me about the trip can i take the new engine for 1600km ride
What abt the crank. Was that replaced too?

Try this. Roll the trottle when you close the clutch and see if the bike stalls. If not, I think it should be the Spark Plug. If it stalls, then it must be a different issue.Originally posted by social View PostMine is still unresolved. But I've lived long enough with it that it hardly bothers me now. Let me know how it goes.Honda Dio (Sold) | Yamaha FZ16 (Sold) | Duke 390 | Kawasaki Z800 (Technically it's my brother's, but WTH ;P) |
1. Start the engine; 2. Turn the trottle; 3. Disappear ;)

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Even in my case, changing of spark plug didn't help at all. My bikes stalls almost every time when I press my clutch. I might be the one who is suffering the most from this issue. No solution from SVC guys till date.Originally posted by social View PostCan confirm spark plug is not the culprit for the stalling issue. I had it changed a while back and the stalling issue still exists. Other things that I've had changed: wiring harness and fuel filter.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I think it is indeed because of idling speed and not spark plug.
Initially 2nd gear at 20 kmps kind of lugs. After run in it is not there and one way good to assume that idling rpm has desreased.
When I hit brake and then clutch I can the rpm dropping below 1.5k. Esseneially having a higher idling rpm should help. Newer bikes say that they have higher idling (rewind a couple dozen pages).
Next time just try and notice rpm indicator when you press the clutch.
I tap tap; Y u no talk talk?

The only reasons i can think of are:
* Overheating
* Lack of lubrication/low engine oil
* Coolant leaking into the cylinder leading to coolant mixing up with the engine oil and then disaster: Engine seizure!!
If the point 3 happens to be the case: DEMAND A NEW ENGINE!! Coolant going inside the engine may potentially damage gears and other internal components.
If possible make a firm stand and demand a new engine from KTM right from the factory. Otherwise, if you are ok with the idea of having the existing engine with just the cylinder and piston replaced, download the service manual, replace all the gaskets, inspect the crankshaft and connecting rod, make sure all the mounting bolts are torque tightened and not by hands on screw driver nonsense. Inspect everything and ensure that all the internal components are in good shape. Replace the coolant completely, bleed out the old coolant.
I would go with the demand to replace the engine will not take a delivery otherwise!
While going through the run-in process again, ensure that you keep a sharp eye on the engine oil level and top it up when necessary.
