After reading your post I became nervous (not that its your mistake) , I was panicking and freaking out yesterday entire day till night and couldn't sleep well.
So you know what I did the first thing today morning . Indiranagar is good distance away from my home (J.P.Nagar) , called up the SVC in the morning and was taking updates regarding my bike from Diwakar. He asked me to come directly to 2nd floor where I met Harsha the SVC manager , the person working on my bike had opened the entire fork assembly and found nothing else other than the loose fork bolt at the top from where actually it was leaking.

Tightened it and asked him to give some pressure on the forks by pressing the front brake to be sure. Found ok and took it to my office which is again some 7-8 kms . Till now everything looks ok and hope that should be it.

Meet another 390 owner in SVC not an xbhpian (forgot his name), he had come for his first service . I asked him about his experience till now, he also had some issues with engine heating and coolant spilling which were corrected and nothing after that - got some confidence.

On another note which SVC would be the best in Bangalore for KTM. Auto Service ,Banshankari??? I didn't like BTM SVC. How is the Langford one?

Guy what is the service interval for the 390? All the online manuals and KTM site mentions 7500km but the free service intervals are 500km (1000, 6000 and then 11000).
So is it 5000 or 7500?

It depends on the rider, any rider who is not careful with any machine can cause harm to himself and others on road. This can be done with a bajaj chetak too and whatever speed the old horse is capable of is good enough to cause good damage. Kindly don't be afraid of things that are trivial. I took it to the SVC but by the time I went there ,it was already 4:45 and they were about to close. They asked me to either leave it there or come next day . After some thinking I left it there since I thought the leak may get aggravated if I rode it any longer. And the SVC is far both from my home and office.

Dont know for sure if its a burst seal or not , need to check it out tomorrow . The service person Diwakar said not to worry and that everything would be taken care of.

But whatever it may be, it feels bad and sad to give away my 5day old baby to SVC . I just completed 202kms before giving for repair . Owners - please keep a check on your fork seals too...
Btw aren't the 390s coming with dust boots to avoid this issue? The newer lot 200s are all equipped with these, after the 200 owners reported so many incidents.
Logic would say, the 390s should also get these

Just an info dude... Saw them and it was so scary,so thought of sharing it here...nothing else and in other bikes like you mentioned, you cant do the speeds and accelerate as much as 390.He was accelerating rapidly like a drag race in between cars and busses and other 2 wheelers zooming past me. All this for show-off..

I am not sure bro, heard about this dust boot first time. Are you sure the newer D200 come with these . How do we determine externally if the WPs have dust boot or not?

Leave bikes I see some teens everyday who do wheelies in desi cycles in the middle of road and traffic. My maids kid wants a cycle which has shudden brake so that his rear tire skids every-time he breaks near his school.

The dust boot is actually a black rubber cladding(more of a cover actually) over the fork seal. The svc can install this on your bike. The boots are cheap, but this will require the forks to be taken out so you'll have to pay the accompanying labour charges

Potential 390 buyer here. Spent the last 5-6 hours reading the last 35-40 pages of this thread. Around 70% of the posts are people reporting some issue (some major and mostly minor niggles) and others responding to it with solutions or suggestions, 20% OT, comparing with CBR and the likes, 8% pics of the new purchases and a very very small amount of people saying something actually nice about the bike (except the comparison to CBR). This is pretty alarming. I really hope it's a case the happy and problem free owners enjoying the ride so much that they have hardly any time to post anything here. -_-

Anyways, I wanted to know about the 'heating issue'. The TD bike I rode did heat up to nearly unmanageable levels in just 2-3kms. Read that the production bikes don't have this problem. Also, didn't see anyone reporting any heating issues. Not sure what kind of traffic you guys have been in to. What's the heat like in bumper to number traffic? Would like to hear from Bangaloreans.

Dude a D200 owner here, I have been giving it at Auto service, Babu n co. out there knows pretty much what they do and had been quite happy looking at the way they diaganose and fix the issues customers face.

Been unhappy with Khivraj Indiranagar and Kastutba road as well at Mekhri circle (closest though)

Never been to BTM.

My two cents

Heard the boots are 150 odd bucks and the labour is 350-450/-

Hi eliksir,
I am a nascent owner and just got my bike last Saturday. Please understand one thing people come to forums only when they have issues & problems (even that applies to me also). There is no denying that duke 390 has some niggles but as days are passing it is getting streamlined. Heating issue is normal and is very much bearable, I am using it in stop&go traffic in Bangalore for the past 5 days and I am running it in so it should get cooler after sometime. Bajaj believes in continuous improvement (Kaizen) and so are gradually improving their products so don't worry much.

In a sentence - The niggles are fully worth the rush & excitement of KTM390.

Go down the same road keeping the showroom on your RIGHT... Hit the first signal and take a U Turn. Its on the left a few meters ahead

wouldn't say the bike is not worth it.the heat normally is manageable.i have an overheating issue. In my case the screw up was most due to asc and some sort of manufacturing defect that asc repeatedly did not notice and could not rectify.if u had read earlier pages the only thing to do from my viewpoint is to check up with d200 owners in calicut/b'lore about the quality and experience of service staff.here at my place the asc did not even notice the fluorescent green engine oil-coolant mix through the engine oil view port!mine had to be the 1 in 100/1000 quality defect piece.

Really awesome bike. Lots of power and torque in the rear. I managed to do a 170 Km/hr on this bike and guess what the bikes very stable (because of that rev limiter). It can handle more than that once you are through the limiter. Tyres are awesome, one can cut sharp corners and those level markings at the rear tyres are really helpful to guage your performance.
Below is the link for the 170km/hr that i recorded. Was just a normal road could have managed a 172 if the road permitted.. moreover i was able to sprint the bike under 100, 130 and 150 with really good stats.

IMO I think you have made the right decision at precise time mate. You will significantly notice the heat coz I presume you are switching from an Air Cooled to Liquid Cooled. That being said, the heat hardly gets unbearable. I have clocked 1980 Kms from my tryst with beast dating close to two months before. Never had the warning "High Coolant Temp" on board. Even when I rode amidst sea full of traffic that too on sunny noon. Shower your unconditional love on her and I can assure that you will be reciprocated even better . Ride Safe
