And Boy I was blown away by the performance. My all apprehensions about the bike went away once I hit NH4.
Its so easy to ride, control, brake with absolute no engine stress.
I had no issues of holding it @120kmph for around 50-60 kms (even with crosswinds). Or maybe its the Fazer Winscreen which I doubt.
I could hit a max of 155kmph which felt no where its max. Bharath aka TEAm_Torque was able to go past 170 kmph on his bike.

It never crossed 8 bars in my entire trip even in 40+ dregrees and gave me (ODO shown) 33 kmpl (100/3l) which is the highest I saw till date.

Tank Pad is an absolute must if you regularly ride with riding jackets . I avoided the tank pad stickers and got a plain 3M puffing done. (function over form)

The only & Only negetive :-
Small Tank Range

I had to refill once after Sira.

Bike Stats:
Avg speed - 80 kmph+
Kmpl - 33 kmpl (100/3l)
Temp - 8 bars constant
Max touched - 155kmph
Feeling - priceless
Hi Sanjoy, for the tank pad sticker you can try out the transparent 3M PPF film. Costs Rs600/- at Auto Service(Banashankari), quite effective and your bike still looks original.

It doesn't matter how expensive the maintanence or oil leaks become on your 390, the experience of biking is all about growing old with it, working over it, and maintaning it. I do not complain about it.

However, for enjoying that life, you must be alive to see that. The moment the manager said that the alloys break when impacted sideways, the riders should have jumped him with questions.

There's no explanation for this. No reason can suffice to cause such a danger to life of riders and commuters on road. This can account to a case of palpable homicide.

I wonder why isn't there already a case on bajaj ktm for this. And since there isn't, and no judiciary has given such orders, deaf ears have been turned to us.

I think I didnt clarify it clearly. The a very heavy side impact is what can send the Rims to Break a big pothole does not lead to a rim breakage. Yes I agree they maybe could have been better but the question remains how much better. Yes riders safety is very important and then we shouldn't have potholes and rocks on the road all together. If Europe can have these roads why cant we. Well then time to go and vote.

That's what I got ... I have heard complaints from tank-pad stickers that people try to flick it and as a result chip off paint.

If you have seen the initial reviews, before the 390 was launched, a bunch of jurnos went to Austria and test rode the bikes there. They rode through the streets and twisties on tarmac roads. I guess we have a fairly good idea on how the roads are in Austria. So for maximum performance and fun they have made a light weight bike, with light rims and Metzelers. Duke 390 is NOT a go anywhere bike. So here in India, when we ride it, say at around 80km/h and out of nowhere we hit a pot hole(which is not in the script for D390) the rims will break, and Bajaj KTM will never compromise on their riders life or safety to reduce cost. I'm ready to bet my house on that.
I think that is bang on ... they made the bike for european roads ..... I also do not question the initial intention of KTM or bajaj .... they would not compromise on such a thing to save costs ....

BUT BUT ...Having said that, mistakes happen ...and they did seem to oversee tht such a high powered bike needs stronger rims for indian roads .... the roads arent changing anytime soon...and for every onwner there will be times when they will go through unwantwd bumps/stones on the road! ... its fine if the rim gets damaged but it cannot break! Or rather should not break ... common our lives are much more precious! Bike will lose its aggresive nature is not at all an excuse ... if that will happen let it ... but dont make machines that kill ... indian roads are bad...we dnt live in a ideal world ... so adapt to the roads and make better rims!

As pointed out earlier, this can easily be a legal hassle on ktm. Thats is not how bike rims behave (crumbling) on a bump/stone...They should make different rims for India if need be, acknowledge the problem and work towards it .....

My bike fell in garage yesterday on the right side.
Thankfully the only damage was bent leg guard and broken hand guard. Anyone know the cost of these parts and if they are available singly or have to be bought as a pair?

Handguards are 700/- a pair and the leg guards are 200 or 400 a pair, dont remember the exact figure. Not sure if they sell it single.

Btw, to improve pillion experience on 390, one can hold the waist adjusters of your riding jacket instead of grab rails. This will be much better for pillion and he can easily manage should you whack the throttle!

I take my dad as pillion daily for 12kms on peak Blore traffic and this was the best solution I found till date. Holding the rear grab rails was not much of a use.

Holding down on the grab rails actually causes more un-stable condition for the rider , is what I have observer, I always ask pillion(mostly while riding duke, i prefer not to have one) to rest their hands firmly on the tank, that calls for a more aggressive seating posture from the pillion and a bit of added pressure on our back , but I do not mind that, as in my case mostly the distance involved with a pillion is very limited.

SBK style might help, but the rider will be upright and the pillion will be leaned forward? Moreover there is not much to grip the hold on the tank but the front leaned posture will help when you whack throttle.

I’ve been going through this thread for quite some time before I took the decision. And finally I just got it booked in KTM Indiranagar (Bangalore) showroom on 2nd April !! Though they said they will be able to deliver it on by 4th, I haven’t got any call from them so far. Eagerly waiting to get my hands on it, and meantime does anyone booked recently got it delivered from the same showroom this/last week(black color)? If so how long did it take for you from the date of booking?

PS: Thank you all for the great support you giving through the forum. It really helped me to clear my apprehensions about the choice. I never thought of joining any community until I happen to go through this thread. For advices and suggestions I’m kind of used to get it from experienced fellow riders. Yeah, it does, but like i said, in my case it is for really small distances, so doesn't bother me much.
